HERO? More like DUMBASS... but hey, I don't choose the tags.

2002-08-16 05:25:34 PM
well, i didnt care about the baseball strike one way or the other, but if Bush has a problem with it, im all for it.

2002-08-16 05:26:12 PM
One single, solitary post, and it says what I was going to say.

To summarise: over-paid lazy athletes bad, Bush needs elocution lessons.

That is all. Carry on.

2002-08-16 05:26:20 PM
Pissed off baseball fans don't vote Republican.

2002-08-16 05:26:21 PM
Fannage? Like, one of the fans?

2002-08-16 05:26:34 PM
damn, i agree with the shrub for once.

2002-08-16 05:26:53 PM
If they strike, declare the baseball union as part of the "axis of evil" Mr president.

2002-08-16 05:27:04 PM
See quotation marks are supposed to be used when you're quoting someone. Dumbass tag should be used for whoever submitted this.

2002-08-16 05:27:12 PM
Fannage. Like "fanny", which is also "ass", which is the type of hat Bush wears.

2002-08-16 05:27:46 PM
fannage?????

like the aussie term for fannage? ....fanny..etc?

2002-08-16 05:28:20 PM
This would be funny if he had actually said ANY of those words.
Unfortunately he didn't...
Oh well nice try.

2002-08-16 05:28:24 PM
Because God forbid there not be baseball.

Priorities people. These farkers get paid a minimum... MINIMUM... of 200 thousand dollars to play a game. And they're whining because they don't want to have to pay a luxury tax if they're making millions of dollars a year.

Cry me a farking river.

Let them strike. Let them get jobs at McDonald's and The Gap and see how awful it is that they're ONLY making a few million a year.

farking greedy bastards. Nobody needs them.

2002-08-16 05:29:17 PM
You retards realize he didn't actually say that in the article, right?

2002-08-16 05:29:18 PM
"He gave no indication he would take a role in the bitter dispute between owners and players..." He doesn't have to. Everyone knows he's on the owners' side, being an ex-owner himself. How totally disingenuous.

this is farking bullshiat. these baseball players, who make money for playing a game, must be farkin idiots. they make money (lots of it) for playing what they love to play! now they are STRIKING! that should be farkin illegal or something, they're lucky most of america enjoys it.

2002-08-16 05:30:18 PM
Fannage?

tubular!

2002-08-16 05:30:24 PM
ChineseWalkingDeathFish : I totally agree. Hell, that's what I said! Who the fark lets this stuff through???

2002-08-16 05:30:48 PM
We have a Rain Man as President!

"Baseball is good. No accord is bad. Very bad."

2002-08-16 05:31:07 PM
Right on, Aeonite... right on.

2002-08-16 05:31:41 PM
Best Presidential understatement of the year: "It is bad for them not to reach an accord." Yeah, no shiat! Isn't that the point of the media coverage of the potential strike? It's not like anyone wants a strike...except maybe the WNBA.

2002-08-16 05:31:58 PM
Yeah, but he wanted to be commissioner for a long time, Elayne Riggs , and Selig said he wouldn't stand in his way - and then promptly made himself commissioner. Those two have a long history of not liking each other, so I don't think he's going to automatically side with Selig.

FutureChip:
fannage?????
like the aussie term for fannage? ....fanny..etc?

I don't know whether you, FC, are joking or not, but for everybody who's confused as to the nature of this word, might I suggest reading the article. Bush doesn't really use that word; it's a joke on the part of the guy/girl who linked the site.

By the way, I think it is a smart idea for Bush to stay away from the negotiating table and just speak from the sidelines. Clinton tried negotiating, and look what happened. Same thing that happened in the Middle East, come to think of it. *dons asbestos suit*

That is all.

2002-08-16 05:33:40 PM
Here's a little tidbit that most people don't know about.
I work for a Fox affiliate.
If the players strike, and there is no playoffs or world series, there is a clause in our contract that states that MLB has to pay Fox Television 41 million dollars. So the owners are pissin' in their drawers. They are out of money both ways, but which will be the lesser of two evils?

2002-08-16 05:33:41 PM
The 'Hero' tag can also be for the strike date. They set it right when college football season is about to start. Morons.

2002-08-16 05:33:45 PM
"You retards realize he didn't actually say that in the article, right?"

Is that somehow supposed to keep us from mocking him? I say nay nay!

2002-08-16 05:34:08 PM
Test to see if anybody actually reads the article before heading to the comment threads and trying to look witty: successful.

Kudos to whomever thought it up.

PS: f*ck baseball players. Hey bat jockies, guess what: once you contribute something valuable to society, then I'll give a damn when you cry about having 3 million in the bank instead of 5. Deal?

2002-08-16 05:34:51 PM
Because Bush is a former owner, he is in a unique position. The players' association distrusts him.

Why does this put Bush in a unique position? Nobody trusts him anyway.....

2002-08-16 05:35:17 PM
Bwahahaha! The one thing Bush has done right so far.

2002-08-16 05:36:34 PM
Actually, it's 200 large per year, not game. They'd be paid a minimum of 32.4 million per year if it were 200k/game.

Get it right.

2002-08-16 05:37:23 PM
Bush can do nothing - he was an owner and so he has no
credibility as an 'honest broker'. Just as he can do nothing
about corporate fraud. It would be like when slick Willy
made a stink about lax morality in Hollywood. Everyone just
laughed.

2002-08-16 05:37:49 PM
"... a lot of fans are going to be furious, and I'm one of them ..."

Jeez.

It's a shame he couldn't have been so furious about what's goin on over there on the West Bank. Nice priorities there, Dubs.

2002-08-16 05:38:08 PM
It's all part of my grand scheme to have soccer take over your television screens. YOU WILL SUBMIT! BWAHAHAHA!

2002-08-16 05:38:56 PM
I thought league minimum for a major league contract was up to $300,000.

Don't forget, if you are a member of the union, you get another $30,000 per year from license merchandise revenue. Unless Don Fehr still hates your guts for crossing the picket line in 1994, like the D-Backs Damian Miller (look closely at official W.S. Champs merchandise - his name ain't on it) and you get bubkus.

2002-08-16 05:40:57 PM
Dmd8605

I meant 200 large to "play the game of baseball", not "play a single game". They're paid 200 thousand dollars to fark around and play a game that people would play for free anyway. Meanwhile, people are slaving away for minimum wage so they can make enough money to buy a ticket to see their favorite player swing a piece of wood nine or ten times in a span of 3 hours.

Greedy farkers.

2002-08-16 05:41:02 PM
Christ... If my own father said something like that, I'd slap him across the head and force feed him his medication.

Well, if the majors are going on strike, we can always watch LITTLE LEAGUE!

Oh... Wait... Never mind.

2002-08-16 05:41:13 PM
What dittohead submitted this with a tag? Doesn't take much to be hero these days, does it? All you have to do is make some uninmporant, non-controversial observation that anyone with an IQ above a houseplant would agree with--"I'm opposed to a baseball strike." Well, I'm opposed, too, so where's my tag.

Jesus, I swear that anything Presidently Chimpy does anything more impressive than wiping his own ass without Cheney helping him someone is willing to call him a "hero." Look up the farking word in the dictionary, folks.

reminds me of when the president was asked to comment on that big hockey strike.

Oh, wait. There hasn't been a hockey strike. Because hockey players aren't WHINY PAMPERED PUSSIES.

2002-08-16 05:43:04 PM
I misquoted him to make him sound like an idiot AND gave it the hero tag.
Made for a nice balance, I thought.

Shows what I know. I guess.

2002-08-16 05:43:07 PM
fannage, thats mad 1337. Fannage will now join "ownage" and "rapage" in the 1337 lexicon

Fark baseball players

Fark baseball owners

Fark Farking policians that build billion dollar stadiums with taxmoney for farking players and owners.

Fark professional baseball.

The minor leagues ROCK!

2002-08-16 05:44:43 PM
Actually, I thought you did a good job with that, Rtreynor.

Happy Cyberluddite? Now everybody can read along.

2002-08-16 05:45:24 PM
My bad. I didn't give it a hero tag. I gave it a followup tag.
I forgot.
Admins changed it.
I *thought* about giving it a hero tag, though.

Not a hero, but it does help, no matter how FARKIN' RETARDED our president is, to endorse the continuation of baseball without a strike.

2002-08-16 05:50:05 PM
Fark everyone of them, from the owners to the umpires.

2002-08-16 05:50:15 PM
People, if you are going to quote someone, atleast get the quote right. Bush never said fannage. He said "I am one of them."

2002-08-16 05:53:52 PM
Could I be any more apathetic? No. No, I don't think so.

2002-08-16 05:54:18 PM

2002-08-16 05:58:51 PM
Rtreynor, "fannage" is funny, but I think it might have been better if you had gona a little more overboard to make him sound dumb. Maybe something like "workage stoppage."
