When FoxNews can't win the propaganda war, then the next directive from Rove is to distract.

/oh look, shiny!

2007-06-02 02:53:58 PM
To be fair, that sounds like a good balance.

How about the 'War on Christmas?'

/Didn't EVERY news station focus on Anna Nicole?
//Fox just did what everyone else did

2007-06-02 03:48:59 PM
Right now I'm busy gearing up to fight the "War on Flag Day".

The secular humanists are trying to take it away from the true patriots. You watch....by 2010 they'll be lobbying to rename it "PFlag Day".

To be fair, that sounds like a good balance.

Just like they promised. (Personally, I found their Anna Nicole coverage a little topheavy)

//stocks to benefit include Berretta and suicide cleanup service firms

NeverDrunk23: /Didn't EVERY news station focus on Anna Nicole?

Yes, but according to TFA, Fox spent significantly more time than the other two major news channels devoted to Anna Nicole's unremarkable anus.

Let's move to bizzaro world for a second.

Earlier today I watched five minutes of "Forbes on Fox". The topic was, "What stocks will benefit from Paris Hilton going to jail?" Some of the answers were Google and Coach handbags. I laughed because I'm out of tears.

Seriously, what the hell happened to the paragraph and collection of coherent thought?

It's almost as if they're trying to distract people...

2007-06-02 04:51:23 PM
I found it so ironic that the media gave such a heartfelt and sorrowful farewell to a woman they spent their entire lives mocking.

farking media.

Anna Nicole -> Imus -> Virginia Tech -> Alec Baldwin -> OUT OF CONTROL TEEN STARLETS

I think that's 2007's TV news cycle so far.

They hate us for our fat, drugged up, no talent, dead Ho's....

2007-06-02 05:14:57 PM
Basically, they think their audience are idiots, even as their commentators play up the "liberal elitists think you're stupid and think Bush is stupid and think you're stupid for voting for stupid Bush, but really we know something they don't" angles on their talking-head shows. I don't watch Fox to be informed. I watch it for the same reason I'll watch "Faces of Death", grim fascination.

"liberal elitists think you're stupid and think Bush is stupid and think you're stupid for voting for stupid Bush, but really we know something they don't"

...and of course, in time, which makes a monkey of us all...

I don't watch Fox, I watch CNN. And CNN's coverage of Anna Nicole Smith was so ridiculously interminable and pathetic that I don't think it would be possible for any other network to have "significantly" more coverage of her. And FSM help us all if it were.

Didn't you get the memo...It's just a few dead enders in their last throes but we still must fight them over there so we don't have to fight them over here...

FoxNews needs to add the word 'do' to the beginning of one of their slogans.

fools thought "/sarcasm" was a footnote ("slashie") and ran with it

(also: "Hey kids, it's Slashie, the Christmas Serial Killer!")

Don't make fun, dude. I heard Iraqi terrorists are amazing swimmers.

FoxNews did the country a service, distracting us fer our freedoms.

Maybe she was having a better year?

I got to admit I had to keep count of everyone who claimed to be the baby's father.

Sometimes you need a score card to keep track.

Then her and poor old James Brown lying around while people squabbled over their bones.
Right out of Jerry Springer's show.

If people spent as much time ignoring Fox News as they do talking about how they hate it, the station would be off the air by now.

/every news station is biased one way or the other
//if you dont like the new station, don't watch it

2007-06-02 10:15:06 PM
yeah 50% of the time they're trumpeting the victories of the right.
50% of the time they're demonizing the left.

fair and balanced.

machoprogrammer

The people biatching about it generally don't watch it: they're biatching about it because of the pernicious effect it has had on news in general, and the way its frequent viewers seem to be perpetually misinformed.

That's a traditional conservative group there. Not this new breed of conservatives but old school conservatives.

There's a war in Iraq?

2007-06-03 12:36:09 AM
Well duh. Anna Nichole died dude! Get back to me when someone dies in Iraq, then you might have a point.

2007-06-03 12:51:18 AM
My biggest problem with Fox News is the amount of advertising. I might watch it to fulfill some sadistic urge, but when it is 50% commercials I lose interest. I always find myself gravitating back toward C-Span.

2007-06-03 05:58:20 AM
I don't watch Fox News.

So far, it seems to have solved my problems.

Maybe I miss the point of keeping my TV tuned into Fox just because I hate it so much. I still don't get it.

2007-06-03 09:43:17 AM
do you guys seriously get that much of a stiffy ripping on fox news? Everyone covered anna nicole, get off your high horse.

2007-06-03 09:59:15 AM
Submitter fails at grammar. That is all.

swarmspawn: do you guys seriously get that much of a stiffy ripping on fox news? Everyone covered anna nicole, get off your high horse.

Read the article. It shows that Fox spent less than half the time covering Iraq that MSNBC did and 10 percentage points less than CNN. They spent twice as much time on Anna than the other two.

2007-06-03 12:24:58 PM
I'm not big on watching any of the cable news channels (mostly watch PBS & C-SPAN) but after reading the article I may take another look at MSNBC. Their coverage seems to line up with my interests a bit better.

Well, at least that's pretty much over with. Now if they'd just quit covering Rosie O'Donnel every time she farts, as if that was actual news.

/grammer terrible
//I'm tired
