Being an atheist, I think that the human condition leads to intolerance rather than whatever particualr system of beliefs people adhere to. I know quite a few atheists who openly discuss their desire to "get rid of all the religious whackos". I've chosen my beleiefs, and others believe differently than me, but I think that the desire to eradicate or suppress others is more a personality issue.
