Smarshmallow: 1.to injure, disfigure, or make imperfect by removing or irreparably damaging parts: Vandals mutilated the painting.

Do you understand what "or" means? It means that if any of the following: make imperfect, remove, or irreparably damage, are done to a part of the body, it's mutilation.

Since circumcision is the removal or foreskin, and foreskin is a part of the body, then it fits the definition. Remember, you gave me the definition.

Take a logic course.

If you did you would realize that to mutilate requires One from group A AND one from group B

Group A: Injure, disfigure, Make perfect
Groub B: By means of removing or irreparably damaging parts

A+B =C (mutilate)

If you don't have A, you don't have C.

You fail at logic.

muninsfire: you never checked. maybe you should read up on it.

Court rules HIV not proven to cause 'AIDS'. http://www.la.indymedia.org/news/2003/06/66369.php

The health authorities and the Bundestag know that there will be no test method to prove an HIV-Infection, as long as HIV has not been isolated. And there is no doubt that AZT - as well as the HIV-medications in general - are deadly themselves when used as long-term-medication

Prof. Rita Süssmuth did know, that there had never been any proofs for a virus in connection with AIDS and that there are no proofs for the claims of infectivitiy.

if you hear a lie enough times, it is then taken to be true.

anyway, if you don't feel like reading, check out this page for video goodness http://videosonaids.libsyn.com/

at least watch HIV=AIDS: Fact or Fraud?
and especially The Other Side of AIDS

After 20 years and more than $150 billion in federally funded research, scientists still can't explain how HIV causes AIDS. Millions of people have been declared HIV-positive with tests that can't find the actual virus. The latest AIDS medications are taking more lives than AIDS itself.

it's quite not what you would expect to hear from well informed scientists.

at the very least, it's smart to get a second opinion.

i don't need to mention that there literally dozens of ways to get false HIV positive results, do I?

Agreed. They also need better testing, better doctors, better water, access to condoms and ARV's, better food and better hospitals.

Hard to do all that at once. Circumcision is more expedient. It's not perfect. I'll never argue that. But every little bit helps until the infrastructure, economy etc. can be fixed. And we all know that'll take YEARS and years and years....

Point is to save as many lives as possible in the mean time.

No, it doesn't. Nice try though.

Face it, you posted a definition that disproved your point, and now you're trying to cover your ass.

I haven't read the thread, but I think it's relevant to the direction the thread has taken to point out that actually women perform female circumcisions. Old women are usually the biggest proponets of it- and of course there are societal and cultural reasons for that (don't make it right), but it should be acknowledged.

Mr.Churka: Where did you get that stat? Everything I've ever read from the CDC says that receptive intercourse is the most risky, anal or vaginal.

http://www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/2339.html

My point is that with straight sex, the woman (receptive) ends up with the higher infection rate- which is still only 1-1000 (one sex act).

There was a recent study that showed that Male-female partners who don't use condoms and one is positive the yearly transmission rate is only about 10% (per year).

Actually no, it is simple logic. By YOUR logic removal = mutilation.

Is that what you are saying? Removing any part of the body is mutilation?

Yes, but by mutilating their genitals, we can cut that down by 4%!

The easiest way to tell is this:

When the penis is not erect (I'm betting you don't see it that way very often), the glans (head) will be visible if your boyfriend is circumcised. If the glans is covered with skin, it's uncut.

HTH

2007-03-28 04:10:52 PM
Can I throw some gas on the fire and point out things that would qualify as mutilation by the logic being used here?

Nose jobs,
Elective breast reduction (this should be a crime)
Liposuction
and of course Abortion.

Long drive home I'll see how things went later.

The following problems occur at least twice as often in uncircumcised men:

Phimosis
Paraphimosis
Zipper Injury
Bathroom Splatter
Frenular Chordee
Psychological Sequelae
Balanitis
Balanoposthitis
Urinary Track Disorders
Dick Cancer

Stand tall, my monkies, and beat thy chests. Scream and yell like animals about how your penis is natural, and how you don't care what anyone else thinks. Then beg science to cure you of any diseases you may develop from having a skank penis.

2007-03-28 04:13:22 PM
Smarshmallow: No, I'm saying that your argument was bunk. Your argument basically came down to "Fathers do it to their kids, so it must be OK." Well, fathers do a lot of horrible things to their kids, inserting female into your statement was just the most eloquent way that I saw to express that.

When reasonable people in a free society make decisions over and over, it's unbelievably haughty for you to say that you know better than they do. Parents are motivated to not injure their children. A large number of parents do not believe that circumcision is particularly injurious. And guess what, the numbers bear out that opinion.

There's nothing particularly tragic about circumcision. Using the word mutilation makes you crazy. Maybe one day science will bear out your gut instinct and teach us that being cut is a horrible thing to do to a kid.

But the science isn't thereyet , and you're relying on your own sense of aesthetics to imply that reasonable people are mutilating their own children. That's dumb!

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me how they know that cut people have less sensitivity, or that sex is less pleasant for them...

zeppelinrox: Court rules HIV not proven to cause 'AIDS'.

Oh, is this the latest conspiracy theory? That the Human Immunodeficiency Virus does not cause Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome--that is to say, the disease that is defined as being the collection of symptoms caused by infection by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus?

Are you going to tell me that the common cold is not caused by rhinovirus, too? Are we overturning germ theory?

Yes, there will be false positives--just like for every other test out there; there are no tests that are exempt from a small percentage of false positives. This does not mean that the entire test is invalid.

Millions of people have been declared HIV-positive with tests that can't find the actual virus

Citation, please.

/New conspiracy theories are fun. I take it this is an outgrowth of the "don't vaccinate!" hysteria? It seems to share some of the same rhetoric.

Yeah, and Christians follow the New Testament, but still rely on the Bible for historical data and to fill in the gaps. But granted, that's because the Bible isn't really that much of a rule book like much of the Torah and the Quran.

Got any references/evidence of that? Not trying to be rude, I'm just honestly curious...especially since earlier in the thread, some uncut guy said his is pretty lacking in the sensation department. I'm actually inclined to believe the foreskin is pretty dull sensation wise, given that the main argument is that keratin builds up in the glans when you're cut to prevent irritation. Wouldn't keratin build up in a sensitive foreskin for the same reasons?
