Is it just me or does the first pic look alot lower then the pic of the slab sitting on the bimmer?

2007-03-19 08:48:14 PM
adragorrrrrntat, that's because the slab hit mostly the rear of the Bimmer and collapsed it more than the front.

Anyway, it looks to be a waste of a 5-series.

Why did subby steal the Weeners on the site for the headline?

So i'd like to know some facts about this story, was it:

A•accidental
B•'accidental-the-boss-showed-up-with-his-brand-new-bmw-just-bought after-downsizing-his-staff-by-6-heads-last-week,' or
D•did they do it on purpose because some douchebag yuppie parked in a no parking zone thinking he could run to the bank real quick and it wouldn't be a problem for anyone?

I'm going with D.

/yes, i know

Hate to mention this, but the BMW wasn't new, that model ran from 1991 to 2000.

untrustworthy: No [SAD] tag?

I must be of a small minority when I think that the best thing you can do to a BMW is crush it...

The driver of that BMW is now in hosptal.
Rooms 435, 436, 437.

When he recovers, they'll mail him home.

Surviving front grill is clearly an E36 3-series. Also, from the turn signals and the pimptastic rear muffler, it was riced (krauted?) out. No loss, sez I.

2007-03-19 11:36:18 PM
That's not a new BMW. It's an e36, which is, currently, two generations old.

2007-03-19 11:38:18 PM
Unpimped zat auto.

Badly Mashed Wheels.

That is one excellent way to silence a subwoofer with at loud muffler... Should be a Hero tag for the crane operator.

Nah, they come flatpacked - you have to assemble it first.

Arbitrator: I must be of a small minority when I think that the best thing you can do to a BMW is crush it...

I was thinking the same thing about a BMW driver. Cars are pretty cool, little over priced, but I'll be damned if half the arseholes in LA who cut me off aren't BMW drivers.

It's funny - i felt that way until last month, when i bought one (a new-ish used one) and, you know what, they're farking awesome cars. sorry.

That BayeMVay didn't get out of the way fast enough.

2007-03-20 12:03:03 AM
Just an E36, no big loss.

Now, if it was an E30 or an E28 (or, forbid, a 2002) then, well, then I'd just have to sit down and cry.

Does Ikea really sell cars? Where's the farking allen (alien?) wrench?

2007-03-20 12:10:49 AM
That car used to be a functional piece of equipment, and now it's not. Beyond that, nothing really happened here.

2007-03-20 12:16:38 AM
Drain the fluids, encase it in acrylic, then display it as modern art.

Could probably buy a dozen more after that sells.

I hope the concrete slab wasn't damaged. That would be a shame.

From what I've seen of the general brickiness of German cars, I'd not be entirely surprised to find out the thing still runs. I was at a junkyard once looking for a few random things while a guy was looking at a totally destroyed-looking Mercedes. One of the junkyard guys snaked his arm through the manged driver's window, turned the key, and it fired right up and ran fine. Was a bit loud since the exhaust was bent up, but it ran.

Wouldn't get anywhere fast, but might be fun all he same.

themeatball: Might be able to salvage the engine...

Albyknow: themeatball- No.
----------------------
Sure they will. I'd even be able to get it started for testing purposes. The engine and transmission most likely survived that. As did the front clip. That car will still go for over $1,000 at a salvage auction. Salvage yard will sell the engine for $900- $2000 depending of yard, condition of engine, and other things, they'll get the same out of the trans, and about $500- $1000 out of the headlights, grille, header panel, and any other front clip bits that are okay.

There was an incident 2 years ago with a concrete slab hitting a BMW. Unfortunately that time, there were people in the car.

At least it was only an e36. At long as it's not my M, I'm happy.
