It was around Elkhart, Indiana where the women are strong and folks mind their own business.

$1 to buy, $20 mil to demolish. I'm betting it's full of asbestos or worse.

Elkhart, IN...home of Reign Man-turned-Michelin Man Shawn Kemp. Is it any wonder that an Alka-Seltzer factory would exist there?

Plop plop fizz fizz, oh what a bargain that is.

Elkhart is also the home of an RV dealer with the charming name of Tom Raper.

You have to spend 6 million dollars to maintaining that place... what in the world takes 6 million a year to maintain? You can maintain small countries including food and clothing for the entire population on 6 million a year!!!

2002-08-28 11:51:04 AM
I can't beleive I bought the whooooole thing.

2002-08-28 11:53:44 AM
"Hey, Millhouse! Do you wanna come work at my factory?"

2002-08-28 11:57:53 AM
id buy it except they're only going to give it to someone who has the money to maintain it and a good business plan. its not like you could just buy it, bring a generator and just use it as a house or anything.

2002-08-28 12:03:35 PM
I've dated women that require six million buck a year to maintain.

2002-08-28 12:06:29 PM
What if I bought it and refused to maintain it, eh? What would they do then? I would buy it and make sure it turned into an eye sore in the community, what would they do then?
They would have to buy it from me for 2 no $3, nothing like tripling my money...sweet...I'm getting that factory. Maybe I'll rent it to ravers so they can party it up, or a big paintball facility, or a real life CS/Half Life arena! YES YES!

BTW: That was my favourite Simpson's episode

$6million for a Bayer factory...what a headache...hahahhahhahahhhaha

see, because they make aspirin

2002-08-28 12:24:14 PM
Hey, Bart bought an abandoned factory for $1, didn't he? And that turned out well.
Wasn't Bayer one of those Nazi companies that experimented on Jews during WWII?

2002-08-28 12:44:11 PM
Bill Clinton would bomb it and claim it was an Al Qaida facility.

2002-08-28 12:55:53 PM
Why not make it Farkistan

2002-08-28 01:07:54 PM
You could buy the factory, take all the equipment out, and rent each square foot to French immigrants for $1 a month per square foot. That way you contain French expansion and make a profit. Screw the "maintenance costs."

6 Mill to maintain? Hmmm

Property Taxes
Business Taxes
Electricity
Heat (If non - electric)
Water

I can't see the above being 6 mill, That tab must include security, landscape maintenance, & general building repair, even then 6 mill seems high.

2002-08-28 01:10:10 PM
that would suck if you owned a nearby tavern, and then when the plant crumbled, all of the rats went into your bar and you had to tell all of your customers to tuck their pantlegs into their socks.

2002-08-28 01:26:49 PM
Maintaining a building is very expensive. Just to repair a roof from weather can easily run over 1 million dollars for patching and painting with epoxy paint. Maintenance to the firesystem (pumps for boosting pressure and repairing leaks in underground pipes,) electricity for the whole place (over $10,000 a month easy,) and on and on and on... Maintenance is just the beginning. You better have some serious help and financial backing for thousands of full time details.

You better have production running quickly or the operation will nickle and dime you to death within minutes after buying it.

Reschly: Buy it and have Fark move its base to there.

I'm sure that if enough farkers pitch in this could be the site for the Elkhart IN annual Fark Party!

Worlds largest beer fridge.

2002-08-28 06:44:27 PM
I know that place well.

There used to be a lot of strange shiat going on in the basement in the animal testing lab.

My friend had a strange illiness that cleared up when he quit working in that building.

And you can bet your ass that there are "Mystery Barrels" buried around the property.

2002-08-28 09:28:21 PM
A place like that will go to hell in a hand basket,in a hurry, with no maintenance. Once the roof goes, it's all over.
