What? No obvious tag?

The break-up of a marriage, however, has the opposite effect, with women who divorce being 50 percent more likely to develop heart disease in later life than those who stay married.

marriage is an institution made popular by the trauma induced by the holocaust.

So in the 3 years that couples are happy, they have a definite advantage over singles. Then it crashes, got it.

Isn't it a little early for that kind of psychotic rambling?

Those who have a happy marriage are less likely to be ethnically cleansed than singles.

This study was based on an analysis of 400 nurses. So, wouldn't it be more accurate to say:
"Nurses who have a happy marriage beat stress better than singles"

Which makes for a biased sample, particularly with respect to gender.

I'm not saying the hypothesis is wrong, just poorly proven.

Companionship is overrated…I live in my head and I am only a little bat shiat crazy…as apposed to living with someone who is bat shiat crazy and getting very little head.

Sorry all you catholic priests, but maybe an alter boy can help?

Let the Priests get married (like in the Episcopal church), and increase physcology testing/screening for priest candidcates and alter boy molestation may actually decrease...

Let's see the Episcopal church, usually nicknamed Catholic-lite, really doesn't have a huge alter boy molestation following. Hmmm co-incidence?

Theaetetus

The ones who think "Patience" is a misnomer.

Naming your kid "Patience" is a way of reminding yourself to have patience for when the kid is determined to lick the door hinges, or stick her face in the hot radiator, or grab the stereo wires and pull, and the only thing that distracts her from these things is her need to stick her fingers into the cats eyes.

Much like naming your child "Chastity", it's for the gifts she'll bring to your life.

stress management has nothing to do with marital status.

Linoleum_Blownapart: it's for the gifts she'll bring to your life.

Much like naming your children "Damnit," & "Lil' Shiat." Because then you really don't have to think too hard about what their real names are when livid.

Marriage is great, until it isn't. And then it really, really blows.

Got my starter marriage out of the way already, and I'm not even 30. Ah well, at least I'm still youngish.

I want to get it right first time when I get married. Getting to know a new guy takes far too long. Plus now I find out I'll have a heart attack if I make a mistake. I think I'll become a lesbian and go after Portia de Rossi.

"Obvious" tag must be a divorcee.

If there were no benefits to a happy marriage, people wouldn't still be trying to get into them.

Ha! reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:

"My advice to you is to get married. If you find a good wife you'll be happy; if not you'll become a philosopher."

Stressed-out parents ... are making their children unhappy. Fathers' stress levels are a particularly powerful influence...

I don't know about the accuracy of the study, but I can personally vouch for this statement. I started a new job about two months ago and was under quite a bit of stress as I came up to speed. Almost instantly I noticed my kids, all three of them, acting up alot more than usual. Kids definitely feed off parent's stress (or any other emotion for that matter). Kids are an excellent barometer of an adults emotional state/well-being.

Happy marriage here, too. It's difficult sometimes, don't get me wrong. But life is difficult, too, so things are just better if you have someone to plow through it all with you.

Nothing beats the feeling that, no matter what happens, someone has your back.
