What the wack jobs don't realize is that the freeway structure was built to maintain much higher load then the floor of the world trade ceter was. Lets see, semi truck = at least 4 tons (without a trailer) compared to fat office assistants sitting in a cube taking up roughly the same square footage and then add on safety factors (which are very high in California) and the type of seismic design requirements needed that boost the strength of a structure even further. That is why the lower deck did not collapse when the road fell. The world trade center probably used a lighter weight concrete to save weight that "vaporized" as they claim because it was mostly mixed with sand and ash instead of coarse aggregate. These people are so stupid and don't know anything about structural design. And then they cite people who have no idea either. Why would someone in "cold fusion" know anything about building design.

Well, not that everything can be controlled, but there's always cause and effect, which never fails. When people believe they have a theory/belief system/tin foil hat, they don't have to think as much and have things explained. They would rather leave that to others (thank god for apathy, eh?). So it's not so much that it's about control, just focusing the cause and effect elsewhere/on something they're not responsible for.

Clarifying a point --I hope-- correctly --I hope-- I beleive the issue is that Fat Rosie is possibly right that the temperatures hit in the WTC were not hot enough to melt steel, however, as someone else alludes to up north there, steel loses a HUGE percentage of its strength at about half the melting point.

I used to work as an AD for a producer named Bob Kiviat. He was the guy that did all the UFO specials (alien autopsy anyone?) and conspiracy shows for Fox etc. Part of my job was interviewing prospective guests and going over their "evidence." I had a room full of video tapes and documents and had to deal with these total batshiat crazy retards on a daily basis, so I can see them coming from a mile away.

This guy is DEFINATELY one of them. They work in packs too, they find each other and give each other accreditation so as to make their "theories" more believable.

I'm ashamed to say that I actually interviewed the guy that took pictures and video of bigfoot in Florida and he threatened to sue me because I didn't send back his vhs tape (it was our policy to keep all media we received via mail) and later put on his website that I was actually a CIA agent that was working against him to cover up the truth (whatever that was).

This has nothing to do with 9/11 I know...but I'm hoping some of the black helicopter chasers from that site will read this thread and see how stupid they look to the rest of us that are grounded in reality.

What a lot of the "Truthers" forget about is the "kiln effect" that occurred in the WTC. The heat was intensified by the insulating properties of the concrete surrounding the supports. This effect would not have occurred on the freeway because of the open air conditions. What melted was the exposed rivets and bolts. The concrete insulation prevented the rebar from melting but not the fasteners holding shiat together. The fire also didn't burn for nearly as long as the WTC.

Once an insulator heats beyond it's capabilities structural failure is inevitable. Something that isn't insulated will fail MUCH sooner...like the bolts and rivets on the overpass.

If the government wanted to pull off killing thousands of citizens in a secret operation, I am sure that the 9/11 truthers would be eliminated as they would be considered a threat to the operation. How much more effort would it take to put a few bullets in the heads of "informants", if you are going to pull off a mass genocide to begin with?

If the government really wanted more credibility in going to war in Iraq, they could have just planted WMD's there instead of pulling off an elaborate plot to blow up a couple of skyscrapers. Linking 9/11 to Iraq is one of the most dumbass arguments I have ever heard. If I were an evil genius, I would try to find the easiest route to accomplish my agenda.

This is the lamest argument I've encountered so far. Completely missing here is the importance of war for certain segments of the American economy. 9-11 has firmly established the Global War on Terror as the new paradigm for policy makers and military/industrialists, replacing the Cold War (which had been a cash cow for the MIC). Better still, this War on Terror will never end, since our policies will continue more terrorists and more threats.

One need not even implicate Bush, Cheney, the FBI or the CIA in order to confidently assert that US foreign policy in the last few decades has helped create our enemies, which we apparently always need in order to define ourselves as the perpetual "good guys". Sanctions against Iraq, a blind eye toward Israeli settlements and human rights violations, support for Middle Eastern fatcat dictators, etc. have all done their job.

All Bush had to do was go on vacation.

So in other words, 9-11 was a godsend to the Military Industrial Complex, and has implications far beyond justifying invading Iraq. It's the goose that will lay golden eggs as long as Americans are frightened enough, and when they stop being frightened, you can count on another "incident" to remind them of the threat they will always face.
