How do I know this? Simple. Even before I (the only one to use this computer) had an account, it would say "(Name) is in your extended network." for absolutely every profile that I looked at.

Myspace has always required a valid email. It takes literally seconds to setup a Yahoo account that you will use only once.

No, it has nothing to do with laws. It's just Myspace (parent company) attempting to please the stupid masses by being able to say "we're doing something to save teh childrens!" and thus make the stupid masses shut the hell up about how evil their website is and how its only function is to exploit children.

However, on a different subject; various states have lost sight of the fact that "urinating in public" can get you on the national sex offender registry and linking "sex offender registry" with "convicted child rapist" in the rest of their laws.
In some places its so bad that people who did nothing more than streak at a party by the lake are being thrown out of their homes because those homes are too near a school and sex offenders are not allowed to live within a certain radius of the school.

Now I have no love for pedophiles, especially the ones who have actually acted on their impulses. However I'm getting tired of the baby being thrown out with the bathwater and really wish that people would start trying to fix the problem rather than throw around words and useless laws and actions that DO NOTHING to lower the numbers of victims for the crimes they're so concerned with.

If you're 14 and you lie about your age and some 20yo hits on you then you need to STFU - you lied. Had you put your age down and you were "restricted" to kids your age then things would be different.

So, just so I understand... I didn't see anything in Myspace's TOS that said 'If you're a sex offender, you can't be here.' I use my myspace account to keep in touch with my sister, my mom, and my cousins. Since I didn't get 'caught' in this 'purge', should I be deleting my account, or am I just not 'sex offender-y' enough?

The only thing they can do is match names and ages with the databases, which means a lot of people are going to get kicked off for having the same name (TSA list anyone??)
