Glass. Parking. Lot.

Oh, wait, UAE? They're our allies. Nothing to see here, complete non-story.

2007-06-10 10:17:22 AM
They'll just put them in a reservation, right?

Don't worry about them, though. They'll learn to build casinos soon enough.

(or gets thrown in prison, apparently)

So much for the next Tarzan movie.

2007-06-10 10:25:45 AM
That oughta be a tourist attraction in itself. Come see the 50000 year old people!

Yo, Arab guys. We have a place called "Detroit" we'd be happy to lease to you. And make all the changes you want, that's not a problem.

Subby needs to learn a bit more about UAE.

Civil and personal rights are non-existent there. The only thing that keeps that place nice for anybody is the desire the royalty has to build a non-oil based economy. (Tourism) If you are white, and rich you will get treated well. If not, then not.

Plus, it's Tanzania, it's not like those folks won't be wiped out with machetes next week anyway.

Now that's a headline

I don't know. I moved away from home when I was 18.
50,000 years in the same place? Hell, every time you pick your nose you'll be picking out ancestors.

Archie Goodwin: public finds sharing UAE private safari playground Whitehouse in Tanzania Washington "inconvenient"

Whitehouse is the surname of a Senator and a Farker named 0Icky0.
White House is a building in D.C. currently infested by W.

Feel free to make the same mistake after he leaves though...

Move along people, nothing to see here.

Why are you people are so cynical and detached? Get out of your farking cubicle and see the world. Even if you cannot do anything about it, it is not something to make fun of. If you can't empathize with the people at least understand it is not frivolous. Do you think it is serious only when it affects you?

I think it has more to do with the fact that Nermal keeps getting mailed to his country.

/Obscure?

The UAE and the Saudis say THEY have the monopoly on backwards tribal societal ideals!

Ain't gonna let some upstart tribe show them up.

jafiwam: Oh, I knew that about the UAE, which is why, despite being white and (on a global scale) rich, I have no desire to go there.

Yeah, the article does not exactly paint a flattering picture of the Tanzanian government, either.

This thread is useless without more Nermal pics.

How do they have records going back 50,000 years?

2007-06-10 10:42:49 AM
It's time for them to come to grips with reality. If they want to survive as a people they need to embrace the modern world as a people. Start making some money and buy some land. Either that or stand and fight and go out in a blaze of glory.

2007-06-10 10:43:14 AM
Whatever. The natural world doesn't have any use for peoples who do not believe in God.

2007-06-10 10:43:15 AM
We never should have given those people all the money in the world.

2007-06-10 10:45:05 AM
anIndian: Get out of your farking cubicle and see the world.

It doesn't work. Because wherever you go, there you are.

anIndian:Even if you cannot do anything about it, it is not something to make fun of.

Fark much?

Every time you fill up your hummer,a tribe disappears.

2007-06-10 10:47:41 AM
I enjoyed that article. The writer included little descriptions of the tribe that said, "fark, I can describe these people, but you'll never believe it."

2007-06-10 10:48:21 AM
50,000 years? On what do they base that nice round number? If they have evidence that this "same" tribe has been around that long, great, but more than likely it's an assumed relationship between the current tribe and the 50,000 year-old artifacts. 'Cause, you know, in the Western world, only the same "tribes" inhabit any given spot for 50,000 years straight. Right?

2007-06-10 10:48:58 AM
You can't go from hunter-gatherer to the digital global economy overnight.

At least ship them over to live with the Amish for a generation or two... kind of ease into it.

NeverDrunk23: Not at all obscure (but I'm 27) - that was the connotation "Abu Dhabi" had for me before the whole "oil sheiks figure out that oil might not last forever, might wish to consider branching out" thing started.

Good: UAE member city-states opening their minds to economic possibilities other than oil, tolerating some foreigners' non-obnoxious behavior (booze, private religious practice, women going out in public unveiled and unaccompanied, etc.)

Bad: UAE member city-states tolerating only "preferred" foreigners' behavior, allowing the abuse of non-preferred foreigners, not embracing other elements of modernity such as democracy.

Lol...I was wondering if I was the only one who immediately thought of that. Garfield even had a song about mailing Nermal to Abu Dhabi...ah, back in the days when Saturday morning actually meant something...

wow if they've really tested mitochondrial dna and those peopel have been in the same area for 50,000 years that is rather fantastic. I hope they're left alone.

Sunny Ray: Whatever. The natural world doesn't have any use for peoples who do not believe in God.

So is there a special troll school you go to? Because it seems I see a troll from you in many threads. This one isn't even very good. C- at best.

Of course the Earth is only 6000 years old. You just have to understand science. See, you cut open the Earth and count the rings. It's quite simple, really.

2007-06-10 10:55:03 AM
As a 50,000 year old Tanzanian tribesman, I'm really getting a kick out of some of these replies.

Barely a D. You need to go back to school.

Methinks the UAE royal has a very small dik-dik.

Plus, it's Tanzania, it's not like those folks won't be wiped out with machetes next week anyway.

Do did you NOT read the article, or did you skip over the part that listed the hardships they've survived for the past 50,000 years?

2007-06-10 11:00:19 AM
ooooohh.....you guys are sooooooo smart ....... you have me all figured out! A+ for the lot of you.

Good idea about the Amish, McRat. They get eased into 21st century soceity and skills, and the Amish women get a chance at that ol' Jungle Fever thang.

They should be more like those forward-thinking arabs.

beirmaster Barely a D. You need to go back to school

If you saw Sunny Ray's work on the Paris Hilton threads you wouldn't insinuate that he needs more education; you'd be begging to sit at his feet and learn troll-fu.

Not one of his best efforts, though. Oh well, can't hit a grand slam every time at bat...

2007-06-10 11:05:57 AM
From a personal standpoint its sickening.
.....and anthropologically speaking, it likely going to be an even further destruction and lose of knowledge.

2007-06-10 11:07:20 AM
the resilient Hadzabe, who still make fire with sticks, fear that the safari deal will be their undoing

If after 50,000 years you still haven't figured out how to upgrade to banging rocks together, the world just might not loose much with your passing.

2007-06-10 11:08:09 AM
This is so depressing.
