The story is about a video. There is no video included with the article. Not cool.
2007-05-31 12:51:52 PM
Leave it to CNN to report about a video (that even the BBC showed), but not actually SHOW the video.
2007-05-31 12:53:05 PM
This article is worthless without video. They didn't even have a screen cap. How stupid.
2007-05-31 12:54:28 PM
It's a streetlight.
2007-05-31 12:56:21 PM
Someone got a link to the actual video?
2007-05-31 12:59:57 PM
"'Nessie' was first captured on video in the 1930s"

So was that when he killed the radio star?
2007-05-31 01:04:37 PM
There are a number of possible explanations to the sightings in the loch. It could be some biological creature

I sure as fark hope so. I'd be really scared if it were a non-biological creature.

When the video is released, you can be sure that it will ambiguous. Guaranteed.

Why might you ask? When people spend 70 years looking for something that doesn't exist, you expect to find mostly nothing, and occasionally find evidence that is weak and ambiguous. It's expected.
2007-05-31 01:06:06 PM
CNN. Farking CNN.
2007-05-31 01:13:20 PM

Whoever posted that needs to pony up for the non trial version of their software. And the guy has a 6 head.
2007-05-31 01:21:22 PM
Sharch: When the video is released, you can be sure that it will ambiguous. Guaranteed.

Quick cap from the video.
2007-05-31 01:24:57 PM

some people say they are seeing these things...
2007-05-31 01:25:32 PM
This just in. Sean Connery was spotted crouching on the Loch shore an hour before the video was shot. After taking core samples with a chain saw, local scientists have confirmed that what was believed to be Nessie was, in reality, Sean Connery's dump.

(dramatic re-enactment)

they're not hawt, but, dammit, those accents are. why, oh why, can i not tell the difference between good looking women and those with british isles' accents?
2007-05-31 01:26:55 PM
Why do Scottish women sound exactly like Scottish men, tone and all?
that was totally unsexy.
2007-05-31 01:37:24 PM
What credentials are required to become an "amateur scientist"?
2007-05-31 01:45:56 PM

I see the resemblance here....
2007-05-31 01:49:27 PM
(1) CNN Can't be bothered to link to the video

(2) YouTube video is watermarked 'uploader is a cheapskate'

Nul Points

Good find, ozone.
2007-05-31 02:07:16 PM
2007-05-31 02:07:17 PM
There is a better quality video here. Though, the actual footage is only shown briefly.
2007-05-31 02:08:36 PM
Someone needs to make a decent anamitronic Nessie and have it terorrize a beach with a lot of people.

Fling some boats, shoot fire like truckasaurus, then retreat into the deep, all with sound effects.
2007-05-31 02:08:39 PM
Anyone with a brain knows this is a crock. Just as Pen and Teller.
2007-05-31 02:09:01 PM
here's a more complete story with the nutjob who shot the video:/news/nort h_scotland/Man_believes_he_has_filmed_nessie

/does not believe in Nessie
//but Bigfoot is out there
2007-05-31 02:09:04 PM
Nessie videos are just video of the big fish posted above, or wave activity on the lake. Just my 2 cents...

Although the idea of a prehistoric monster still alive today is cool too. We've got Coaelscinths or whateva the fark, alligators... why not nessie?
In fact, what if aliens cross bred alligators with men, and not just regular men, but giant sized men from distant galaxies, but then they gave them fins and a big neck. Now THAT would be something.

/bored at work
2007-05-31 02:11:26 PM
I'm pretty sure that was Big Foot swimming.
2007-05-31 02:11:50 PM
What, that was it? That was the video (as linked by ozone)?

Well then, colour me convinced!
2007-05-31 02:11:57 PM
Until Nessie comes out of the water, smiles for the camera, makes a brief statement, and gets a publicist, a will not believe.
2007-05-31 02:11:57 PM
Forget Bigfoot.

We need some wooly mammoth sightings. That'd be the shiznit.
2007-05-31 02:12:05 PM
So he saw a thing, possibly an object, that is either a creature or not a creature, which exists either in reality or everyone's imagination.

"'Nessie' was first captured on video in the 1930s"

This is nothing short of amazing since video was invented 20 or so years later.
2007-05-31 02:14:45 PM
A crafty little fellah that Nessie is.
2007-05-31 02:15:10 PM

What the hell is that?
2007-05-31 02:15:11 PM
It's a streetligh... bah, too late again.
2007-05-31 02:16:02 PM
Definitely a street light swimming
2007-05-31 02:16:21 PM
I'm a plesiosaur and I'm getting a kick out of these replies.
2007-05-31 02:16:43 PM
Was it asking for about "tree fiddy"???
2007-05-31 02:16:55 PM
it's a publicity stunt. Read this:
2007-05-31 02:17:29 PM
wtf language are they speaking..anyone have an english version?
2007-05-31 02:17:53 PM
Doesn't ever special about the loch ness disprove that type of video.. I thought I heard it is probably just a school of fish or something.
2007-05-31 02:17:53 PM
a fark thread without a video, about a nessie article without a video is also useless.
2007-05-31 02:18:13 PM
It's still not real to me, dammit!
2007-05-31 02:18:17 PM
If the Loch Ness Monster is real, shouldn't it be dead by now?
2007-05-31 02:18:27 PM
Still no cure for cancer.

A book I read when I was a kid described just that scenario minus the flinging boats. If you know a 10 year old kid, get them a copy of The Mad Scientist Club this summer. Awesome summer reading for the pre-teen set.
2007-05-31 02:19:13 PM

What they said.

Nice haircut. Looks like he's wearing earmuffs.
