Kazaa, gnutella - sure these all contribute, but no peer-to-peer network has the sheer volume and number of songs that Napster did at its peak usage (mid-late 2000).

So, um...now that Napster's been closed down for quite a while...how can the RIAA blame file sharing on a continuing decline in sales?

You know, it's not surprising they're all mentioning FARK. After all, once one news source cites us, all the others have to too, or they look incomplete. You can be sure they read each others' work.

I bought my first cd in 1989, cost me 18 bucks. I just bought a cd last week, cost me 18 bucks. I would be willing to pay an extra 5 bucks a month to download all the songs I want and the money can be distributed however it needs to be. And the record industry is full of crap about how it hurts the artists since most of those guys only get about a nickel per cd sold and have to make the cash on tour. which explains why fans get gouged for tickets to shows.
