And you'll believe that when you see the movie!

You've been warned....now keep that $8.50 in your wallet and RUN, do not walk, away from the theater.

2001-07-10 12:23:05 PM
Plus, this one wasn't even based on book.

2001-07-10 12:23:10 PM
As soon as Steven Speilberg said he wasnt going to do the movie that should have been a clue that it had no hope, now this confirms it.

2001-07-10 12:25:46 PM
this one could have used an tag.

After watching JP2, I assumed that one was shot without a script. Apparently, my mistake

I don't knwo what's worse, this or the fact that some movies HAD a script (fast and the furious comes to mind).

Some ideas aren't worth writing down.

If I'm going to pay to see a sequil it's going to be American Pie 2.

I just hope Speilberg didn't put any more kids in JPIII. He's had the opportunity and technology to do a truly terrifying movie about humans being subjected to, and existing in the same space and time as dinosaurs, but has failed miserably at it so far. It's just been "cutesy".

JPII was a blatant rip off by Micheal Criton, of King Kong, but that's what Criton does, anyway. Andromeda Strain was a rip of War of the Worlds, The Terminal Man was a rip of Frankenstein. JPII was just plain sorry. Hell, come to think of it, JPIII might be better with no script to follow.

Speilberg didn't put any more kids in JPIII, cuz he didn't do it!

Call me crazy, but I see this movie sucking terribly

2001-07-10 01:04:07 PM
Hehehe... a movie that was done much like the company I work for runs day to day stuff. Oh, sure, we have a mission statement and are even 9001 certified but, nobody knows dick around here.

There's a new seriff in town and his name is Reggie Hammond. Right-on, be cool.

2001-07-10 01:32:23 PM
It sez the original script is by (someone) & Alexander Payne & Jim Taylor, who wrote Election and Citizen Ruth. That's interesting and encouraging. Too bad they gave that script the boot.

2001-07-10 01:33:28 PM
Oh dear god. Like I needed more reasons not to go see this piece of rubbish? Even the previews for JP3 were looking like crap.

And Spielberg thinking about a JP4? ARGH!!!! Make it stop!

2001-07-10 01:37:49 PM
I call BULLshiat. Movies that are special effect laden like this have to be carefully storyboarded and thought out. you don't just shoot whatever and push an "add dinosaurs" button.

2001-07-10 01:48:09 PM
Speilberg didnt do JP3 so he could do A.I.

I hope he really doesnt do JP$, itd have to be called

"Jurrasic Park 4, Beating a dead horse with a Dinosuar"

2001-07-10 01:49:11 PM
oops, i meant 'JP4' of course, sorry

2001-07-10 01:55:09 PM
It was probably shot without a plot, too.

2001-07-10 01:55:10 PM
I liked the first Jurrasic Park. I was hopping that the Tyrannosauras Rex would eat those two annoying kids. They were just to annoying for me.

2001-07-10 02:05:35 PM
Steven Porn? No, that's Juranal Park

2001-07-10 02:22:55 PM
Or Jurassic Pork. Or Jur'ass'ic Park

ReggieHammond : oh, you work here too?

Finiamh: LOL :)

Radical Chaz: Yeah, It's too bad that that's the approach so many movie houses make these days.

To-Do List:
Big-Name, overpaid actors : Check
High-priced, on-site location : Check
Advertising campaign(2 YEARS prior to release) : Check
Script: Check (Used script #4, added dog, modified location)
Plot: To be added in post-production.

2001-07-10 02:52:38 PM
Actually, JP$ seems more appropriate. This movie's central theme was a profit-projection graph.

But I wouldn't call Sam Neill a big name actor, not when he's getting second billing to a $50 million special effect.

"WITH Sam Neill as Dr. Grant AND VRAP356.OXF as himself!"

How do you figure "Andromeda Strain" was a rip-off of "War of the Worlds"? They had nothing in common. WOTW was a horribly done sci-fi film about aliens invading. AS was a well-done sci-fi film (and book) about the US Government finding a cure for an alien virus that keeps mutating form and symptoms.

What....is it the word "alien" that makes AS a rip-off?

The Andromeda Strain, Micheal Criton, copyright 1969. The story line has an alien (re: not of earth) invader, in the form of a contagion this time, come to earth and begin to eradicate terran life, and will essentially "take over the earth" unless stopped. This is the same storyline that H.G. Wells used to base "The War of The Worlds" (1898) on, which was actually written as a metaphor to the expansion of the British Empire into the uncivilized countries at the time. Criton freely admitted "The Andromeda Strain" was a re-write of "The War of The Worlds".

As far as the 1953 movie, "The War of The Worlds", starring Gene Barry, it was one of the few, if not the first, science fiction movie filmed in color. It employed the top special effects of its day. At the time, the movie itself was seen as a metaphore of the cold war, with the threat of Russia invading the U.S. (however, the original printed story was set in England). Even today, TWOTW stands on its own against any science fiction movie of the 1950's, save "Forbidden Planet".

Criton freely admitted he used the story of Frankenstein to write "The Terminal Man".

JP II follows King Kong so closely, there is even the scene where humans are hanging on to a vine (rope in JP) over a chasm, with the monster above, about to cause their demise. Then, said monster is transported by boat, to a major U.S. city, to break free and reak havok on said inhabitants.

Watch the obscure film "Galaxy of Terror", 1981, starring Ray "My Favorite Martian" Walston, then watch Criton's "Sphere", 1998.

Too bad it will still make a crap load of money

2001-07-10 06:08:01 PM
Ehh. No script, no big deal. Most movies that have a script suck too.

2001-07-10 06:23:00 PM
Just curious. Anyone in here ever see Gummo??? If so, didja like it???

2001-07-10 06:26:55 PM
Jurassic Park 3 #1 on my top ten list of movies to never see.

Gummo, jeebus. That was like a twisted documentary. I don't know how much you could "like" that movie. It's not enjoyable or entertaining in any stretch of the words. But it's sure as hell something to watch.

2001-07-10 07:49:56 PM
It still seems like a stretch to compare Andromeda Strain to War of the worlds. Also I think Crichton mainly wrote Jurassic 2 as a sequel to Jurassic Park 1 not as a sequel to his book. It was written specificly to be a movie.
Personally I thought the first movie was terrible. After you get past the special effects "oooh, look at the neat dinosaurs" there's a weak or no plot. The book was so much better. I agree with the earlier poster. I was hoping the kids would get eaten too. Especially that annoying girl. "I'm not a nerd, I'm a Hacker" yeah, whatever.

2001-07-10 08:14:18 PM
If only they didn't have cameras either.

2001-07-10 08:41:08 PM
I'm not buyin' it either.
I don't believe for one second that the dinosaurs ad-libbed through the whole thing.
Tea, Sam, and William, yeah I see that. The Dinosaurs? I don't think so.

It's all dumb and gay anyway.

Andromeda Strain: The only parallel I see is the simple defence.

I wanna see a Viet Nam movie shot through the view point of the Viet Namese.

2001-07-10 09:03:02 PM
wouldn't that be a fun movie? 20 years of footage of bombs falling out of the sky and blowing your shiat up.

2001-07-10 09:38:14 PM
Hey MisterSym I haven't seen or read Andromeda Strain and don't care to, but please watch the comments about War of the Worlds, that's a classic SciFi novel by one of the founding fathers of the genre and it's also a pretty damn good movie.

BTW the title for the second JP, "The Lost World" was also the title of a Sir Arthur Conan Doyle novel. Which was about...dinosaurs.

2001-07-10 10:00:51 PM
Macfrugal: When you say "your shiat" which group of people involved are you referring to?

Geez read a book.

I like my life. I don't go to movies to escape. I go to movies to be challenged.

Stick with Disney.

2001-07-10 10:26:03 PM
Is Adriana Richards in it again? She was/is hot!

2001-07-11 04:45:07 AM
I think she has a cameo in it.

wow
2001-07-11 10:39:09 AM
I think in terms of trilogies, the first one is always the best...the second one royally sucks and the third one rivels the first one (but doesnt beat it) just because they have to make up for what a sucky job they did on the second movie. So if true, then this movie will be a lot better than JP2, which i fell asleep during 4 times, and i cant wait to see it :-D

2001-07-11 12:24:05 PM
i hope you are joking around wow.... or else you havent seen the previews yet. raptors that can 'talk' to each other and are smart?? give me a break. and that fact that there was no script is just setting it up for a very very shiatty movie.

/me smells a load of crap coming
