And people on Fark actually gave me shiat once because I said I hated Myspace. Yes, because we can all see what a beacon of goodness that site is.

/I'm right, so kiss it

In the eyes of the law, what the people the mother hired to do is considered kidnapping, even though there was no ransom. If this had happened in Oregon & the non-custodial parent would likely be charged with conspiracy to commit kidnap & custodial interference.

That being said, what if the kidnappers decided to hold out for a higher amount, in essence demand ransom? While it didn't happen in this case, it certainly could have.

SilentStrider: seriously, we're starting to need a tag for Myspace like we do for Florida

i'm usually against tag requests, but i think this one is justified. myspace is even stupider than florida

hahaha what a stupid biatch!

Dom Roark That makes it less worse how? She still had no control over what they did between the time they "grabbed" her and handed her over.

First you don't seem to read that she was not paying them to really "kidnap" the kid. No kidding. After they kidnapped her, wtf were they supposed to do with her, I wonder. But in fact to grab the kid for her.

Second you then read something into the article that you have no idea if it's true or not. She still had no control over what they did between the time they "grabbed" her and handed her over. For all we know she was following them.

I'm not saying she's a Mother of the Year, but we do not know the whole story. How many times have we seen some asshat that has molested his kids get custody? The mother hires someone to get the kids back, and she's a hero. At least it's on PrimeTime a couple times a month.

More then $500? That would be just plain greedy!

This is not a clearly written article. You have to read to the bottom AND between the lines, to find out the child was in the legal custody of her father when all this occurred.

And yet I'm considered a nut-job because I support summary executions in these types of cases. Sheesh...

the death penalty for kidnapping? yeah, you're nuts.

Perhaps you're not familiar with the definition of the word "kidnap".

Definitions of kidnap on the Web:
* take away to an undisclosed location against their will and usually in order to extract a ransom;

* In criminal law, kidnapping is the taking away of a person against the person's will.

I would bet money that this child did not go willingly with these complete strangers. Your use of the word "grab" doesn't make this any less of a heinous crime.

For all we know she was following them.
You mean like, for instance, they were in a completely separate vehicle than she was? OUT OF HER DIRECT CONTROL?

I stand by my original point.

It's biatches like those two "kidnappers" that is destroying the industry. I got bills to pay and those two clowns go undercutting the going market to make a measly $500? I am absolutely appalled.
Thank you submitter for bringing this to my attention.

Go read Freakanomics, digest the argument that Roe v Wade was a major determinant in the reduction of the national crime rate, then go out and support your local Pro Choice/Family Planning organizations!

WTF is it with MySpace? It seems to be some really weird shiat about people from that site in the news just about every day now.

I thought that too, but she seemed like a spam profile

I think the abortion vs. crime rate is one of those correlation vs. causation thingamajiggers. Ceteris paribus... hardly. A lot of variables changed since Roe v Wade.

Just because there's statistics that correlate abortion & crime rate doesn't mean that there's anything more than statistics. Just because you can count it doesn't mean that it counts.

He also said that abortion was NOT an effective form of crime prevention, as the number of aborted fetuses greatly out numbered the increase in violent crime and murder... it's a kin to saying "we should wipe out the human race, to prevent murder and violent crime"

/for abortion... reading one book does not make you smart.

There's nothing inherently wrong with a website that encourages social interaction. The problem is that people use the site and many people are bat-shiat crazy.

I don't think you hate MySpace. I think you hate people.

2007-04-09 03:22:06 PM
I think a lot of people didn't RTFA

She didn't want them to steal it from her. But from the Dad and give to her.

Not saying it makes it better. Those who read TFA pointed out that the kidnappers could easily hold out for more before giving her back to Mom.

2007-04-09 03:24:14 PM
Silly biatch, don't you know for illegal shiat like that you need to use Crigslist.

@Flan
Four? Taking the kid out to prevent future problems, I guess?

TFA: On Sunday, police arrested Gonzales, Galvan, Yanez and Gonzales' aunt, 35-year-old Jeannette Noah. All four have been charged with agreement to abduct from custody

Fark has missed the boat on the MySpace tag.
They had such a great opportunity.
Now, by the time they actually get a MySpace tag, MySpace will go out of business or something.

"I don't think you hate MySpace. I think you hate people."

That is the most eloquent thing I've read all day, and so true, too!
All this time I thought I hated myspace, but now I realize that I hate people, cheesy profile or no. I never would have thought of it that way if it weren't for that sentence, so gracefully displayed in these threads.

I think I just found my zen!

True, but the img.fark.com tag applies to most if not all of the MySpace stories anyhow. So I think we're covered...

Anyone care to raise that?

And then there are people like my Cousins Ex Husband(a respected cop in a major city)
Who broke into her house with the help of another cop on his force, and stole the oldest 2 of thier children out of bed while they were sleeping in the midst of thier custody battle... then bribed the judge and got custody. It took several years to get the case back in court and get the kids returned to thier mother.

Well, at least now we know WHY Mother-of-the-Year here was not awarded custody of her kid when she and hubby split up.

/understandable reaction on her part.
//stupid and evil, but understandable.

oye, should of read: He also said that abortion was NOT an effective form of crime prevention,...

Maybe they've just not been aborting the right ones. As the preventative abortion algorithms improve, the resulting crime numbers should improve.

Myspace does not suck. people do! People are just plane dumb! :)

Wow, whats maybe scarier is before I RTFA, I thought I knew who it was. The wifes friend considered hiring someone to kidnap her two year old to teach her a lesson about wandering off in the store and hiding.

And as more evidence that people should have to have parenting classes before they have children to teach them things like your child hasn't the ability to understand action --> consequence at the age of two as you do at the age of twenty-five...

I was shopping in an evil corporate empire that we'll just call...Shmalmart...and a woman was talking in hushed angry tones to her two-year-old babbling child. I was close enough to hear (and she was blocking the cereal I wanted to get), and this is how the conversation went:

***

Mother (in Texan accent): Now, I told you to be quiet and if you don't be quiet you're gon' get hurt!

Toddler: ::incoherent cheery babbling, oblivious to mother, playing with fingers::

Mother: I done warned you twice, now you know what's gon' happen! You be quiet!

Toddler: (same as before)

Mother: ::smacks child::

Toddler: ::shocked pause, followed by crying::

Mother: Don't you act so surprised, I done told you what was gon' happen! You wanna get hit 'gain?

***

Now, this is the part where I instinctually want to smack the mother, but I have no kids of my own yet, and when you question people's parenting, you inevitably get the, "You'll understand when you have children." Plus, I'm new to Texas and this seems to be normal parenting down here.

2007-04-09 07:26:53 PM
wh0mprat: Plenty of fathers kidnap their kids too.

I was kidnapped by my mother and taken out of state when my dad got sole custody, so I'm really getting a kick out of these replies.
/not kidding, the feds came and got me and my lil sis.
//no, women are crazy, guys just kill themselves when they've been farked over as royally as women try to and get away with.

2007-04-09 07:54:18 PM
At least she wasn't like my mother, whom tried so desperately to get my brother and I that after a year of separation and being in my Dad's custody, she wrote a letter to my Dad's lawyer accusing him of molesting us. Might have worked if he hadn't spent that last year taking his lawyer's advice of getting social services to check out the house and interview us...

/glad mom didn't get us
//she liked to *glug glug*

pretty soon we won't need law enforce on the street, they can just surf myspace and make the arrest when a criminal act is posted.

2007-04-09 11:50:34 PM
Aduh

If I had seen that, it would have taken every ounce of self-control to keep myself from smacking that coont. However, I definitely would have reported her. I don't give a fark if that's the norm in Texas, that's still abuse.
