FTFA: "But researchers used transparent duct tape. Only later did they learn that the transparent variety does not contain rubber, unlike the better-known, gray duct tape that appeared to be effective in a 2002 study."

Everyone knows you have to use the potato based duct tape to remove the wart.

the best wart remover is the first spit of the morning. wake up and spit on the wart, and it will go away soon enough.

The grey Duct tape can heal the world, if only the world let it.

Also, if you place it over your keyboard and USB ports on your computer, it prevents you from being banninnated by the moderators. Now THAT's magic.

Scientist: Duct tape does not work any better than moleskin. 21% effective.
Bystander: Uh, dude, that's not duct tape.
Scientist: Further studies will be done to...uh...maximize the accuracy of our report. That is all.

duuuhhh... woops
This just in, blanks seem to be less effective at stopping home invaders than live rounds. We'll need more money to look into this strange occurrence.

Does anyone pay attention anymore?

PSA: All you really need is duct tape, and WD-40.

If it moves (and it shouldn't), use the duct tape.

If it doesn't move (and it should), use the WD-40.

I like one of the mottos at stage crew better:

If it doesnt stick, use duct tape (better yet, gaff tape)
If it sticks too much, use WD-40

WD-40 to make things go, and duct-tape to make 'em stop.

Duct tape is like the Force. It has a light side and a dark side and it binds the universe together.

2007-03-20 09:11:00 AM
regular duct tape does cure warts. My oldest son had a few on his foot. After just one week, they were all gone.

2007-03-20 09:14:49 AM
I thought it had worked on mine, but it started coming back so I hit it with Compound W. All gone.

Stupid researchers. they should be fired.

2007-03-20 09:16:56 AM
There is no such thing as transparent duct tape since when people say duct tape, they mean the silver kind. For scientists who are supposed to be smart, they need to use the right kind of tape!

Duct tape is like Wal-Mart. It's good for everything.

2007-03-20 09:21:14 AM
If you have genital warts...does that mean you'd get the Brazilian wax and wart removal taken care of with one roll of tape?

/just typing that made me cringe

The cute chick with coffee: That is disturbing on so many levels!

I didn't think it was particularly disturbing, but it did get a little constricting by the time my chest was covered. Just one of those things to remember: try to keep your chest inflated any time people are wrapping your torso in duct tape.

2007-03-20 09:37:31 AM
It worked for me.

2007-03-20 09:45:26 AM
Worked on my daughter and son. Oh yeah, on their warts too.

2007-03-20 09:47:50 AM
Warts are caused by a virus, so while duct tape might remove the wart, it won't cure them.

2007-03-20 09:53:26 AM
Liquid nitrogen + fillet knife for best results.

2007-03-20 09:54:32 AM
That's a close shave.

When I was stationed in Germany we were playing rugby against some British paratroopers. One our guys got hit so hard it separated part of his rib cage from his sternum. So, he had our medic use duct tape to deal with the separation and he could get back into the match. He later turned down pain killers at the hospital so he could drink with us later.

/tough mofo
//miss rugby
///miss post-rugby drinking too
////extra duct taped slashies///

So let me get this right: An improperly controlled study of the wrong material proves that duct tape doesn't work?

Heresy.

Warts are caused by a virus, so while duct tape might remove the wart, it won't cure them.

Unless, of course, the glue contains a chemical that kills viruses, huh?

Hah! good thing the article doesn't address this.

FTFA

The tape supposedly works by irritating the skin and stimulating the body's immune system to attack the virus that causes warts.

Oh wait...well, er, good thing nobody bothers to read anymore.

I had to use duct tape for a horrid cut on my thumb. Those regular bandages won't stop the bleeding! The duct tape was a good enough kludge so I can go to Walgreens and get liquid bandage.

BTW: Did any Farkettes notice that duct tape is stickier than those pore remover strips?

Transparent duct tape?

Pfffft

The study is worthless. The "mistake" most likely planned by the organizers (undoubtedly manufacturers of some horrid smelling salve) who want to discredit gray duct tape's use.

Transparent is right.

2007-03-20 04:26:02 PM
It does sort of work, I got rid of one that way, but you have to pick at what's left or it will strengthen.

The problem is, the sticky stuff caused me to have heart palpitations.

I was using plain old gray duct tape.
