nauteeprincess: Cue the HAHA guys.

No...Cue the fat chick in a Steelers shirt.

\It's just soooooooooooo funny!
\\Get it? She's fat and unattractive, like all Pittsburghers! *slaps knee*

Isn't that what an offensive line coach is supposed to do?

/too obvious?

I don't see a problem here. He said he made a mistake and he and his family are obviously suffering because of it....

Ah who am I kidding.

FTA:"The problem occurred two weeks ago when Zierlein -- a 61-year-old grandfather -- intended to forward the video clip, which was e-mailed to him by another Steelers employee. However, Zierlein accidentally e-mailed the video to numerous league personnel, causing staff members with other NFL teams to begin discussing the foul-up"

I think this says it all.

2007-06-01 01:13:18 PM
Zierlein did not explain why, when after he initially viewed the video he didn't delete it rather than attempting to e-mail to someone else.

Yes! He must explain why he not only viewed pornography but emailed it to a friend. I'm shocked that people use computers for pornography. I had assumed that they were for writing school papers, balancing checkbooks, printing recipes, and playing educational games like Rabbit Algebra. This is quite a wake up call to say the least.

Haha... email noobs... gotta love them.

i guess i feel short-changed now.

i only have a 'Reply All' button. 'to'? not mine. ;^(

The best part is he pulls the old man card to try and get out of this

"But I'm just a confused old man! I don't know how to use this newfangled internets"

Ugh, we had a reply-to-all mishap at work yesterday. Some dumbshiat put the distribution list in the CC field for an advertisement, which only included 12,000 email addresses.

The exchange server was ramming a 500KB reply file about every 30 seconds from people asking to be taken off the list, others saying to stop the replies, and even more expressing frustration at the sluggishness of the whole system.

Yay for idiots, and another yay for filter rules.

This article reminds me of my tech challenged old boss.

He was dialing on speaker phone to our home office and the prompt told him to press #1. He repeatedly struck the #1 key on his computer keyboard and got really angry because wasn't working. I nearly had an aneurysm trying to keep from laughing at his dumb ass.

2007-06-01 01:18:21 PM
This is the best story I've read today. Accidentally mass-emailing porn is SOOOO 2001, but it never ceases to be hilarious.

Don't care as long as they leave the Delete All button alone.

/I love my Delete All button.

Very surprised this part hasn't been quoted yet.

"but when you've been at this stuff for as long as a lot of us have, tough things happen" - Says a 61 year old man who isn't good at these machines.

/love vague references to CYA

"It's these damned, dirty MACHIIIIIINNNNEESSSSSS!"

2007-06-01 01:20:10 PM
I don't understand. Who would be upset about receiving free porn?

I mean, come on here!

2007-06-01 01:21:45 PM
From TFA:

"...but when you've been at this stuff for as long as a lot of us have, tough things happen and you've got to move on and that's what we're doing."
...
"I'm not very good at these machines and I hit the wrong button," Zierlein said. "There's nothing else to say, no other explanation."

So he still can't master email after being at it for [apparently] a long time. Hmmm.

2007-06-01 01:21:46 PM
i like porno so i'm really getting a kick out of these replies

This story has made my day...what a moron!!! When I am even thinking about emailing something that could be even remotely offensive I check three times who it is being sent too!!! This guy obviosly could not take his hand off captain america long enough to concentrate on his email!!!! What a putz

I hope it was a good video at least!

Explicit sex video? Had to be hillarious.

2007-06-01 01:24:37 PM
God, I only WISH we could do away with the "Reply to All" button at my job. When someone gets a promotion, there's no reason to offer congratulations to the entire company because you're too stupid/lazy to figure out the difference between "Reply," "Forward" and "Reply to All."

Now if we could just go after the "Fwd" button next so I don't keep getting crap chain letters/prayers/jingoistic propaganda/scams/hoaxes from my crazy aunt and all her friends. Fortunately I filter anything with a "FW" or "FWD" into the trash.

2007-06-01 01:25:30 PM
FTFA:
"It's hard because I made an inexcusable mistake," Zierlein said, discussing the matter for the first time. "It was hard first for the organization. They had to explain and go through ... and my family, for what they're going to have to hear.(fapping from the den) So it was tough, but when you've been at this stuff for as long as a lot of us have(watching porn), tough things happen and you've got to move on and that's what we're doing."

/writes itself

I wonder if it was that clip of the woman blowing the horse and puking. That's some grandfatherly goodness right there.

2007-06-01 01:33:38 PM
"Reply To All" oughta have a couple of annoying "are you sure" pop-ups before it executes.

2007-06-01 01:34:20 PM
I've had something similar happen at work. Guy ran in my office in a huff trying to explain how he just sent out a HUGE internal memo to the wrong distro list and now all of our employees knew about quite a few things more than the upper management wanted.

/there was a big meeting where i explained the internets
//mistake made again in the next week
///never any good porn though...

2007-06-01 01:38:28 PM
I just wish as a society we can all acknowledge that most American males like porn. And stop being embarrassed about it. Why does the article mention the fact he is a grandfather other than to add to the layer of shame? He doesn't work with his grandchildren, they probably live in another town.

2007-06-01 01:40:52 PM
so if it was forwarded to him, and he hit Reply All, per submitters comment, didn't all of them already see it? It will only reply to anyone listed in the last sent email entry.

EddyKilowatt

Come on now Eddy, you should know that end users would just complain about "why do we have to keep hitting Yes for asking if I want to send the email?!?"

:p

/No one reads signs/pop-ups anymore.

Reminds me when the HR person accidentally mailed out an excel file with everyone's annual salary. Then yelled at us for reading it. Because it was our fault we were sent sensitive information and didnt realize it, even though it was from the head of HR and said 'Important, read now!'

fo_sho!, I am intrigued by your ideas and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

He must have added NFLGROUP[nospam-﹫-backwards]LFN*com or whatever. Most offices have a group e-mail addy...although, that still doesn't explain why he added the group unless one of his reply buttons auto-adds the group.

The exchange server was ramming a 500KB reply file...

Introduce your exchange admins to the miracle of Org->Message Delivery->Defaults->Recipient limits. The message will never get started.

/Funny.
//Because that happened to me too.

1) 61 years old ! I'm impressed he even uses a computer !

2) I think we all can agree that we'll need to see the evidence before passing judgement.

3) In today's workplace, this is usually the warfare equivalent of stepping on a land mine. Most folks don't make it out alive after something like this. If any chicks were on that mailing list, he'd have been gone before he had a chance to get coffee.

2007-06-01 01:58:13 PM
from rtfa-he didn't hit reply all.
"-- intended to forward the video clip, "

I bet autocomplete bit his Ass

To the morons at work that send mail to everyone... If you're gonna spam all of us with pics of your kids or fluffy the cat, at least put us all in the BCC field so when the other asshats at work "reply-to-all", their replies just go back to you.

Too bad the article didn't list his caption.

"Last time I saw jugs move like that a group of villagers in 'Nam were passing them in a line down the river!"

Better yet, was it Mr_Hands.mpg??

2007-06-01 02:24:18 PM
I took the "reply to all" buttons out of my mail program just for this exact reason.

(Can still do it in the pull down menu.)

That was after one of my co-workers forwarded an email criticizing a customer for being a whiny biatch (she was) to the entire list of people in on the conversation, including the biatch herself and the VP there as well.

2007-06-01 02:26:24 PM
If your family makes you feel guilty about forwarding explicit sex videos, it's time to get a new family who's less judgmental and more fun-loving.

2007-06-01 02:34:18 PM
"I'm not very good at these machines and I hit the wrong button," Zierlein said. "There's nothing else to say, no other explanation."

how about i was watching filthy pron using company resources and should be kissing my lucky astrix i have not been fired .. yet ...
