(M.E.N)   Do you go out a lot without telling anyone where you're going? If so, you can now be reported as a terrorist   (manchestereveningnews.co.uk) divider line 176

the_gospel_of_thomas: bboy: 'One would think that the guy answering the phone will realize that having a dot on your forehead and listening to an iPod does not make you a terrorist. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the norm.'

you believe that?

Why don't you try responding to the posts that dealt with your original argument before starting a new one? I'm curious to hear how you feel about:

Any rebuttal?

the_gospel_of_thomas: you believe that?

Yes. It's the same mentality that causes "zero tolerance" policies in public schools to become such a problem. Common sense seems to be on vacation.

Had England and Europe not sold their souls on the altar of "multiculturalism" this problem would not exist. Seems that they are coming around to reality.

I doubt that, as you say - "One would think that the guy answering the phone will realize that having a dot on your forehead and listening to an iPod does not make you a terrorist. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the norm."

that someone is going to call the police and say "there a guy with a dot on his head!" and they'll arrest him.

Oh, he won't likely be arrested if he's innocent of any wrongdoing, but don't doubt that they'll pull him off the plane and interrogate him. I see stuff like that in the news all the time.

Don't bother. It's TGoT. He never has any rebuttal or responds to anyone but his strawmen. If I didn't think he was 100% serious in what he says, I would give him major thumbs up as one of the best trolls I've ever seen.

This is England. Their government is largely becoming tyrannical.

You should try coming to the US some time. We have the Patriot Act and other assorted oddities. Plus Boston likes to blow shiat up for no good reason.

People are stupid and fearful the whole world over.

I have an old bumper-sticker that says "Don't steal. The government hates competition."

Maybe it should be "Don't terrorize. The government hates competition."

I think Marcus Aurelius, emperor of Rome put it in an appropriate quote in the movie Gladiator: "There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile." (source: imdB)

I used to like Britain. Now they seem completely messed up up there. Cameras everywhere, cops reading your SMS, reporting people with add habits (Britain used to be about having odd eccentric habits).

Okay, I don't even understand that filter-ownage. I did 'ist' and then 'post'. 'Ist' is not 'first'. Huh?

Another good one they left out: "Do you know any terrorists?"

Reminds me of that Twilight Zone "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" where the neighbors all turn against each other because strange things start happening for NO OBVIOUS REASON.

Do you know someone whose car starts for NO OBVIOUS REASON, when everyone else's car won't start? Terrorist!!

* If you work in commercial vehicle hire or sales, has a sale or rental made you suspicious?

* Do you know someone who visits terrorist-related websites?

Do I even need to point out the horrible, horrible repercussions from implementing a policy in which people are reported for such trivial reason such as these.

Old and busted: "Innocent until proven guilty."
New hotness: "We need to verify your innocence."

When the "almanac" scare came out (considered to be used by terrorists to, well, terrorize), I purposefully went and bought a used one for $3, and carried it with me everywhere for 3 weeks, to see if someone would turn me into the DHS.
