I don't know anything about the how one would accomplish such a conspiracy (WTC collapse) but I can say that the government had such plans ("operation northwoods"- google it); those in power had expressed a desire for a new pearl harbor to expand american military spending and create a new imperial american power structure (google 'Project for a new american century' and 'new pearl harbor') and the very people who openly wished for this sort of event just happened to be in power when it happened and just happened to benefit both idealogically and finacially from it.

I am always suprised how people can laugh at conspiracies yet never question such happy 'coincidences'.

What was the motive? What has the motive always been...world domination. It is a goal as old as time.

Rapmaster2000: "Conspiracy theories exist for the same reasons that belief in God exists. People can't believe that the world is filled with random shiat that goes down for no good reason. It's much easier to believe that someone is behind the scenes pulling all the levers."

But dear Rapmaster, someone was pulling the levers, and did in fact conspire.

Osama Bin Laden and Khalid Sheik Mohammed and their trusty band of martyrs, I believe was the story...

there is no doubt that 9-11 was allowed to happen by the Bush government under advisement of Karl Rove.
but all the administration did was stand back and watch. there was no military/cia involvement. no one planted explosives or did anything to assist the hijackers. there were no remote controlled planes, no military jets used. this was just a "let the hijackers fulfill their mission" sequence of events.
the bush administration knew this attack was going to happen, knew when it would happen, and acted in a manner that would provide a smoke screen for their years in office to allow them unprecedented levels of control over the american people and allow them to bypass the constitution.

First, what evidence do you have. Second, you need to read what the Wilson administration did during WWI or Lincoln during the Civil War before you start talking about "unprecedented levels of control over the american people". Everything else you say is just boilerplate moonbattiness. You need to open your eyes

Trinilos: The government isn't competent enough to have pulled it off itself, but if there's on thing they're good at, it's witholding information.

The way people react to any story that doesn't come from the MSM seems to indicate that anyone could pull it off. Short of a confession from GWB the majority of people would doubt any conspiracy theory.

I like how the Loose Change people claim a plane crashing into a building can't bring it down when it has never happened before. How can you tell me what is supposed to happen if it has only happened once in history and can't be replicated to scale? How many thousands of times have things reacted in science not the way they were supposed to?

I like the statement that fire can't melt metal. Umm....how do you think they form steel or other metals, with magic laser beams?
=======================================

And I like how you're trying to distort the position again. No one said "fire" could not melt steel. What the experts said is that the fire in the building was not sufficiently HOT ENOUGH to melt the steel.

Two firefighters climbing up the South Tower, Orio Palmer and Ronald Bucca, have reached its 78th floor, the lower end of the impact zone where Flight 175 hit. [New York Times, 8/4/2002] They are just two floors below the level where, minutes later, its collapse initiates. [Federal Emergency Management Agency, 5/1/2002, pp. 2-34] Over radio, Palmer tells firefighter Joseph Leavey, "We've got two isolated pockets of fire. We should be able to knock it down with two lines." [Dwyer and Flynn, 2005, pp. 206] The fact that they reached so high up the tower only comes to light almost a year later, when a tape of radio communications from 9/11 is made public (see August 4, 2002). The New York Times will report "[N]owhere on the tape is there any indication that firefighters had the slightest indication that the tower had become unstable or that it could fall." [New York Times, 11/9/2002] Palmer's communication appears to contradict claims that "extreme fires" contributed to the tower's collapse. [BBC, 9/13/2001; New York Times, 10/20/2004] Ronald Bucca, a Special Forces veteran, had actually conducted his own private research into Islamic militancy following the 1993 WTC bombing. He'd even taken time, in 1996, to attend the beginning of the trial of Ramzi Yousef, a mastermind of the bombing (see September 5, 1996).

albo: and 25-30 percent structural damage to it from the towers dropping debris on it

Again, not arguing for the conspiracies, just that stement: 25-30% damage to the external facade 25-30% damage to the suportative structure. If the minor damage to the outside brought it down, the thing was built out of dominoes.

You are correct about Vince Foster. But, for the most part, it was on the extreme edges of the right. The leader of the RNC did not ask that there be an investigation into the Foster death because a lot of people think Clinton did it. You didn't have members of Congress saying Clinton ordered the hit.

Wow this whole 9/11 conspiracy thing sounds like a job for Myth Busters. I mean all they would have to do is build a scale replica model of the twin towers with all the floors in steel and glass. Then build a scale model of a jet plane, or just simulate a crash and burn at umpteen degrees and see if it collapses.

If they wanted to get really fancy they could do each tower seperately and then do a scale model of the entire WTC side and then crash a pair of RC planes loaded with jet fuel into the models.

Paranoia-': Anywho... I don't know about 9/11... but the Pentagon, there are some serious lies going on about that. So much math and science has been used to study the attack, and it's simply not plausible to say that a plane achieved the wreckage that occured.

What the fark? What kind of math and science says a plane didn't hit the Pentagon?

All of this blather about the physics of building implosions is a wookie. By positing a stupid, easily dismissed conspiracy theory, more realistic ones can be tarred with the same brush.

Shadowy Agent A: Some terrorists are going to hijack some planes and crash them into buildings ... should we stop 'em?

Shadowy Agent B: Are they likely to kill more than a few hundred people?

SAA: Nah. Shouldn't kill more than the passengers and the parts of the building they hit.

SAB: Then let 'em do it. It is much easier to control the population when they are afraid of the boogeyman.

.
.
.

SAA: Uh, boss? I may have underestimated the damage.

1. Con a bunch of nutjob fundamentalists to hijack planes on a suicide mission. (Not hard to do, given that there are lots of wacko jihadists out there, thanks to US/UN/Israeli policies.

2. Give them the inside poop on the ideal day for the jacking (HINT: pick a day when the US air defense is busy doing drills, and thus unlikely to be able to recognize a real event from the drill)

3. ?????

Those were 19 men on 4 planes on the same day after waiting and planning for years. As for the flying they only needed enough flight training to hit the world's largest office building and two of the world's largest towers and something else. They hit 3 of their 4 targets which isn't too shabby.

Dear lord people. I am not talking about your ranting. I don't have time to read through the pages and pages of ramblings, I was discussing this statement in TFA:

"I do believe that it's the first time in history that fire has ever melted steel," said O'Donnell. "It is physically impossible."

Everyone who posts something along the lines of
"OMG THERMITE TEH US IZ DE JOO REVERSE VAMPIRE TERRORIZTS!!1!"
is from this point on required to post their credentials, either education or work experience, that qualifies them to talk about structural engineering, chemistry, demolitions, aeronautical engineering, architecture, or fire propogation.

Otherwise you get the ass(tinfoil)hat designation.

DROxINxTHExWIND: What the experts said is that the fire in the building was not sufficiently HOT ENOUGH to melt the steel.

You don't have to melt steel to compromise it's structural integrity.

Dear 9/11 conspiracy theorists:

Please shut up. Not only are you making asses of yourselves, you're also actively damaging the political discource in the west.

Thankyou for your cooperation.

The worst - at absolute WORST - case scenario that is realistically possible for 9/11 conspiracy is that the white house deliberately ignored vague indications of the threat. If they had anything like specific knowledge of the impending attack, it would be political suicide to allow it to come to pass.

And I like how you're trying to distort the position again. No one said "fire" could not melt steel. What the experts said is that the fire in the building was not sufficiently HOT ENOUGH to melt the steel.

And now you're distorting the question by intimating that the steel failed because it melted. It failed because it was weakened by the heat and was unable to support the weight.

As for the firemen not knowing the building was about to fall... what's the point of that? Of course they had no indication it was going to fall, why in the heck would they. There have been thousands of structural failures in which no one had any indication that there was anything wrong.

Get a clue, or at least read up on some materials science. It's a whole engineering discipline you know.

BackAssward: Dasboot: I did some GIS and could not find any pics of the buggy mounted to the lunar lander, but apparently it was mounted to the outside and the astronauts detached it when they landed. I am sure there are pics or drawings somewhere.

Given their relative size and my understanding of engineering, I cannot see it mounter to the side. The lander is obviously made to be relatively balanced from side to side, the lander would shift it's center of gravity to the extent it would have made landing quite impossible... this is also why it couldn't be mounted underneath (it would obstruct the rocket).

They could have dropped it from the orbiter, but then, they didn't really have the capabilities to keep it from crashing into the moon (no atmosphere = no parachutes and the airbag system used on MARS is very new).

Well, if you go over to Grumman, and look at the spare one they have there like I did, you can see how the rover folds up and is stored inside one of the bottom panels. Or you could just see if NASA mentions it.

Conspiracy theories like this are just silly. If there was a conspiracy, don't you think someone involved would have come forward by now? It's in human nature to talk about secrets and whistle blow.

Either 100% of the people involved would have to be perfectly loyal and unwilling or unable to divulge the secrets they know (against human nature), or they didn't know they were taking part in a conspiracy (I can't see that happening, how would workers put explosives to the support beams of a building without knowing what it was?), or they were all assassinated after the job was done (now that's just silly).

Aluminum melts at 1220 degrees, and it ignites in the presence of oxygen at 1400 degrees and forms aluminum oxide in a reaction that can output heat in excess of 4500 degrees.

Aluminum, he said, melts at about 1,220 degrees. At about 1,400 degrees, it can automatically ignite and burst into flames without any spark, Manuta said.

He said he believes Columbia lost its protective tiles at some point either during exit or re-entry. Then, the shuttle was exposed to the very high temperatures of final re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere.

The aluminum quickly heated to its melting point and then to its auto-ignition point. Once it began burning, it reacted with the oxygen in the atmosphere to make aluminum oxide, he said.

"The formation of aluminum oxide is accompanied by the release of a tremendous amount of heat," he wrote in his report. Manuta said temperatures can reach around 5,000 degrees.
Also, when heated at temperatures of say 1000ºF, iron oxides (rusts) much more rapidly. The formation of iron oxide from iron is an exothermic
reaction, so at a high temperature the iron will actually burn, increasing its own temperature continually until it crumbles away.

So... When the aluminum gets hot enough to melt, very bad things will start to happen. Iron will start to oxidize rapidly, forming iron oxide, and hot iron oxide + hot aluminum = more aluminum oxide, plus you have sulfur oxide coming out of the burning gypsum drywall, etc. etc. etc.

there were a number of investigations...

There have been seven known government investigations concerning the death of former White House Deputy Counsel Vincent W. Foster: the US Park Police investigation, the simultaneous one conducted by the FBI in parallel with the Park Police, the separate FBI investigation into the discovery of the so-called Foster "torn note" in Foster's briefcase six days after his death, the one performed by Robert Fiske (the first "Whitewater" Counsel), that conducted by Rep. William Clinger (then ranking Republican on the Committee on Government Operations), the one conducted by the Senate "Whitewater" Committee, and the investigation done by the current "Whitewater" Independent Counsel, Kenneth Starr and released to the public on October 10, 1997

So Bush, the Illuminati, Skull & Bones, or whoever are capable of pulling off a conspiracy that would most likely involve hundereds of people to...

* Secretly plant the thermite demolition charges at the WTC
* Remote pilot the planes that hit the WTC.
* Launch the "cruise missile".
* Plant the faked 757 parts at the Pentagon
* Leak the story to the BBC.
* Round up and "disappear" the passengers off the flights involved.
* Plan the entire thing & set up Osama as a patsie.

And then after all of this...

They can't even "find" any WMD's in Iraq????
