CNN just reported that they have confirmed that the woman is the one that has died, and may have been pregnant.

The more I read this news story, the more names I recognize.

I feel sorry for those guys still working there, I figured the would have escaped the Turner nightmare years ago.

Lorelle, I'd greatly appreciate not having my guns confiscated to prevent the possibility of me inconveniencing a criminal in his day-to-day activities. Twice now, in the performance of my job as a driver, I've needed a gun to prevent my being mugged, robbed and/or possibly killed. If you don't want or need a gun, fine. Leave ours alone.

Look on the bright side. If it had been the Vice President doing the shooting, the poor woman would have had to publically apologize for getting in the way of Dick's bullets.

mister aj: Yes, many people aren't going to commit murder with their guns, but some are, and without a legitimate reason to be carrying one around, why not fall on the side of banning guns within the city?

How about because banning guns is not the same as eliminating guns? Guns are easy to make, easy to smuggle. Banning guns doesn't stop bad people from doing bad things, it just gives the judge a way to tack more time onto the sentence. Banning guns doesn't make guns not exist much like banning drugs doesn't make drugs not exist. Even if you get rid of the guns, people still kill people. Take a look at what happened in Britain when they banned guns - dip in murder, followed by murder rate coming back up to where it was, only this time with knives. Also, other violent crimes increased.

You argue against guns as though every use of them is a bad thing. How about the scenarios where someone small protects themselves from someone large? The pro/anti gun argument is not so simple as "people wouldn't die if we got rid of guns."

I_Approve_Of_This_Message: Same thing happens at the University of Washington campus yesterday, and does it get breaking news treatment? Nooooooooo...

/east coast bias

It's not quite an East Coast bias with CNN, it is an Atlanta bias where they pretty much will take any minor news story that happened in Atlanta and run it relentlessly in the ground. We'll of course get a Larry King devoted to this incident, and at least one hour long special. Just look at the way they've been covering that bus accident in Atlanta.

Seriously CNN, does the country really NEED an hour long special report on why a college athletic team bus ran off of an overpass? Do you need to then repeat this investigative report twice a day for two weeks?

Lorelle

Nah, that was last year. I'm pretty happy about the Trojans having Bevo for dinner a couple of weeks ago, though. A 3-point loss is nowhere near as bad as a 19-point loss. :)

And a National Title is better than a sweet sixteen loss!

Hopefully we will have a rematch in Louisiana in January...

but when they start to get really weird, it's time to put them on "ignore."

By "really weird" she means "posting facts that show her claims to be bullshiat".

Lorelle has cited gunguys.com as a source of anti-gun information. That alone shows that she isn't interested in facts, she's interested in banning any and all guns and that she'll resort to outright lies to do it.

Dimensio: You mean "facts" such as stating that 15 to 17-year-old schoolchildren aren't schoolchildren? Maybe you're referring to the "fact" that you posted about school shootings (it's not a school shooting unless a student is killed), or possibly the "fact" that the AR-15 wasn't invented for killing (killing animals doesn't count)?

Gunguys.com, in case you haven't noticed, has plenty of satire mixed in with the all-too-real accounts of shootings.

...she's interested in banning any and all guns

That, dude, is quite an unmitigated falsehood. I've never stated that in any thread. How dare you imply otherwise. I am thoroughly outraged by your effrontery. You should be ashamed of yourself for making such an utterly calumnious assumption.

Dimensio: You mean "facts" such as stating that 15 to 17-year-old schoolchildren aren't schoolchildren?

No, I mean reporting that a .50BMG round could bring down a jetliner (hint: it couldn't, no matter how good a shot you are).

or possibly the "fact" that the AR-15 wasn't invented for killing (killing animals doesn't count)?

Nice strawman. That doesn't change the fact that you've cited known lies.

Gunguys.com, in case you haven't noticed, has plenty of satire mixed in with the all-too-real accounts of shootings.

Gunguys.com is an astroturf site run by a paid employee of the Joyce Foundation. The website uses demonstratable lies in their claims. They have claimed that "stand your ground" laws would prohibit police from investigating a shooting should the shooter claim "self-defense", a demonstratable lie. They cite 50caliberterror.com's (which is run by the same shill organization) lies about .50 caliber rifles. They claimed repeatedly that the NRA was behind the backlash against Jim Zumbo, when it was clearly a grass-roots effort by individual gun owners, and the NRA did not involve themselves until at least four days after the event.

Gunguys.com claimed that handguns didn't exist at the time of the writing of the US Constitution. They've since gone back and 'corrected' that little error, probably because that was far too transparent a lie to be believable.

Gunguys.com uses lies to support their agenda. Your lauding of gunguys as a resource suggests either that you are willingly parading the same lies that they are, or that you are just another paid shill of the same organization.

That, dude, is quite an unmitigated falsehood. I've never stated that in any thread. How dare you imply otherwise. I am thoroughly outraged by your effrontery. You should be ashamed of yourself for making such an utterly calumnious assumption.

Hmm. You want to ban guns most likely to be used in crimes. But then you also support HR1022, which would ban guns least likely to be used in crimes. After banning all of those guns, what firearms would be left?

No, you've never explicitly stated that you want to ban all guns, but then I never said that you made such an explicit claim. Instead, you've implied quite clearly that you want to ban all guns in your open and demonstratable support for various individual gun bans that would, collectively, ban all firearms.

You're an anti-gunner who sees nothing wrong with using lies and liars (such as gunguys and VPC, going so far as to list a series of demonstratable lies on .50BMG rifles) to support your agenda. Why should anything that you say be trusted?

sure it could...if fired from within the cabin.

It's clear that many of you didn't RTFA. Yes two people were shot, yes it was downtown Atlanta, yes it was at the CNN center. It was also a guy killing his ex for reasons unknown.

It was not a random shooting, act of terrorism, or any other random act of violence by our local "thug populace". There's no need to pray for the employees of CNN as they were never in danger. This was a premeditated murder with a predefined target. End of story.
