The idea of "bullet control" rather than "gun control" is manifestly hostile to the intent of the second amendment of our Bill of Rights. It's taking enough of a beating lately without voluntarily capitulating more.

Yeah, but in America if you get pissed off about losing the argument you can go buy a gun and shoot the people you were arguing with.

Thank God for that!

Better not get in anymore gun-thread arguments.

Sure, you could stab them or club them to death also but with a gun you could kill everybody in the room just for kicks!

What a country!!!

Hooray for guns!

wayward2: Cho should not have been able to buy a gun legally in the US because of his mental illness.

However, the hospital was under no obligation to report it. So they didn't. So he had a clean background check.

Let's try enforcing the laws we have before coming up with new ones.

We need more laws controlling crazy people than we need to control fire arms. He came up on the crazy radar at least three times.

Tatsuma: If you're going to quote something, quote it in context, make, ok?

Sure. I couldn't find any reference to 1,500,000 but there was this:

The key explanation for the difference between the
108,000 NCVS estimate for the annual number of DGUs
and the several million from the surveys discussed
earlier is that NCVS avoids the false-positive
problem by limiting DGU questions to persons who
first reported that they were crime victims.

Also see point 14.

He also mentioned the Columbine killings, referring to Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris as "martyrs." Imitation undoubtedly plays a role in mass shootings as well, said Daniel A. Cohen, a historian at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

Ban the media from reporting mass killings and they should stop!

When it starts happening there like it does here get back to me.

Americans are far too insecure/immature/pussified to properly handle them it seems.

So afraid of taking a right cross to the jaw that they/we shoot each other over parking spaces.

If gunowners only killed each other I'd sit back and giggle, unfortunately that's not the case.

Why is it that states like the Dakotas with the highest number of guns per citizen have the lowest amount of gun crimes per citizen?

This would be because of a certain demographic. This demographic also explains why the UK and US have quite similar murder rates once you make adjustments for given segments of society.

The vast majority of gun murders in the US is simply thugs and gangs killing each other. I say you should give them better arms and then seal the hoods and barrios.

I hope this cartoon Photoshop filter makes my guns look less evil. They haven't gone on any rampages since I keep their safeties on. Unfortunately the white one is subjugating the black ones, but there's nothing I can do about that since they act completely on their own.

The price to pay in order to live in a society built around the concept of rights and freedom is to accept that sometimes individuals are going to abuse their rights and freedom in order to hurt others.

I, for one, am ready to live with that risk.

"You're an idiot. Most murderers don't go out of their way to pick a random target. Stop dealing with horrible people, move out of the shiathole, and stay off my farking lawn."

Crimes don't just happen in bad neighborhoods, and most "murderers" don't leave the house that day thinking they are going to go out and kill someone. It often happens during the commission of some other crime. If you think only scumballs in bad neighborhoods are victims of crime, I hope your little dream world is never shattered as mine was. I really do...

Maybe no mass shootings, but EVERYTHING else crime related has skyrocketed. So you pick:

- Ban guns. No mass shootings, but murder rates double/triple.
- Don't ban guns. Still mass shootings possible, but the law abiding have the ability to defend themselves from the folks who illegal carry weapons.
- Don't ban guns ANYWHERE and let me use what my CCW will provide me to the fullest.

AT WHAT POINT DO YOU GUN CONTROL IDIOTS NOT UNDERSTAND THAT VTECH IS A GUN FREE ZONE AND IT STILL DID NOT WORK? DO WE HAVE TO SIT DOWN WITH A PICTURE BOOK SO YOU METAL DEGENERATIVES UNDERSTAND THAT THE LAWS DON'T APPLY TO THOSE WHO DON'T WANT THEM APPLIED? FRIGGIN' IDIOTS.

Odd. If I was going to off myself, there's no way I would use a gun. People don't realize what a disgusting mess it makes. I'll let Hollywood take credit for that.

I certainly hope that you or your loved ones are never hurt or killed by someone using the same tools of mass-murder that you are so ardently defending here.

I'd like to know the percentage of gun crimes which were carried out by registered gun owners. I'd also like to find out the number of times these same registered owners either prevented a crime from happening, or stopped it in progress.

All most gun control does is systematically disarm those who are willing to obey the law.

Oh_Enough_Already: You mock the dead by attempting to mitigate or deny the role than guns played in their deaths.

No I didn't.

I'm putting things in perspective. It was a tragedy, yet

Tatsuma: In 2004, drunk drivers were responsible for the death of 16,700 people. That's 46 people a day. Since the tragedy of Virginia tech, 329 people died because of drunk drivers. This is 10 times the number of people who died because of Cho Seung-Hui

I don't see any of you hypocrites trying to kickstart the prohibition once again. Oh, wait, what? "Just because you drink alcohol doesn't mean you're going to be an irresponsible dick, take the wheels while you're drunk and kill someone"?

Oh_Enough_Already: If you're arguments help to keep guns readily and freely available to all that's a likliehood you're statistically helping to foment.
