don't want this to turn into a flamewar or anything, but that's a lame response...just because I don't want to go to the trouble of starting my own website doesn't mean I don't have a point. As far as I understand it, the mods have a duty to make sure that the threads that make the main page are of a certain quality. As srhp29 pointed out, however, this thread got greenlighted even though it pointed to the wrong page.

Am I bitter that my threads haven't been greenlighted? Yeah, but only when stuff like this gets approved.

Also, it isn't necessary for me to start a new website to show you how it ought to be done because the somethingawful forums already provide a good example. There's no greenlighting process so everything makes it through, BUT, if your post is against the rules or otherwise deficient, then you get your account revoked, or put on probation. Works quite nicely, imho.

ah, but the point isn't that everything doesn't get through. The point is that many farkers are so desperate to be the first to submit a link that they churn out badly formulated threads. TFark is worse from that standpoint because it contains all of those links, and not just the ones that manage to slip through and get greenlighted. I mention the SA Forums only because the probation function creates an incentive for people to do a good job formulating threads.

Anyway, by and large I'm happy with both forums and so I won't be going anywhere anytime soon
