Milwaukee?

Meh.

No big surprise.

Attention K-Mart shoppers

2007-06-09 08:43:15 PM
Right, because her daughter is the only one graduating.

2007-06-09 08:43:33 PM
That seems like a reasonable response....

2007-06-09 08:43:36 PM
"The woman told police she'd made the bomb reference to her daughter, not to school officials."

So her defense is that they weren't supposed to find out that she wanted to blow up the school.

2007-06-09 08:44:55 PM
Damn, mom won't be cashiering at McDonalds tonight...

Driver, 75, hits wrong pedal, gas station

It was an odd list of things to steal -- whiskey, a thermometer and some lettuce.

Two stories down we have an elderly woman stepping on the wrong pedal and crashing into a gas station. Equally Farkworthy.

2007-06-09 08:47:35 PM
Woman trifecta in effect?

I'd guess her defense is that she made a passing remark to her daughter that no rational person would construe as an actual threat.

"Nobody's gonna tell me how to dress my kids!"
"I'll kill you all before I conform to your evil dress codes!"

WTF?

2007-06-09 08:56:36 PM
I'm a mother from Milwaukee who makes bomb threats because of asinine dress codes and I'm getting a kick out of these responses.

2007-06-09 08:57:01 PM
God forbid you actually try to teach your little cherubs how the world works so they're better suited for dealing with it once they reach the age of 18, why do you insist on trying to change the world to suit your children instead of vice versa?

2007-06-09 08:59:12 PM
There was a flap in my area a while back about a mother who felt her offspring had been wronged in court. She said something like, I'm gonna blow this shiat up. She was using "to blow up" in the sense of bring publicity to, not in the sense of detonating an explosive. Confusion ensued.

Just goes to show, when you outlaw denim...

Seems rational to me. If your kid can't wear denim why wouldn't a sane human being blow up a school?

2007-06-09 09:05:59 PM
phillydrifter: yeah, no one should ever try to change the world, especially not for their children.

2007-06-09 09:06:13 PM
You've got to admit, jeans are comfy.

2007-06-09 09:08:28 PM
So, they Wrangled her into custody?

2007-06-09 09:10:18 PM
So, it couldn't possibly be that she said, "I'll blow up the school before my daughter can't wear jeans under her damn graduation robe where no one can even see them." and it was taken out of context?

I sincerely doubt she was actually going to make the school go splody.

Jeans? Comfy? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Threating to blow up your kids school because you're too damn lazy to buy a decent pair of pants for her is just plain weird.

Women's jeans had to be designed by men. Only women's jeans perfect contour to their asses making you drool. Unless the ass is the size of a basketball, in which case... EWW.

Does jeans are da bomb!!!

2007-06-09 09:39:02 PM
Three things:
- It seems to've been an offhand remark, and someone was brainwashed by "Tell someone" commercials & ilk.
- Why couldn't her daughter wear what she wanted to graduation? Seems like the school is just a bit controlling.
- It's not disorderly conduct if it's words & not, y'know, conduct. Because, y'know, free speech & stuff.

Mom's can suck the mustard from my manmeat, but that Allen Edmonds sale has me cooking! Great shoes, only around 200 bones a pair.

I'm convinced people are insane.

Maybe she was pissed because she had spent so much time 'Bedazzling' the jeans with "Class of 2007"

2007-06-09 10:08:04 PM
I read mom....blow...daughter...and I get this?

2007-06-09 10:10:16 PM
If she really wants her daughter to wear those jeans she should promise to blow the director instead.

2007-06-09 10:15:37 PM
this is retarded, stupid farktard of a mom.

2007-06-09 10:16:04 PM
Indeed it was Hawnkee. Tags better than "weird" for this story include Dumbass, Stupid, perhaps even Asinine.

I was planning on going straight from my graduation to a party. I subscribed to the same idea as mentioned by simpsonfan that I would be wearing a gown over my clothes, so what difference would it make anyway?

The teacher in charge of my graduation saw that I was wearing sandals instead of black dress shoes. He told me that he wasn't going to let me walk across the stage and that I wouldn't graduate with the rest of my class.

wtf does it matter anyway?

here's a picture for no reason:

I too was enraged by my graduation dress code, but I went about it the right way.

For my high school graduation, there wasn't an inkling of any rule regarding whether females could wear any kind of formal slacks under their robe for the ceremony. This got to me, as I am of the belief that just because I am female, it doesn't mean I have to wear a skirt to be formal.

I filed an appeal, as stated on the form with the code, and met with my senior class advisor (who I already went to war with over my cap and gown in the first place).

It went like this.

"I'm appealing the dress code, here's the written appeal."
"Okay, what are you appealing?"
"I'm appealing the rule regarding wearing a skirt or a dress."
"What will you wear?"
"Just a dress shirt and some formal pants."
"Okay, that's fine."

End of story, nobody got hurt.

I think we can all blame our entitlement culture here. "The rules don't apply to me" is what this woman is saying. What a great thing to teach your daughter. Admittedly, jeans are a pretty stupid thing, and most of us break the rules occasionally. We speed, or jaywalk, or try to return something after the 30 day period is up. But we exercise judgement, and anyone who is threatening to blow up the school is not exercising judgement.

/Besides, I'm pretty sure McDonald's employees wear slacks, not jeans.

2007-06-10 12:16:52 AM
Fine, send her for waterboarding at Guantanamo. We must send Wisconsinites there so we don't have to deal with them here.

Blow the school? Damn, talk about lock jaw!

Appropriate that the soccer moms responsible for terror paranoia would take up terror tactics.

After all... it does make sense.

clearly this means that everyone who wears jeans is a crazy jerk.

/doesn't own any jeans

Mom?

What is with all the over-reaction?

DodgerOfZion should emerge from her anonymity and save us all with her common sense. Maybe she could do an advice column or run for President or something.

Gasp, shock. Write a polite letter questioning a policy you disagree with!? What a concept.

Nevermind, going to bed.

Every year some asshat complains about the graduation dress code. I think this may be the first bomb threat.

What, you couldn't just toss the sandals in your car and change into them after the ceremony?

FTFA - "Milwaukee Police Capt. Darlene Jenkins said the woman was arrested on a pending charge of disorderly conduct after allegedly making the threat during a phone call to Madison High School around noon Friday.

The woman told police she'd made the bomb reference to her daughter, not to school officials."

Slight discrepancy there. Either Mom DID call an official or the daughter she was trying to "help" ratted her out. If the latter, the girl knows something about Mommy that the guys with butterfly nets ought to know.
