As long as she was hittable...

And with last year's shower accident still fresh in my mind (That occasion required 22 stitches!), I certainly wasn't going to force the glass.

What a maroon.

On the very unlikely chance he is still in posession of a man-card, he can return it now.

It helps if you're smarter than a shower door.

2007-03-26 01:18:51 PM
Ok, so what would you have done if you'd been in a semi-public shower with a closing door that refused to open, trapping you inside?

//I'm not entirely sure I'd have handled the situation any differently than he did.

2007-03-26 01:19:14 PM
That's what you get for taking a shower in an airport. Almost as bad as showering at a truck stop....almost

A "professional" journalist never becomes part of the story. With the hacks in the media these days, you can't keep their attention-whore asses out of it.

inkling79: "Most worrying and serious, where was that long red alarm cord you see in showers and toilets to summon help ? There was none!"

Echo that "What?" Those alarm cords are only in hospitals, AFAIK.

Just part of the media conspiracy to distract us from Iraq/Iran

*lol* I'm sorry, this is one of the very few stories which actually made me chuckle out loud.

Poor guy (points finger and laughs anyway)

I love his big "DERRRRR!" grin in the picture.

2007-03-26 01:26:24 PM
lol? I'm stupid enough to get stuck inside a shower and am now writing a story about it which will let the entire world know I'm a jackass.

Cartmen34: Ok, so what would you have done if you'd been in a semi-public shower with a closing door that refused to open, trapping you inside?

I would have broken the door (shattered it). Yup. Why not? I mean seriously.

And with last year's shower accident still fresh in my mind (That occasion required 22 stitches!)

I don't know. It was after reading the above words that I start to think that MAYBE the problem wasn't strictly in the shower door.

/who the hell gets stuck twice in the shower?

2007-03-26 01:28:21 PM
Ah yes, a "journalist" and a limp-wristed weenie....but I repeat myself. Anyone want to guess what political party this guy favors?

All this comes down to was "I was scared, something bad might have happened if I tried to fix the situation myself"..

Sounds exactly like how they are covering Iraq/Afghanistan..

/sorry to be a troll
//really despises "journalists"

I thought it was pretty hilarious.

If he'd taken 2 parts shampoo, 1 part conditioner, .5 parts masculine body wash, mixed on his luffa, and then coated the hinges, the resulting chemical reaction would have melted the metal and allowed him to extricate himself without all that embarassment.

Why didn't he turn the shower on and stay warm under the water while he was stuck in there?

No pics?!

What an idiot. He's all enraged and full of what-about-the-elderlys, but I can guarantee he would not give a flying fark about it if it didn't happen to (and embarrass) him.

I would have broken the door (shattered it). Yup. Why not? I mean seriously.

I thought of this... then I assumed the possibility of serious injury and/or being sued by the airline for destruction of property overruled this possibility.

After all, isn't this is how he got the 22 stitches during his last shower incident? I wouldn't want to try and break the glass after getting sliced up the last time I tried it.

Subby here, and I'm well aware that it's their blog. However, when I submitted it it was featured rather prominently on the CNN.com International front page, hence the tagline.

That reads like an Andy Rooney segment... but picture it as an Andy Rooney segment, and you'll lose your lunch.

Ok, maybe I'm on the cheap end of things, but maybe CNN shouldn't be paying for this doofus to stay in hotels with 7-foot glass shower doors if he's this dumb. Maybe he needs to stay at say, a nice Holiday Inn Express with shower curtains.

Perhaps it's also time for this dumbass to just fly coach where there is no option of showering in the lounge, since apparently he's that dumb.

What a moran.

MooseUpNorth Echo that "What?" Those alarm cords are only in hospitals, AFAIK.

They are easy to find across Europe (ive seen them in hotels and apartments).

Unless he was wearing some kind of shower shoes (a possibility in a public shower), then going all John McClane hardly seems like a good idea.

So that's what all that screaming was when I was taking a shiat last week at JFK. Hell, I thought it was just another bad song on the radio by Gwen Stefani.

Well. It was news to him.

Anyone ever see this guy, Richard Quest, on TV? This guy is hyperactive/borderline manic when he's presenting news he's not intimately involved with. I can't imagine what he was like when they rescued him.

/he should leave shower doors open a crack from now on

2007-03-26 02:05:19 PM
Ok, so I RTFA, and I'm not really getting the "OMG, what a stupid dumbass!" comments. For whatever reason, his shower door wouldn't open. It's not like he forgot how to open it. He tried and it was stuck. To those saying they'd break the glass...exactly what would you break it with? A plastic shampoo bottle? A bar of soap? Even if you unscrew the showerhead and use that, your fist is still going to go through the glass, and you'd probably cut yourself up pretty bad. You have no clothes with which to wrap your arm up before breaking the glass. You're standing on a wet, slippery surface which makes it even harder to put any force into the door.

Hell, it took a number of people 10 minutes to open the door from the other side. If you can think of an easy way out of such a situation, let us all know and I'll join you in mocking this guy.
