I say we should give hurricanes names like De'Shawn, Laquisha, LaToya, Shabora, Shaw'nique, Shoneeza, and Tanisha.

/Thank you, Google.

"Walking on Sunshine" is the best song ever

Damn shame, too. I've always liked that name.

2007-05-11 02:17:14 PM
Katrina was a "fat girl" name in my region. Anyone else? ;-)

2007-05-11 02:17:16 PM
It should be unpopular. 'Katrina' is a stupid name. Not unlike 'Patrice', 'Sheniqua' or 'Fahrvergnugen'.

2007-05-11 02:17:32 PM
Hurricane Katrina was racist.

i wish somebody had told me that. i'm currently living in my friend's walk-in closet with nothing but a computer, a pile of records and a guitar because of a katrina.

what is it about that name that makes 'em crazy?

Interesting that the same study shows that Katrina is the most popular name for newborn baby girls in Syria and Iran

"This is not going to be a name like Adolf that's going to disappear and be unusable ever again," he said, referring to that name's association with Adolf Hitler

The fact that they had to explain this obvious point suggests that there in fact people who no longer know why 'Adolf' might be a bad name

And just when I'd decided on naming my kid "Katrina Camille F-5 Tornado That Flattened Greensburg Kansas Junior."

Guess it's back to "Soda."

being in new orleans for one weekend doesn't make you an expert on it's recovery time.

barring another catastrophe, 5 years tops.

Does anyone else think it's severely ghey that they "name" hurricanes at all? It's not like Katrina was the only storm to destroy stuff.

We can thank img293.imageshack.us for biatching about how there weren't enough hurricanes with "black" names. Wonder why they didn't pick Shaniqua.

Fark U: barring another catastrophe, 5 years tops.

If developers were allowed to go in and bulldoze large areas I would agree with you. (I am not advocating that by any means.) However, with the slow pace of funds, man-power, levee repair, it is going to take longer than say the recovery from Andrew.

It would have been a quicker recovery if the place was leveled. No one argues what to do over a pile of rubble. Besides I wasn't their for pleasure I was doing a site visit to one of our clients contracted to a lot of rebuilding around there, the 10-15 year estimate is theirs not mine. they tell me it would take 6 mos of red tape to build a straw hut.

Jacob is the most popular boy's name?

Hmm, I have never met a Jacob who wasn't a world class pansy or doucherocket.

Do a GIS for:

Katrina Witt

(Make sure the safe search feature is off and check out the images)

She could be my hurricane ANYTIME!!!

"they tell me it would take 6 mos of red tape to build a straw hut"

It would take a hell of a lot longer than that - the thing wouldn't pass any building/fire codes and you would have to bribe (make political donations to) just about everyone along the food chain to get a building permit for a "straw hut"

My niece is named Katrina. She was only 4 when the storm hit. She cried whenever the news came on because she didn't understand why they kept saying her name with bad things. She would say, "but I'm a good girl! " and cry. It was just heartbreaking.

I wonder how this will affect the benefit concert I had planned for New Orleans. In hindsight getting Katrina and the Waves might have been bad.

2007-05-11 03:17:12 PM
Funny, I would think the name "why the fark are you living below sea level you farking retards" would be the unpopular name.

My teen daughter has a friend who used to be called Katrina. Now she goes by Katie.
