Yeah, everyone was hoping for someone in Congress and/or the Bush Administration to be on the list. Doesn't matter who, just somebody. And when it turns out nobody from those places was on there, and only college professors and real estate agents.... okay, nobody cares, NEXT STORY, PLEASE.

2007-05-05 11:33:53 AM
Bullsh*t.

Lots of people are on that list. Including members of the media. That's why it's now being declared a "non-story".

The Bush Administration is a coven of gheys. More likely to be using male/little boy prostitutes than anyone else.

Too bad The Smoking Gun didn't get a copy of the list...

*sigh*

2007-05-05 11:44:13 AM
It went limp because ABC had moral, ethical, (and probably most importantly) legal issues with releasing the names. The madam should have given the list to a blogger, all the names would be out by now. Give something controversial to the mainstream media and they go all chickensh*t and don't release the information.

2007-05-05 11:44:31 AM
Maybe, just maybe we're coming out of the dark ages and prostitution isn't considered terrible enough by the general population to get good ratings any more?

I mean, didn't anyone else not really care that some old guys paid for sex?

Except for the former assistant secretary of state and the dude who wrote the book on the "shock and awe" warfare method, the rest of the "Johns" are just rich guys with no news value (or paid off ABC).

I find it funny though the assistant secretary of state busted was in charge of fighting international prostitution. They showed an earlier clip where he was promoting abstinance and being faithful as the method. He resigned after being named as on the list but claims he just got massages with no happy endings.

If you read the article, they list a few big names

But not in the case of the D.C. Madam. Most prominent of her customers was Deputy Secretary of State Randall Tobias, who was in charge of the Bush administration's efforts to crack down on prostitution worldwide.

/Bush admin official?

Word on the street is that Jack Abramoff was involved in hooking up GOP officials with the DC Madam...so of course there are Republifreaks involved.

The streetword also tells us that neocon grand wizard Grover Nordquist is on the list.

2007-05-05 11:47:02 AM
sounds like the powers that be have killed the story. Giving it to ABC/Disney or any corporate media outlet was a mistake.

2007-05-05 11:48:52 AM
She should have sent a copy to The Smoking Gun and one to Drudge. The Main SWtream Media is an agenda driven whore, that would never kill the golden goose. The rich adn powerful can easily intimidate ABC. The intertubes don't care--this is where true democracy lives.

2007-05-05 11:48:54 AM
I don't see what's stopping people from releasing the list. Lists of Johns are released all the time by the police. I don't see why we should respect the privacy of rich Johns anymore than poor Johns.

This woman has balls most of ya'll can only dream of.

In my view, prostitution is no different than dating, only at least in prostitution there is no pretense of marriage at the end of the deal. Personally, I'd rather get sex and money than flowers and jewelry any day.

This woman is logical, reasonable, and savvy. +1 for not being bullied around and talked down to.

This is out of control.

These weren't some 13 year old Ukranian girls being wisked away by mafia thugs. Goddam prof of sociology kills herself due to a bullshiate law about knocking boots.

The only victim in this whole story had a phd and the only damage was created by the law and prosecution and exposure. Stop freakin' helping!

could someone sum up the story in one sentence or less. There is no way I can get thru four pages of ZZZzzzzzzz.......

Telos: I mean, didn't anyone else not really care that some old guys paid for sex?

Yes, but when they are hypocrites who run "family value" campaigns and million dollar government funded abstinence campaigns I do care.

I don't care if you use a hooker but if you pass laws about how everyone else has sex, or you preach that it is evil and do it, then you are a hypocrite.

This is what the guy caught from the Bush administration he was the head of their Abstinence program. It's the hypocrisies is what I care about and people should care about.

List of "Johns" released by the police are men arrested for picking up a prostitute. None of the men on this list were arrested and there is no proof they did anything wrong. If ABC released their names, and even vaguely implied they did something illegal, these very rich people would sue ABC into the ground. ABC has no proof these people did anything except call the escort agency's number, so they are just covering their asses and not releasing the list so they don't get sued.

ABC is doing nothing more than stating that their telephone numbers are on the list. That is a fact, not an allegation. ABC is not stupid to claim anything more than that. But now ABC is not even willing to divulge whose number is on the list. Do you know how to read simple news???

BTW this is what is posted here: feel the outrage and further proof what MSM has become now. Nothing more than cheerleaders for their respective political masters.

Some examples of what people feel:
---------------------------------
ugh! Bad interview. Nothing to see here... move along...nothing to see here. Pretty much what I expected from ABC. Gimme A Break!
---------------------------------

Send ALL THE NAMES TO KEITH OLBERMANN, STEVE COLBERT, AND MULTIPLE OTHER STATIONS!!!!

OUT ALL THE BASTARDS!

They'll have some fun with it....
---------------------------

This has been conveninetly swept undder the rug....move along now, nothing else to see here...move along.
---------------------------------

Nail all the FILTHY LITTLE PEDERASTS ON EVERY NEWS STATION, FORGET ABC!
---------------------------------

The names are boring?

Let us decide which names are boring.
This is journalism?
---------------------------

brian ross described the list as boring???
"The phone numbers also track back to Georgetown mansions and prominent CEOs, officials at the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund and lobbyists both Republican and Democratic," ABC's Brian Ross reported.

yeah gee what a bunch of nobody's. and yet on the local channel and papers they post pictures of local johns caught in sting operations.

this system is so full of shiat. they're protecting big brothers inner circle.
-------------------------
sure they aren't newsworthy. abc is just too cowardly to release the names which is why she should have went completely public with the names and cut out the "free media" middleman.
-------------------------
sounds like ABC did a bait-and-switch on viewers...
-----------------------------------
some mighty pressure was put on the
station,where is journalism
-------------------------

What prominent thinktank will Brian Ross be invited to for this whitewash? The man has lost all credibility. I would advise as many people to contact him and let him know we don't trust him and his credibility is now nonexistent. Cops don't let the usual John off with a warning, but the Washington elite get a free pass and Brian Ross is a big part of the reason. I am glad I did not see the show. The MSM, underserving and undermining the US public since it began.

Since I was helping the wife with her mailings for her business last night and nothing else was on, I watched the whole 20/20 episode last night while putting address lables and stamps on envelopes.

rest of the "Johns" are just rich guys with no news value (or paid off ABC).

I'm betting the "paid off ABC" is reality and/or one of the higher ups in ABC is on the list.

The "news" show was full of straw man and one sided arguments.

The ethanol thing was left "open." The "experts" they had on were horrible. It was very tilted towards a one person interview where he was against ethanol made from corn. They didn't even mention ethanol made from sugar and how brazil is working wonders it. It was just "corn is bad. we use alot of energy making ethanol out of corn."

IMHO, the journalistic integrity of the episode was in the toilet.

I happened upon the broadcast and thought "Oh ya, this is the DC madame thing they have been hyping!" Just in time to hear to hear Flinty McChinjaw say "Basically... there is no story here!" I almost expected him to start with the "fished in!!!" motions from Wayne's World.

The rational legal side of me says: Note, hiring an escort service is NOT against the law. The women that she had working for her in the escort service had to sign contracts that stated that they would do nothing against the law, IE sex for money. No men were arrested for soliciting a prostitute. Me thinks that will probably be thrown out of court.

The rational logical side of me says: some if not most of the women doing the escorting were probably having sex during their "dates" with these men. Did the Madam know, DUH!. Did she care, no, as long as her girls were fine with it, she woudln't (because if the girls weren't find with it, they would go to the authorities and bust her.)

Just my 2 cents.

There is a Modern Marvels on green energy that is very good. It's not a interview or a debate but they run down the pros and cons of most of them and how they work, It is very informative.

They talk about how sugar cane ethanol is much more efficient than corn ethanol.

It's a very good episode and amazingly covers the main points in a short time.

See, this is my problem. How many viewers will tune on 20/20, get half-ass journalism and how many viewers will turn to modern marvels and see something decent and informative?

Or corporate news overlords have the prolitariat information centers by the short and curlies.
