A one-L lama, he's a priest;
A two-L llama, he's a beast;
But I would bet a silk pyjama
That you won't find a three-L Lllama.

/That one's been stuck in my head for years now.

Awesome. Scary to think what else is stuck in your head, dude.

I've been saying that for a while, but I'm not sure how much has gotten through to folks. I guess it doesn't 'stick' because it won't fit on a bumper sticker.

That annoys the piss out of me about the "enlightened".

You take Las Palmas to Colorado
Take Colorad down to Pico

muninsfire: So you're taking the position that "all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing", then?

How far can you logically carry that?

I don't have to carry it anywhere. The current political climate in this country is evidence enough that it is occurring. See: gays.

Just wanted to mention that if you feel that Christians have a right to preach their beliefs, then atheists should be free to mention how much they dislike the backwards, bigoted, death-obsessed Christians

Who do you think revealed that number to Prophet Adams? As great as he was, your prophet is little more than a tool used by the great Cleese to unveil the truth.

Jesus' teachings concerned the 613 mitzvot (commandments) in the Old Testament. Most so call Christians can't even list 5 of the 10 commandments.

Jesus says in Mathew 5:17-18 "17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Aren't so called Christians going to burn in Hell for all eternity in a lake of fire suffering unspeakable torment for not following the law that Jesus spoke about in such a way?

...For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled...

What's with all this respect for the Dali Lama anyway? Doesn't he claim to be the reincarnation of the Buddha?

No.

Technically, each Dali Lama is a reincarnation of the Dali Lama before him. So, Tenzin Gyatso (the current Dali Lama at #14) is teh reincarnation of Thubtin Gyatso, the 13th Dali Lama.

I think :-)

I went to a talk by the Dalai Llama with an open mind and it was the most boring pseudospiritual bs masquerading as science, with people who somehow managed to attain "Dr." infront of their name explaining the science behind how if everyone is nice to each other then the world will become a better place... NO shiat

I agree entirely. Buddhism is the way people described this obvious truth before we had science and understood the universe. Look at what science shows us... we're insignificant pieces of nothing in no particularly useful place in the universe. Our moral intuition, physical existance, and consciousness can all be shown to be insignificant and unspectacular as explained by natural selection; they are not some sort of special creation. Buddhists have been saying all this stuff for forever, but they're old way of talking about it is wishy-washy and no longer necessary. We've got facts and proofs that show the same thing without the poetry.

Christianity, on the other hand, isn't just stupid for its wishy-washy explainations... is batshiat-stupid all around including how they think the universe works on a fundamental level... unless you get to some sort of ultra-liberal Christian view where you just think there's some Christian god spirit that is really just the essence of "good" and not some old guy living in the sky.

"All movements go too far."

"I would never die for my beliefs because I might be wrong."

"I think we ought always to entertain our opinions with some measure of doubt. I shouldn't wish people dogmatically to believe any philosophy, not even mine."

"If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way."

"Many people would sooner die than think; In fact, they do so."
