ElwoodCuse: "Want to protect marriage? Ban divorce."

AMEN, brother....been saying that myself for years. Outlaw divorce except in cases of abuse/rape/infidelity, and then the abuser/rapist/infidel (?) does a mandatory 30-year term so we know they haven't made a deal just to get rid of each other.

You should know that the EPA, where most of the second hand smoke lung cancer data is drawn from for laws like this, has NEVER done an actual study of their own as to the effects of SHS. They made a Meta Analysis, which is they sampled 33 smaller studies and pooled results from 11 of those to create the statistics they claim to this day. This Meta Analysis was thrown out by a Federal court due to the fact that they ignored proper scientific and statistical practices in making its risk assessment. They created a report tailored to fit a conclusion they had already reached. Any new statistics are still drawn from this report and modified based on possible increases in Cancer cases, not actual ones, despite the report being thrown out in 1998 (translation: they made the shiat up!) Many of the reports actually showed that you built a defense against carcinogens from SHS exposure but you will never see that from the EPA or any lawmaker.

"EPA publicly committed to a conclusion before research had begun; excluded industry by violating the Act's procedural requirements; adjusted established procedure and scientific norms to validate the Agency's public conclusion, and aggressively utilized the Act's authority to disseminate findings to establish a de facto regulatory scheme intended to restrict Plaintiffs' products and to influence public opinion," --U.S. District Court Judge Thomas Osteen

So what's wrong with putting kids in the trunk? Here's an excerpt from Rebel with a Cause by Franklin Graham (son of evangelist Billy Graham), pages 12-13:

"If you don't stop right now," Mama said, "I'm going to pull over and lock you up in the trunk." But I was one of those hardheaded kids who didn't respond to such simple threats. I started pinching them again.

"That's enough!" Mama pulled off to the side of the road and stopped the car. Before I knew what was happening, she opened the back door, grabbed me with both hands, jerked me around back, opened the trunk, put me inside, and slammed the lid shut. I wasn't expecting Mama to drive all the way to Asheville before letting me out, but she drove on and on.

When we arrived at the drive-in, Mama came around to the back of the car and opened the trunk to get my order. "What do you want to eat?"

"Cheeseburger without the meat, french fries, and a Coke." She slammed the trunk again and climbed back in the car and placed the order. The waitress was shocked when she saw Mama open the trunk and hand me my food.

How loyal and trustworthy is this scout when he knew the rules from the begining and decided to put on a false pretense that he believed in them? If anything, I think BSA kicked him out because he made them look like fools.

As for the whole science vs religion. It's like comparing apples and oranges.

REASON NUMBER ONE:

Science is the study and explantion of nature. From "Why is the sky blue?" to the most complex string theories.

Religion deals with the supernatural,ie; God, gods, goddesses, ghosts, miracles, etc. Supernatural means "above" or "outside of" nature. Therefore you can not use the rules of science to study something that is not natural. It would be like using a leafblower to make a cake. Try as hard as you like but it can't be done.

REASON NUMBER TWO:

Science works in that you must realize that everything you know has the possibility of being wrong. That is science has the ability to change along with endless stream of ever incoming data.

Example:

Scientific theory: The world is flat and we are the center of it all.

Revision: The world isn't flat and we are just another speck in the great cosmos.

Science adapts to this information until a newer idea revises the old theory.

However, religion only works in that you must believe that everything in your religious dogma is fact. You can not change. You might be able to change the rituals such as the Catholic church did with Vatican II (1962-65) but the underlining beliefs must remain as fact. (There is a God/god/goddesses/great cosmos. He/She/It/They created everything.)

And it is in these differences why science and religion will never be able to see eye to eye.

One of the best lines came on the NFL Network Post-game show from Deion who, in response to LT's line that "everyone knows I'm one of the classiest guys in the game," Deion said it simple: "LT, Don't tell people that you're classy. If you have class in life, you don't need to tell people."

And then, of course, Steve Mariucci defended every word that LT said. Like the idiot he is.

Let's see: he went through a lot of shiat in Iraq, and now, he is suffering from PTSD, and his wife is finding that he is not the man she married anymore.

I don't see this as a dumbass tag, but rather an unfortunate tag.

I'm not sure if it was sarcasm or what, but tobacco, liberal media lies, and homosexual marriages don't really seem to have much to do with this. Unless, he's leaving his wife for a man.

I agree with the marriage and marines, oil and water metaphor from personal experience.

A friend of mine recently had a final price with some shady alcoholic plaid-wearing old salesman, and then at the signing he added on $295 for processing. When my friend asked "what's that for?" the guy said "it's so the little ladies in the back can type this contract up" (2 whole pages!). My friend told him either he had the best secretaries in the world that required $100 a page or they were the slowest typists ever. He walked out and found a great deal at a small town dealership as someone mentioned above

I love the smell of apologists in the morning.

The Israelis could break the cease fire 20 minutes from now by shooting some kids, and racist assholes like Tatsuma would find a way to blame it on Muslims.

It must be nice being "oppressed".

"It is a 4.8 megawatt reactor. That's about 1/200'th the size of a regular nuclear reactor. A meltdown might affect all of the commons area on campus and maybe a few houses scattered near the labs."

Fortunately that is impossible. Unlike former USSR models which were moderated with graphite, light water reactors, which are used in the US, actually lose efficiency as neutron population rises. Therefore, it would not be physically possible to get out of control. Also, redundancy systems would SCRAM it automatically if neutron population gets to high. SCRAM is actually an acronym for Safety Control Rod Ax Man. That dude would cut the rope holding the control rods which in turn would drop into the core and dissipate the reaction. Nowadays they are held up by electromagnets which also take care of the problem of what to do in a power failure. In other words, it would have eventually turned itself off if left along. As far as the prompt critical scenario, that is impossible with the type of fuel they use. You'd be surprised at how many universities have research reactors similar to MIT's.

ESPN sucks now, just like every other cable channel that was bought or founded by a Big 3 network. I consider those channels to be posessed, in the head-spinning, "original entertainment" vomiting, ceiling-climbing sense. I'm about a year late in canceling cable, for those reasons.

That being said, I think Harold Reynolds is ok. It's always fun to watch a player convert to broadcaster, and Reynolds made the transition. My favorite Reynolds moment was the time he rolled with a Showalter takeout slide on set, during one of those "how-to" pieces. Hilarious!
