2007-04-16 09:17:31 AM
And the Moose? What next... they'll be calling up kids from double-A to pitch?

*checks article*

Oh.....

2007-04-16 09:17:53 AM
Tru dat.

2007-04-16 09:19:03 AM
I wonder when the first "CALL UP PHILIP HUGHES NOW!!!!!!1!" call was placed to WFAN...

2007-04-16 09:25:56 AM
Your getting a +1 from me submitter. Funny stuff. Hah.

2007-04-16 09:43:13 AM
I think Mike and Mike mentioned a website that had a story "DL Signs BJ Ryan, Pavano to 5 year deals"

Isn't tendonitis one of those injuries that you can't really confirm with a MRI or other objective test, and you just have to kind of take the word of the person suffering from it that they have it?

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

jake_lex: I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

I believe it. This is the same guy that crashed his car while "visiting his girlfriend in Canada" and then failed to report it to the team.

And he bruised his ass.

This is all good news for the Red Sox, until you realize that the Yankees will now give a blank check to Clemens - they have to get him now.

2007-04-16 10:40:09 AM
priestrape: Clemens - they have to get him now.

Now...as in, today, if possible.

2007-04-16 11:06:16 AM
Well, hopefully not before this coming weekend, H31N0US...anytime after that will be fine.

2007-04-16 11:06:54 AM
Pavano strained his elbow whilst lifting his wallet.

2007-04-16 11:13:16 AM
Clemens?
Not sure if He'll make THAT big a difference.
AL > NL
I'm not as intimidated by the part-time Walmart greeter as some are. (of course I don't have to face him either).

As a Red Sox fan I'd laugh, but then J.D. Drew would hear me, turn to see what the noise was and sprain his back or something.

/It's only a matter of time :-(

2 years ago Pavano stole my buddys GF. He claims that he went to a Haitian in East Boston and paid to have a macumba curse put on Pavano. I believe this story to be true.

Take that, Pavano!

Great Headline Subby!!! Would read again!1! A++++

2007-04-16 11:49:08 AM
In his last start Pavano exceeded his pitch count . . . for the year.

I wonder when the first "CALL UP PHILIP HUGHES NOW!!!!!!1!" call was placed to WFAN...

Well, it's legit. They have three starters on the disabled list. Unless they're just planning on throwing in the towel for April and winning 25/28 in May.

And if they signed Clemens today he wouldn't be able to help them until after these guys' 15 days are up.

2007-04-16 12:08:50 PM
Can Clemens pitch before May 1? If Hughes gets called up before May 1, I would expect that he gets the extra service time in to go free agent in 2013 instead of 2014, and if he's as good as promised, you don't want that.

If everyone involved plays their cards right, the Yankees don't have problems with their rotation starting May 1.

2007-04-16 12:26:19 PM
Yes, yes, call up Hughes, overtax the young arm, wear out the prospect!

Yankees Team Gynecologist: Yes, yes, call up Hughes, overtax the young arm, wear out the prospect!

Dusty? Is that you?

::Applause and Reverie:: Good form!

if the yankees called hughes up now they would be fools.

The curse of the Moose lives on.

Go O's

2007-04-16 01:10:47 PM
They're calling up other prospects before Hughes, like the next game being a dude from Double-A.

/I did laugh at the headline

Meanwhile the Red Sox staff is leading the AL in ERA ...

2007-04-16 03:11:21 PM
Realistically, if the defense improves, it is plausible that they could absorb a few runs each game and still win with hitting.

The slop in the field has to stop. It looks like it will; Saturday night Jeter caught a deep high hopper, spun mid air and sent it to 1st before hitting the ground...unfortunately it was about a quarter second late.

2007-04-16 03:19:30 PM
+1 subby, you briefly made the pain go away...

Anybody have Aaron Small's home phone number?

2007-04-16 03:21:13 PM
Is Cashman keeping up with his daily delivery of chaw, Slim Jims, and cowgirl hookers to Clemens' Texas address? We've gotta stay on top of that.

2007-04-16 03:45:27 PM
Pavano is being listed as day-to-day. Then again, aren't we all?

/Olbermann

Frank Costello: How's your mother?
Man in Bar: She's on her way out.
Frank Costello: We all are, act accordingly.

Yanks called up a guy named Chase Wright, has two awesome starts at AA. Wang should be back soon, but Mussina's just old. Igawa has control issues, but we knew that. During the spring, some fans I know were talking about trading Pavano before he got hurt again, and I thought they were crazy.

The good news is that I think the pen is really going to be good (and young) this year, which hides a lot of issues with the starters. When the kids start coming up next year ("Mr. Hughes, please pick up the white courtesy phone.") they'll be all set, but this year might just be written off to rebuilding.

Um, no, Olbermann stole that line from Steve Sommers fifteen years ago. I'm only 21 and even I know that.

lol

Every single day, I wish it was Pavano who died in that plane crash and not Cory Lidle...
