FTA "He gets to the buffet, picks up his food and cutlery and as he walks back, in a Tiswas moment, he literally lobs his cutlery in the middle of their table for a laugh - because the relationship had evolved.

I dunno man, we're friends, but we're not like "Throw a fork at me in a restaurant" friends.

/can't believe there is a reference to 'Tiswas' in this article

Tiswas? What the hell does that mean?

Tarrant used to host a fantastic children's show called TISWAS, which was widely believed to be an acronym for 'Today Is Saturday, Watch And Smile' (or possibly 'Wear a Smile').

Now, of course, he can look forward to hosting TIUFIADWAS.

well at least he didn't try to kill anyone with corn-on-the-cobb. then the charges would have been a salt and buttery attempted murder.

chaddsfarkprefect - Mystic Meg is known over here for being the world's worst astrologer, who made her name on the TV for her ludicrous ball-park predictions ("Somebody who has recently bought a lottery ticket may be celebrating a windfall") in a voice that she hoped was mysterious, but actually came out like she had recently suffered a stroke.

reverend_alex: "Crap TV show he used to present (70s? 80s? Too young)"

Crap ???

Get out you're barred!.

TISWAS farkin ruled. It was (& still is to date) the most anarchic kids TV show ever. Pure mayhem, and funny as hell. Look at what the farkin BBC had to offer at the time, beardy twot Noel Edmonds & Keith Chegwin (shudder!) doing Saturday farkin swap shop. Snore!

tiswas fully ruled, 9 times out of 10 the adult cast were still drunk from the night before, they made kids eat condensed milk sandwiches which obviously did loads to calm their "i'm on tv" jitters, there was a masked villain(the phantom flan flinger) who used to pie the guests and they inveted dropping gooey slime on everbody!! wished I was 10 again, I loved that programme.

What the heck was the 'adult' version of Tiswas called?

That lasted only a few episodes, I believe.

2007-05-14 06:07:40 PM
was it OTT? (over the top)

2007-05-14 06:56:12 PM
Yes... you're right thanks.

Tiswas was fantastic, pure delightful anarchic fun on television. Not nearly enough of it has been released on video.
