Ha ha ha! Oh gosh, subby, that's funny! That's really funny! Do you write your own material? Do you? Because that is so fresh. A gay cowboy joker. You know, I've, I've never heard anyone make that joke before. Hmm. You're the first. I've never heard anyone reference, reference that since Brokeback Mountain came out. Because that's what Heath Ledger is in the movie, right? Isn't it? A gay cowboy? And, and yet you've taken that and used it out of context for a Fark submission. God what a clever, smart submitter you must be, to come up with a joke like that all by yourself. That's so fresh too. Any, any Weakest Link jokes you want to throw at me too as long as we're hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity. God you're so funny!

Jack Nicholson was an awful Joker. Burton is more to blame for that than Nicholson, but it's an awful performance nonetheless.

If I was going to cast the Joker, I would have gone with this guy:

Nabb1: Yeah, I was afraid you were going to say that.

Had the show taken a more serious spin, impossible at the time, he would have had a chance to show how great he really was.
Instead he is remembered as a caricature.

A shame, really.

Why not get Mark Hamill?

Don't forget Mark Hamill's voice work in the animated series. Frankly, I think he conveyed The Joker's malignant insanity much better than either Nicholson or Romero, especially in "Mask of the Phantasm."

Right, because anger is not some abstract concept, but rather a tangible presence I can interact with.

Even without seeing Heath's performance, I know Crispin Glover's would have been infinitely better.

I really enjoyed Roar. I wonder if it's on DVD yet...

I agree that Jack Nicholson's Joker did suck. A pity that he got paid more than anyone ever got paid for anything for his performance.

The Joker should be scarier than Hannibal Lecter and Courtney Love combined.

I thought Jack Nicholson's Joker was perfect for Tim Burton's Batman, just as Mark Hamill was for animated Batman. But either of them would be wrong for Christopher Nolan's Batman. Heath Ledger is not my first choice (that would be Crispin Glover), but I'm trying to be open minded about it. My first impression is that he's too young. But Nolan says that was his reason for casting him. This is supposed the origin of Batman vs Joker, so it's like a "this is how they got started" approach.

2007-04-03 02:02:06 PM
Mark Hamil would have been a great choice. Not only did he do the Joker's voice, he also played an obvious ripoff in the old "The Flash" TV show (the Trickster).

2007-04-03 02:06:40 PM
Mugato, for Fariuza Balk as Quinn, you are indeed a genius... or a genocidal madman, either way you kick ass.
