better than when they were finishing behind NASCAR rain delays during the San Antonio-Detroit FINALS.

I won't lie, sometimes when Spongebob is on at the same time the Spurs are playing, I find myself going back and forth between the two.

"Both hours of WWE Raw were watched by more people than any of the NBA games."

The WWE is honest about the contests being fixed.

2007-05-18 06:24:26 PM
Spongebob and Wrestling are the only things i like more than the NBA so i guess i am part of the problem.

2007-05-18 06:25:45 PM
Obviously they need to get Spongebob and Wrestling into the NBA.

Besides, we all know you were watching Hockey rather than basketball.

Because the League of Extraordinary Thugs needs an enema, STAT. Oh and a new commissioner too.

I was sort of watching until those suspensions, but now I will not watch anymore.

2007-05-18 06:46:38 PM
Well duh, the NBA isn't fun to watch while high at all.

Spongebob hasn't admitted it yet.

Spongebob isn't as funny as the Eastern Conference semis on tonight though.

I've been switching between hockey and the Hitler Channel.

History Channel does not equal the Hitler Channel anymore.

It is the UFO Channel now. Since when is that shiat history?

I realize this has no place in the sports tab, but...

FTFA: Less and less of us are watching the NBA playoffs.

ENGLISH motherfarker! Do you speak it?

Anyone know what the hockey ratings have been? Hopefully they can get good enough that Fox can pick the games back up here soon. Vs. sucks.

Good job Pistons. Havn't watched one game this year.

2007-05-18 07:51:56 PM
so there are a lot of retards and people who babysit their children with the tv... so what.

Spongebob is awesome, though.

and i like the guy who chimed in saying the league was full of thugs and then complaining about a rule the league has used to reduce fighting. that's some good thinking going on in that skull.

2007-05-18 07:55:10 PM
I for one gave up on the little wanna be gansta-thug, dreadlock tattoed NBA long ago.

I would'nt walk across the street to watch whomever the biggest star in the NBA eat a bale of hay. Put Latreen Spraywall and thug Iverson in a deathmatch, I might pay a quarter. Maybe.

The NBA has gone to hell and can stay there as far as I am concerned.

2007-05-18 07:57:04 PM
I'm watching Spongebob right now. Bubblebass is eating a Krabby Patty and is claiming that Spongebob failed to put the pickles on.

Or did he?

You obviously are the one lacking thinking ability. Was there a fight in the Suns/Spurs game? I must have missed it. The fact that it is THE ONLY league that has a leave the bench rule, to my knowledge, though I am not sure about the NHL speaks volumes towards the thuggishness of the league. In baseball they suspend your A** if you don't leave the bench. I love NBA apologists.

NHL ratings are up around 20% last I read. The cities involved at this point are onboard (Anaheim, Detroit, Buffalo) and Ottawa is getting national support across Canada (i'm from toronto though, fark 'em).

Well if some guy from Portland says it If some website with pics of hot babes says a guy from Portland says that NBA Playoff ratings plummeted, I believe it.

werent the ratings already pretty low anyway?

I realize you spelled stupid wrong on purpose...or at least I hope you did, but it is "you're" as in "you are stoopid" not your. It amazes me how many people don't know the difference or are just too lazy to realize it.

I know for a fact that if you left the bench/sidelines in the NFL or in the NHL for a fight, you'd be suspended and thrown out of the game (in reverse order).

STern should have suspended Duncan for leaving the bench earlier.

WSUCanuck: STern should have suspended Duncan for leaving the bench earlier.

it's only the "letter of the law" in special cases.

Here's the thing: the NBA's problems with criminality and asshatishness pale in comparison to the NFL's thuggery. But the NFL has long pursued a policy of de-emphasizing individual players in favor of promoting teams. So an asshat like Pacman Jones only causes so much damage to the team.

Stern always pushed this notion of promoting the stars, the big names. That's fine when you're promoting Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and especially Michael Jordan, but it doesn't work like it used to. But he can't seem to come up with anything new.

It's time for Stern to go.

yeah, he got WAYYYY too much credit for "revitalizing" the league. Gee, I'm sure it was so hard with good teams in big markets on each coast in the '80s and with a superstar in one of the biggest cities in the US in the '90s.

As a percent of total number of players in the league, without seeing the numbers in front of me, I would have to disagree with that statement.

OK, here is my issue with the NBA: they're confused.

It seems like the rules have gotten in front of the game. When the whistle blows everyone- players, fans, even the other refs. look to the whistle with a look of suspense and confusion because nobody knows day to day how the game will be called and by what rules. Then the loser of the call spends 30 seconds whining about it. Yeah, that's fun to watch. They should take a page from volleyball where they drastically changed the rules to the detriment of the players to make the game easier for fans to watch and comprehend. Eventually the players got used to it and ratings soared because fans could understand the game and the refs weren't center stage.

2007-05-19 12:21:56 AM
The NBA needs an NHL style major overhaul. The image needs to be cleaned up, and not just on the player's part. When fans can't trust that the games are decided by the play on the field (I'm looking at you, NFL) then it all falls apart quickly after that.

I think the NHL set a precedent with their overhaul. The NFL is doing so now with their crackdown on thugs. Hopefully the NBA will follow these leads.

2007-05-19 12:44:06 AM
Believe me, the NHL is full of monkeybusiness with the new obstruction-interference rules, the horrible diving, and the complete ignorance of things such as checking from behind. The constant parade to the penalty box... it sucks, IMO.

And I'm surprised Pronger was suspended at all for a play THAT HE WAS NOT PENALIZED FOR (not to say that the suspension wasn't deserved, mind you).

I do believe that the NHL has its own way to fix a series, just like the lame NBA.

Oh, and the day after the Suns suspensions were handed out, I loved watching one ESPN guy who said that the NBA was racist because it has a bench rule to reign in Black people, unlike the NHL where they don't try to reign in the Whites.

the NBA is racist, however, because their sport has an image where everyone is a thug if they get into a fight.

If baseball players get into a brawl, it's good times. If hockey players brawl, it's awesome. If NBA players fight, they're a bunch of thugs. It's just how it's perceived, and Stern overreacts because he's an idiot.

The NBA would have more viewers if it wasn't rigged.

btw, time for its ratings to drop exponentially.

Of course no one's watching the NBA playoffs.

Anyone with any sense is watching the Stanley Cup playoffs instead.
