(CNN)   Peter King thinks the Dolphins should draft Brady Quinn. Wait for it... wait for it... because "I'd love to see the kind of player he could become with a fine quarterback coach"   (sportsillustrated.cnn.com) divider line 16

And I think the dolphins should rise up and slaughter all mankind. Sorry, I just watched the video one post above this.

I heard an interesting stat by a Quinn backer on either Rome or Dan Patrick the other day. He said college QBs with lots of starts in college tended to be better pro QBs, while college QBs with fewer college starts had shiatty pro careers. The examples were like this:

Akili Smith = 19 starts
Peyton Manning = 36 starts
Joey harrington = 17 starts
Matt Leinart = 30 starts
Ryan Leaf = 18 starts
Donovan Mcnabb = 33 starts
Kyle Orton = 16 starts

etc. Turns out Brady had something like 33 starts while JaMarcus Russell had 19 or so. Dunno.

redking194 BRING ON THE ND BASHING!

It's more that King seemingly forgets that Quinn has spent several years under possibly the pre-eminent quarterbacks coach of the time. Kind of a big goof for a "professional" NFL writer.

In other words, the better QBs were also better in college? Correlation or causation? You decide.

It's interesting, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for the Timmy Chang era.

So the better the quarterback was in college the better he is in the pros. Fascinating.

Operative word there. Good example against this, Ken Dorsey. But I hope that if Miami does draft Quinn, that this stat holds true.

The hell with Quinn. The Dolphins need to take Byron Westbrook, CB from Salisbury St.

For you see, taking Westbrook leaves one more quality player for everybody else to draft. And I don't care whether the Dolphins live or die.

How come nobody is on this boat? I mean you can't underestimate Brady Quinn's courage and his courageous heart. That's gotta be worth something that no other prospect has.

I say keep Culpepper. ACL tear is an 18 month repair. Wait another year.

No. I think the Dolphins should take Quinn and make him their starter. Then I think they should bring back Ricky Williams and make him their starter. Then I think they should trade Thomas and Taylor for a new kicker and wide receiver. Yeah. That's it. Awesome.

The guy probably stole that idea from this guy at football outsiders (a great site) who wrote about it last year in regards to the top 3 QB prospects. It's actually starts + completion percentage for QBs drafted in the top 2 rounds (hence eliminating most system qbs like Tommy Chang)

Here's his article about this years class:

OMG That article says every single thing I've been trying to say about Russell since his hype started, down to the end of the Auburn game exemplifying what he is.

I already liked them, but that gets them an extra couple dozen awesome points.

He did, but he did cite where he got it from (I also recall seeing that comment on TV during one of the talk shows before 3 pm PDT Sportscenter)
