Some genius repeated robbed the bank on the first floor of the Silver Springs building that housed the FBI. He actually was successful about 2 times but then the next time he went in there, there was an FBI agent depositing his check.

When they led him out, they pointed to the sign by the bank that said "FBI office".

The Downtown Mall in Charlottesville is beautiful. I go to school there and its the best place to hang out or bring dates to, specially at night.

If he was on FARK by noon, that means his local paper's really got their ish together, too.

DTRA(y) but appreciated smitty's sentiment. brvo+1

And apparently it took more than one guy to pull off this well-conceived plan:

"Police Chief Tim Longo says they may be making more arrests in the near future. 'We have reason to believe that there may have been others involved" he stated.'"

Not around here you don't. A woman robbed a branch of my bank (on foot in the drive through) and was never caught. The bank is less than 30 yards from the police station. Did I mention she was in the drive through?

weird, I clicked on the link because "government center" made me think boston, which is where I live, but the article is really about charlottesville, which is where my finance lives.

Three master criminals robbed the bank on my block a few years back. They failed to notice the billboard across the street from the bank for the local mall. It was local law enforcement week in the mall where they show off their cars, dogs, donut fryers, whatever. There were 45 responding police cars at the bank in less than 2 minutes. First two robbers out the door ran to their car but decided against it when the lot was so full of police vehicles that they had no way to move it and took off on foot through my neighborhood. Robber number three made the mistake of pointing his gun in the general direction of the waves of police. He died in the doorway of the bank of what the paper called 'massive gunshot trauma'. Robber number one ran through some yards and attempted to cross a creek to get to the express way. He did not take into consideration the additional weight of the soaking wet bill he had stuffed into his jacket and his lack of swimming abilities with a shotgun in one hand. He was fished out when dollar bills started drifting downstream. He was rich for about one minute before he drowned. Robber number two hid out under a junked car in an overgrown field. He was not discovered for about hald an hour. Thats when the herd of German Sheapards {sp?} showed up. The dogs started nosing about the car rather quickly. I guess when you sh*t your pants the keen smelling of the dogs can pick that up easily. His big mistake was trying to outrun the pack of rather enthusiastic animals. He made it about 20 yards. The dog handlers didn't seem in too much of a hurry to pull the dogs off him. They just kept yelling to 'lay still'. I don't think they considered the 'six dogs pulling limbs in different directions' effect on 'laying still'. He looked like someone put him through a meat grinder after they got him cuffed. We gave the dogs treats. We also gave a cop a plastic bag to put the soaked cash in. One of the robbers tossed a gun while running which the cops couldn't find. They told my parents about it so we would know what to do IF we happened to find it. That would become our mission, and a whole other story.

/back in the 'respect for cops' days
// get off my lawn
///except you guys with the guns are o.k.

Missed it by 1 minute!!

If I'd thought about it a minute more, the headline would've been "What happens when you rob a bank at 9am 2 blocks from the police station and government center? You're in jail by 9:15, on the local news page by 9:27 and on Fark by noon"

Oh well - went up there over lunch and overheard the cops talking - apparently they think he wasn't alone because he had a 2 way radio.

If he was on FARK by noon, that means his local paper's really got their ish together, too.

The TV station is across the street from the Police station. (and this Farker's apartment is even closer to the bank than the police station - that's what really did him in, I'm sure - don't Fark with a Farker and his money).

Submitter obviously can't count blocks either, since the police station is in the adjacent block!

I walked by as this was happening today; the Chief of Police was squatting behind a large planter, so I figured something might be worth watching. Several other police were also crouched behind planters with guns drawn, yelling at everyone to get the hell away (I was behind a tree at a decent distance).

Some really old guy comes putting along in a motorized wheelchair, heading right towards one of the cops and the shattered entrance to the bank. The cop, hand on gun, starts repeatedly screaming at the old man to turn around before he gets anywhere close. Old man keeps chugging along until he's like 5 yards away from the policeman; I thought he was gonna shoot the tires out on the wheelchair.

Old man parks right next to the cop and the bank door and says something inaudible to me like "eh, sonny?". Cop's face couldn't have been more enraged.

Hah! Count again monkey-man! You put the police station in the parking garage! (Police Station is the marker on the right, the bank the one on the left. Farker's apartment is in lower left corner of picture). Fark with me again, Kendoway, and I'll walk into your office and rochambeau you! ;)
