(Cinematical)   The reviews of "The Reaping" are in: "'The Next Karate Kid' is no longer the embarrassing thing on Hilary Swank's resume." Yep, that'll be in the TV ads   (cinematical.com) divider line 156

Don't care.
I'm going to see it anyway.

2007-04-05 03:24:40 PM
Insta green!

2007-04-05 03:25:33 PM
Yes! My first green after my break from TF, only 20 minutes or so after coming back. Excellent.

So is that what the plague movie is called?

I forgot.

I saw trailers for it but it looked kind of dull.

CtrlAltDelete: So is that what the plague movie is called?

Yeah, apparently. There's some billboards around town, but it doesn't look that interesting.

2007-04-05 04:04:16 PM
I saw it on Monday. It was better than I'd have thought. It was creepy, and engaging for the first hour or so, but the last 15 minutes are quite possibly the worst in cinematic history

2007-04-05 04:05:06 PM
It's got a whopping 6% on rottentomatoes. It's rather funny to read through some of the other reviews:

-If Moses was in the theater, he'd stand up ... and demand, 'Let these people go.'

-The only way The Reaping could be worse would be if Swank put on a bear suit and ran through the woods.

-If you turn away from God and do not repent, God will kill you. You will die. The end.

2007-04-05 04:07:05 PM
BEES! NO, NOT THE BEES! YOU BIATCHES! OHHHHHHHHH, MY LEGS! NO, NO BEES! PLEASE! OHHHHHHHH, MY EYES!

occrider: -If you turn away from God and do not repent, God will kill you. You will die. The end.

It's probably aimed at the same market as that "Left Behind" stuff. Which is a pretty good business decision if you want to make a fairly steady amount of money, but not if you're going for a blockbuster.

/Had an idea the other day: they have Christian Rock, right? So why not Christian Death Metal? Except stick some major chords at the end, and call it "Rebirth Metal"--betcha it'd sell like crazy to all the fundie kids who want to feel 'cool'.

2007-04-05 04:26:36 PM
Hah! This movie looks terrible.

I came to this thread to see if anyone had posted that it was all a Liberal Hollywood Machine Conspiracy to marginalize Christians.

Come on folks, get ON that!

2007-04-05 04:40:12 PM
I can't believe anyone hasn't said the obvious.

It was all a Liberal Hollywood Machine Conspiracy to marginalize Christians.

It's so obvious!

//puts on tinfoil hat.

This movie is like a self parody.

They should have called it "The Reapening" instead. Then I'd go see it.

2007-04-05 04:42:48 PM
Thanks SmoothTex! I knew I could count on you.

2007-04-05 04:43:40 PM
Hilary Swank's Esquire pictorial was stunning.

gilgigamesh: They should have called it "The Reapening" instead. Then I'd go see it.

That's what I call it whenever I'm describing it to people. A much more appropriate title to be sure.

2007-04-05 06:32:00 PM
The Grim Reapening works too.

2007-04-05 06:40:08 PM
Don't fear the Reapener.

gilgigamesh: Don't fear the Reapener.

Well, seasons don't fear the Reapener--nor do the winds, the sun and the rain.

We could be like them.

/This movie needs more cowbell.

2007-04-05 07:04:13 PM
Probably needs more cowbell.

2007-04-05 07:04:52 PM

Awesome!

Surely "The Core" was much worse than the Next Karate Kid.

/The Black Dahlia was awful too.

2007-04-05 07:08:45 PM
do not want Reapairing
I want see that straight punch that broke her nose in Baby. Farking awesome scene. loved the expression on her face when that punch popped her. and how she backed up doing the Rat-face tryin to shake it off. Awesome

Gonna be huge in the south.

2007-04-05 07:10:42 PM
this movie needs more Reapinicity!

Movies like this are why cheap front projectors and Netflix exist.

Just imagine Elmer Fudd reaping Daffy Duck.

2007-04-05 07:14:51 PM
I'm still going to see it. Reviews said 300 was brilliant. I don't trust them anymore.

2007-04-05 07:15:17 PM
You know, I actually thought it looked pretty good. But then again, I also thought the exorcism of emily rose looked good. That review was awesome though, I LOL'd

2007-04-05 07:15:38 PM

Maybe they can combine this movie with "Grindhouse" and call it a triple feature.

Hopefully I'll be seeing Grindhouse tommorow. Jordan Ladd, Rose McGowan and Carla Gugino in the same movie. I think I might make love to the movie screen...

Sorry buddy, there already is Christian Death Metal

2007-04-05 07:20:03 PM
I just saw a commercial for "Are we there yet?" and to quote one of the greats on an SNL appearance, "Wowie wow wow wow."

Bootysama: Sorry buddy, there already is Christian Death Metal

Aw, shiat.

Alright, then: Christian Punk.

That should make for some pretty hardcore body piercings.

Just imagine Elmer Fudd reaping Daffy Duck.

I think you mean Porky Pig and Elmer Fudd. Carlin: "Hey, why do you think they call him Porky, eh?"

And when I saw the movie posters, this was the first thing I thought of:

Owangotang: Ya know with Easter right around the corner I think they should have gone with "The Peepening".

Or maybe, based on the reviews, "The Weepening."

There is Christian Death Metal. Check out Burial, Undeceived and Invocation. Not that I've heard any of these bands. Just heard of them.

Baby Buttoneyes is coming to get you.

Then they could have a prequel called "The Sowening"

2007-04-05 07:24:25 PM
-If Moses was in the theater, he'd stand up ... and demand, 'Let these people go.'

That's gold, Jerry! Gold!

dj_relish: There is Christian Death Metal. Check out Burial, Undeceived and Invocation. Not that I've heard any of these bands. Just heard of them.

Yeah, I just heard. Christian Punk would be promising, though, what with the extreme body piercings...

she has a tendency to do one good movie then one shiatty one.
boys dont cry(where she won an award for portraying a transvestite), then the Core,
million dollar baby (for portraying a quadriplegic), then this shiat.
