I saw this on the news this morning. The Mom certainly isn't skipping any meals. The reporter also stated that the child had been living in a "shed" on a neighboring wooded lot. He went to an 83 year-old neighbors house and asked her for some food. The neighbor fed him and called the police. ITFA it states that the Mom said he was recently dropped off by the Father and has not been able to hold down food, yet the news this morning interviewed neighborhood kids who said the boy has always been skinny but when he comes to their house for dinner, he eats 3x what they do. I hope the Mother will DIAF.

I disagree on that. I don't think home schooling should be disallowed. What I believe is that in order to home school children, the person teaching (usually parent) needs to get some kind of certification for home schooling to be legal, with occasional tests of the kids to see what they are being taught.

Otherwise, you get cases like this. Or cases like the Duggars (See clown car picture above), who teach their kids from a whackjob system that pretty much just emphasizes fundie values and how to be a missionary and prosteletize to people.

Sadly enough, a buddy of mine was telling me just last night that an eightish year old kid in his neiborhood has been asking him for food. He's been keeping a lot of fruit on hand so he has something to give him.

While I agree that generally in these kinds of messes, it's both parents that are too stupid to use birth control (and too lazy to care for the resulting children), I think special rage is reserved for the mother since they invariably seem to _want_ these kids.
