I am not a troll, I was pointing out that if everyone used their own personal definitions, language becomes meaningless and discussion impossible.

I am not a communist. And if you'll look, my definition is pretty much the dictionary definition. I was explaining it to you so that you could better understand what mutilation means.

I'm kind of worried that I didn't have a response to that. I'd say the point of the thread had something to do with AIDS, but what the hell do I know.

So, who thinks that the HPV vaccine should only be given to girls old enough, say 18, to decide for themselves. It hurts, and can't be taken back, and they may have religious objections to it, or just not like needles?

Not quite the same. If a foreskin becomes an issue, it can be removed later on. Once you've got HPV, there's no getting the preventative procedure (except to stop you from getting other strains of the virus).

This is not first hand (pun?) but my best friend at my first real job got cut after he'd been married for several years. He and I and his wife all worked in the medical field. She was having problems with infections "down there", and not into BJs so...

Snip!

Her problems with infections were soon gone. His sex life was much improved. He claimed it was the best thing he'd ever done.

/YMMV

interesting.

i've always wondered if perhaps circumcision was an attempt to prevent some regional disease or health problem that we don't face today, hence contemporary dispute over an unlikely act required in many ancient societies.

perhaps its usefulness is becoming evident again.

Pollexabator: Yeah, only the real high quality shows feature talking donkeys...

She was a ten after the tequila. Its not my fault she grew all that hair overnight.

wittybanter: What if someone came along and told you that your wang had to get MORE cut - they didn't snip it enough. Would you do it? Is there any part of your peener that you would be happy to see removed NOW? Lose another inch of skin maybe?

Part of the problem is that adult circumcision is more risky, and painful. So asking this question is a little disingenuous.

For example, I'd much rather my tonsils had been taken out at age 5. But, eventually I will have enough infections that I'll need them removed at age...40. I will probably have a much longer recovery due to that. Either way, I won't miss them, though.

I'll read your responses to my wisdom later. So, be truthful...it is for posterity.

2007-03-28 04:36:42 PM
I win? nice.

I am guessing that people have different levels of "cut". If someone told you that you should be without another inch of skin, would you be down with it? I know that I like every single piece of my wang exactly as it is, and would not want any parts of it gone.

The HPV vaccine doesn't take anything away from girls. It boosts their immune system, giving them something extra. The religion fanatics might not like it, but it's not like the vaccine cuts a chunk of skin off...

//I'm pretty sure only the small pox vaccine took a chunk of skin off, but I'm not sure
///Considering all the variables, the small pox vaccine is worth it though

I have to admit that I didn't care for the uncut one I was served. The foreskin felt so mooshy and foreign. Even when I cleaned it myself, there was a little residual scent. But then I am American and of the age where damn near all of them were cut. It's what I am used to. I feel conflicted over this, because I agree that circumcision is unnecessary. At the same time, I really do like the mushroom more.

CORELLATION IS NOT CAUSATION.

You know what else is probably true?

Men 16-24 who engage in LARP have a 1000% lower chance to contract HIV.

CLEARLY LARP SHOULD BE PROMOTED IN SOUTH AFRICA!

2007-03-28 04:40:04 PM
Oh shiat, 60% reduction in female -> male cases. So, let's say you're uncut and wash up really well after sex. It'd have to still reduce the chance by a good percent.

So remember that African politician that said he washed well after the event? Maybe we weren't as justified as we thought when making fun of him.

They don't lop off the end of the penis. People, educate yourselves. The penis is not shorter. There is a flap of skin over the tip (not some extra inch of hardware). That flap is removed from the base of the head where it is attached. While attached it lays next to the head.

You don't get longer with it, or shorter without it. Not really. Geez, people we are not talking about taking an inch of anything, its more like taking a hangnail off.

I was referring to the definition you posted.

1.to injure, disfigure, or make imperfect by removing or irreparably damaging parts: Vandals mutilated the painting.
2.to deprive (a person or animal) of a limb or other essential part.

I also posted the definition of deprive for you.

1. to remove or withhold something from the enjoyment or possession of (a person or persons): to deprive a man of life; to deprive a baby of candy.

MY definition of mutilation is the involutary removal of parts or injury to someone. So someone getting their tongue split so they can have a snake tongue: not mutilation. Walking up to someone and cutting their ear off when they didn't want you to: mutilation. I'm using the dictionary definition, but with more explaination so that you understand it better.

Troll.

Normally, I'd be a bit loud and determined over the benefits of circumcision over the uncircumcised. However, in this instance, I can't figure out any concrete reason for WHO's decision -- aside from the statistics of those who have HIV and those who don't.

From what I know of AIDS, circumcised or uncircumcised makes no difference in catching or transmitting the virus. UNLESS the virus will remain active trapped in the moist fluids under the foreskin right after sex for a period of time, increasing the potential for infection. (Not everyone, who contacts the virus, catches it. The virus dies quickly out of the body.) While a circumcised male's member basically 'dries' and cools off more quickly, killing any lingering virus before it can get into the urethra.

Just a bit of mental masturbation there.

Other than that, I have no reason to say that circumcision is safer against AIDS.

2007-03-28 04:47:44 PM
First of all, it's MALE circumcision that has been shown to lessen the spread of aids. This is because the foreskin can tear a little during sex leading to more mixing of bodily fluids and it can hide open sores as well.
Female circumcision is just wrong. Often the equivalent to it is cutting of a guy's whole penis.

Er, it's not like the foreskin has a dotted line around it. People can be snipped higher or lower.

the dumbest part about this argument is that very few people (i personally know of only one) who have experienced both sides.

you both have no idea how sensitive the other is. more nerve endings does not, necessarily, mean more sensitive. how you brain interprets the signal is an important part.

you also have no idea how hard it is to keep the other version clean.

from the person i know that had a late circumcision (due to playing a little too rough), he doesn't notice a difference anymore.

The definition that uses the word "deprive" also says a limb or other essential part. YOUR definition uses one word from definition 2 in conjunction with part of definition 1.

You too fail at logic.

Sigh...

"It's just a piece of skin" - Yes, just a piece of skin where most of the nerve endings are.

"foreskin fills up with gobs of smegma!!" - Only if you never wash your dick.

"It reduces penis cancer!" - In the same way as cutting off your arms and legs would reduce your chance of getting skin cancer. You're reducing the available tissue for tumors to grow on.

"It prevents HIV!" - Perhaps. You're still going to get HIV if you go banging diseased skanks without a condom on, circumcized or not.

"Uncircumcized penises aren't normal" - Says you. It's dropped to around 60:40 in the USA in the last few years.

This push to promote circumcision is nothing more than a callous attempt to continue a practice for which the hospital will bill you ~$400. (Oh, and there are some prudes who hope they can reduce your sex drive by chopping off part of your wanker).

The really, really amusing thing in these threads is watching all the self-righteous weenie-choppers get all bent when someone equates FGM to circumcision. They're both genital mutilation, though. I see nothing that makes your culturally-accepted practice of MGM any less disgusting than FGM. Genital mutilation is genital mutilation, IMHO.

So if you want to cut off your foreskin, bully for you. Just stop trying to convince the rest of us that we should too.

/You're all a bunch of sick weenie-chopping freaks.

So why aren't we removing female infants' mammary glands shortly after birth? I mean, all the same arguments seem valid in the prevention of breast cancer, don't they? It's not a vital organ. It's just a little loss of sexual stimulation, you won't miss it if you've never had it. It won't look weird once the majority are that way, the natural people will be the freaks so it's fine. It could save many lives so why aren't we doing it?

The difference in HIV odds is a matter of simple math. X surface area exposed vs X-Y surface area exposed. You don't need a full statistics course to figure out more skin means more exposed area and hence higher chances. Duh. But is it really worth damaging people for life and then convincing them it's ok? Shouldn't they make that kind of permanent decision once they're able to consent instead of being forced into it by some dogmatic brainwashing of their parents?
