I've always wanted an answer to this question:

How would you label Ohio geographically in the United States?

Is it East coast, Midwest, Central, North East? Where?
2007-06-05 02:17:10 PM
Ohio beats Indiana anyday.

I live in Cincinnati, and its exciting as hell. Walk out around the town and you're bound to see a Bengal get arrested, and, if you are lucky, you may be the one to call the cops to report the crime!

Owner goes nuts over missing squirrel
Don Heil of Tiffin is glad to have his friend back home.

Late Thursday night, Heil's fiberglass squirrel, Fred, was stolen from the yard of his home on Euclid Avenue.

"I thought we had lost him forever," Heil said.

Heil said Fred must have been stolen sometime Thursday night. When he woke up Friday morning, Fred was missing.

"I think there was a graduation party last night and some kids got a little frisky," Heil said.

Heil filed a report with the Seneca County Sheriff's Office and informed the Tiffin Police to be on the lookout for Fred.

Heil received a phone call from an officer at the sheriff's office who said Fred was found on the south side of the Seneca County Fairgrounds.

Fred was returned to Heil Saturday.

Delores Heil, Don's wife, said Fred is in good shape; he just has a few scratches on his tail.

Heil said it must have taken at least three people to remove Fred from his yard.

In order to steal the squirrel, the culprits had to pull it from the ground, where it was secured with a stake and a concrete stand, Heil said .

Fred was a one of the squirrels featured in the Parade of Squirrels program by the Tiffin Chamber of Commerce.

The squirrels originally cost the local businesses $795, not including decorating.

The squirrels were on display from June 15, 2005, to Oct. 1, 2005, and sold at auction later that October to benefit the City of Tiffin Bikeways and Walkways project.

Heil bought Fred at the auction for $250, according to the Chamber of Commerce.

Heil said he put in enough work on Fred to make the 5-foot fiberglass statue worth around $750.

According to the Chamber of Commerce, Fred was at one time the Super-Shopper Squirrel, on display at Westgate Shopping Center in Tiffin.

Heil altered Fred's original look and gave the animal a new coat of paint, a name tag and an acorn which Fred holds in his paws.

After a little paint, Fred is to once again take his post in the yard.

This time he will be anchored down a little better, Heil said.

I drove across Ohio to Sandusky a couple of years ago. Nothing but farms and football fields.

The NFL Hall of Fame in Canton is a cool place to visit, though. Didn't have enough time to stop in Cleveland and visit the Rock HoF.

Tell them that they must stand behind the tape on the floor outside the cubicle...or - if you're going to drop a turkey from a helicopter, make sure it's not frozen.

Hey Cable77! Don't you go dissen my state without backing up your claim! Connecticut is way better than 0HI0!
2007-06-05 02:43:06 PM

Ohio is the start of the Midwest - I lived there for some time and can say that will authority. I knew one woman from Cleveland that always said Ohio was "East Coast" but she only said that to avoid the Midwest stereotype.

Sometimes considered "Rust Belt" along with the rest of the states that border the Great Lakes.

PA is East Coast or to be more specific "Mid-Atlantic": PA, MD, VA, DE and sometimes NJ/WVA

/no real set rules that I know of, but Ohio is culturally Midwest compared to other eastern states.

Ohio only sucks south of Strongsville.
