Wow, so consenting adults doing stuff that is legal in your own home, but in a different private venue - it's not even prostitution, since the only cash involved is for the venue.

Wow, yes, this is totally a job for the supreme court.

Surely he'll just claim executive privilege.

On a different note, swingin' sex parties are probably involving people we don't want to think about having sex in the first place, let alone an orgy, and especially at an old-timey bed and breakfast.

I like that word "ruckus".

Hopefully they'll be able to post the directions in said advertisments.

Yeager said the city isn't trying to police morality and they aren't trying to put anyone out of business.

But he said if Susko wants to run an alternative-lifestyle haven in the Northern Panhandle, she needs to ask the zoning board and let it decide, Yeager said. The board has already denied her appeal.

The Cognitive Dissonance of politicians is astounding to me.

Biatch has a hotel, she rents people's rooms. Whatever these people do in said rooms is not her concern, and it's *certainly* not the concern of the City. Why is this even an issue?

A mansion that's a great place to hold sex parties ??

In my day we just called them Sorority Houses.

It just so happens I've been to Wierton, two of my sisters when to a scary Catholic College called Stubenville which is just over the Ohio border from it.

Let me just say, the town STINKS, reeks in fact. Everytime they fire up those steel mills the entire town is coated in a choking fog that smells like a combination of burnt breakfast suages and iron filings. ANY gimmick or ploy that can be used to get people to come to Wierton, short of Carjacking or kidnapping should be greatfully supported by city officials.

It's most likely much more boring than it sounds. We have an S&M club here in Seattle, the running joke is that "S&M" stands for "stand and model". That's about all anybody does in that place.

I always wondered who owns the mansions in which porn movies are shot. Does someone that owns a house like that really need the rental cash? Are there really nice houses out there that no one lives in, that are just rented as production space?

tons of the second homes/vacation homes in Miami and elsewhere are used for exactly that. There are, in fact, agencies that specialize in securing locations for porn shoots.

Jesus why is this even an issue? People have FAR too much spare time on their hands. I hate the moral majority a little more every day.

I live like a block from there and we were going to host our wedding there until the city revoked her business license. High drama in Weirton!

The Homer Tax: Biatch has a hotel, she rents people's rooms. Whatever these people do in said rooms is not her concern, and it's *certainly* not the concern of the City. Why is this even an issue?

1. Because if she is operating a "sexually-oriented business," she needs a special license (which she does not have) to do so.

2. Advertising that you're holding "sex parties" (not quite what TFA described, but close enough) is some evidence that you're operating a sexually-oriented business, particularly where there is no other evidence that you have done so.

Now, you can argue with the underlying logic of Point 1, but for better or worse, that's the law where she lives (and probably where you live, too). The Supreme Court is being asked to weigh in on the somewhat more interesting logic of Point 2.

The problem here, OTHER than the fact that the SCOTUS is even dealing with this issue...

To be brutally honest, there aren't many Geri Ryan's going to these parties. They are mostly attended by people like your parents.

It's a brain bleach marathon.

2007-04-30 06:11:15 PM
While we're at it, let's ask the Supreme Court if we can use their mansion for our sex parties.

They must have one, right?

2007-04-30 06:21:49 PM
Does the mansion have a phone?

/surprised nobody has asked yet...

2007-04-30 06:40:55 PM
If there's any other reason to own a mansion? Take away the sex parties and all that's left is a house that takes a lot of walking to get anywhere.

democritus: The average million dollar homeowner has fewer than three children last time I looked at census data.(2000, natch.)

'round these parts, most million dollar homes have 4 bedrooms or less. Mansions cost a lot more than a million bucks.

My parents' shiatty little ~2000 square foot, 60 year old, 3 bedroom Eichler, 100 feet from an 8 lane highway has been assessed at $750k. A new, 2500 sq foot, 3 bedroom house in their zip code would probably run you $1 million, easy.

Hell, my fiance's dad just sold a couple little 3 bedroom houses, on a 1/4 acre each, in "wine country", for well over $1 mill each.

/bay area real estate is ridiculous

Advertising that you're holding "sex parties" (not quite what TFA described, but close enough) is some evidence that you're operating a sexually-oriented business, particularly where there is no other evidence that you have done so.

They're not holding the parties. They're just advertising that they "welcome" people of alternative lifestyles, and that they have space "available for" sexually-oriented gatherings. Site in question

There's a difference between "holding" and "making space available for".

Is every hotel with a "honeymoon suite" a "sexually-oriented" business?
