The British kids version looks ridiculously stupid. The American version looks great though.

The summary : Harry has been burdened with a dark, dangerous and seemingly impossible task: that of locating and destroying Voldemort's remaining Horcruxes. Never has Harry felt so alone, or faced a future so full of shadows. But Harry must somehow find within himself the strength to complete the task he has been given. He must leave the warmth, safety , and companionship of The Burrow and follow without fear or hesitation the inexorable path laid out for him!

In this final, seventh installment of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling unveils in spectactular fashion the answers to the many questions that have been so eagerly awaited. The spellbinding, richly woven narrative, which plunges, twists and turns at a breathtaking pace, confirms the author as a mistress of storytelling, whose books will be read, reread and read again.

EEP!!! Thanks for the link, smitty! Hope the trio make it out alive :)

Just went to the CoS forums, looks like there was a huge leak of some sort already (not sure if fake or not though...)

All,

The Spoiler Policy got its first major test today as we banned a member for posting what could be considered a major spoiler concerning the outcome of events in the final book.

Thanks to one member reporting the post we were able to deal with it relatively quickly. Please remember to report any posts concerning spoilers and we will handle it as quickly as possible.

For any new members reading this. Please note that CoS Forums is a Spoiler-Free Forum. Anything revealed by anyone other than official sources (see policy) will be treated as a ban-worthy offense.

Thank you,

Morgoth.

Sounds like soap opera drivel to me... do all the potter stories have the exact same underlying formula and timeline?

Kinda, Harry goes to Hogwarts to start a new year, evil lurks and threatens him, Harry fights evil, nearly loses, wins (thus far, mostly by sheer luck), goes back home.

This year might be different, as Hogwarts may very well be closed, Dumbledore is gone, and Harry must go to god-knows-where to destroy Horcruxes (pieces of Voldemort's soul). But who knows :P

The wiki article on the book has alot of "possible" things that might happen in the book : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Potter_and_the_Deathly_Hallows

I think I see skulls in the back cover's clouds but I can't tell from this so I can only hope some clever illustrator put imagery in there like The Little Mermaid artwork.

smooshie: Love the Slytherin locket cover, wonder what the other Horcruxes are...

In the UK kids edition (SherKhan's pic), it looks like Gryfyndor's sword in Ron's left hand.

Yep, I think that there is a skull-looking cloud there, nice catch!

In the UK kids edition (SherKhan's pic), it looks like Gryfyndor's sword in Ron's left hand.

I don't think Ron has grey hands. Maybe a house-elf or goblin?

Could be, on further inspection. The treasure has a helmet and chestpiece belonging to a suit of armor. Looks like a Gryffin on the helmet.

2007-03-28 12:04:52 PM
And in the US cover, Harry is wearing a locket or something on his neck (the one pictured in the UK version?)

His scar is obviously the last one.

It looks like Stargate HP-1.
I'm sure Samantha Carter can save the day at the last minute.

On the "very adult" cover Harry is nude and farking a horse.

Which is a bit of a shock; normally it's the other way around.

Haven't read a single page.

Yikes, that UK cover reminds of a bad acid trip from back in the 70's.

Submitter: nicely done. Great farkin' headline.

The adult cover looks moderately cool. The rest of them range from "meh" to "retarded".

I'll be buying it and reading it ASAP. They're fun book.

2007-03-28 01:16:25 PM
I'm psyched it's an orange color theme for the American version.
They had mostly green for Goblet, blue for Phoenix, then green again for Prince. I told my fiance I'd be in heaven if they picked orange for Deathly Hallows. Awesome.

/yes, I'm pathetic.

2007-03-28 01:18:44 PM
i hope rugbyjock doesn't get ahold of the back cover. that being said, it's going to be kinda hard to follow the movie when it finally comes out and harry potter is a bald man in his 40's. but i'll finally be able to say that i'd like to throw a shot into hermione (who makes me hermorny) and not sound creepy.

2007-03-28 01:19:19 PM
Not to spoil it or anything, but I think in this book Greystache activates his Greystache power, defeats the villain, and drives off in a camaro.

2007-03-28 01:19:22 PM
Gryfyndor's sword in Ron's left hand

I would rather see a pic of Hermione holding Harry's sword and swallowing Ron's sword at the same time. Now that is entertainment!

2007-03-28 01:20:08 PM
Does the adult version have adult content?

2007-03-28 01:20:10 PM
When Levine admitted he "sobbed and sobbed" while reading the book, Vieira made a valiant-but-failed final effort to get Levine to disclose whether Harry Potter is finally done in by Lord Voldemort.

"That means someone we like dies, doesn't it?" Vieira prodded.

"Well, it means it is a very, very emotional book," Levine said.

Eep.

Nope, you'll still sound creepy.

Actually if you look at the clouds, it appears to be two faces, Harry's mom? and Dumbledore? Maybe I'm just high. Towelie rules!

no hermione pics yet? is this, or is this not, Fark.com?

The spoiler must have been about Vigorous Buggery, the new Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher.

2007-03-28 01:24:28 PM
Did they have "adult cover" versions of the other books? That's really funny that they felt it necessary to do that. Can anyone think of any other books that have had "adult" and "childrens" versions of the same book? (bible exluded)

/would not pay extra for the adult cover, if i was into HP books.

2007-03-28 01:26:38 PM
umm it says that the American cover is a wraparound for the first time haven't they always been that way?

I don't know if it's intended to be childrens vs adults covers, but the Discworld series from Terry Pratchett tends to come in two varieties. Normal colorful paperbacks, and black-with-minimalistic-gray-art paperbacks that has slightly larger printing.

2007-03-28 01:29:28 PM
Bah. Let me know when Hermione and the Boners of Doom is going to hit the shelves.

2007-03-28 01:29:59 PM
Huh. To me, the big cloud mass on the left looks like Homer Simpson, and the smaller cloud just right of the moon looks like the Starship Enterprise. Then there's the obligatory penis tower on Hogwarts. Did Disney Studios have a hand in designing this book cover or something?

There must be a penis tower in there somewhere.

2007-03-28 01:31:03 PM
also kind of sad that well future generations well the books wont be as interesting as a huge part of the attraction that this series has is the mystery behind the books and what will be revealed in the next book... and it has great re readability as far as catching up and guessing things for the future and stuff but i mean after this no one will be able to start reading it without knowing alot about it ruining the fun...

If you look closely you can see a house-elf ducked down behind Harry's right shoulder.
