""Cavemen" will revolve around three pre-historic men who must battle prejudice as they attempt to live as normal thirtysomethings in modern Atlanta."

So basically they're going to get a few folks from a copple hundred miles south of atlanta and put them on a bus?

2007-03-01 11:46:17 PM
Will it be about a modern stone-age family?

2007-03-01 11:52:38 PM
One joke premise = Success!

2007-03-01 11:55:09 PM
Too bad Phil Hartman isn't alive to make a cameo as Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer.

2007-03-01 11:55:37 PM
It's so dumb it might actually work.

2007-03-01 11:56:37 PM
I spent fifteen minutes on iheartcavemen.com just fuggin' around. Those guys are dicks, man. Kept turning the TV off and getting pissy.

FTFA: Project, from ABC TV Studio, is penned by Joe Lawson, an advertising copywriter who was behind the "Caveman" ads -- as well as other Geico commercials (think the cockney-speaking Geico gecko, and the reality TV spoof "Tiny House").

I wish they turned "Tiny House" into a real series. I really liked that commercial.

2007-03-02 12:07:56 AM
One trick pony.

2007-03-02 12:10:31 AM
First of all, I'm not 100% in love with your tone right now.

2007-03-02 12:22:13 AM
When can we expect the Erin Esurance tv series?

quote, buy, print

I, for one, love the Geico Caveman commercials. So I am pretty stoked about this.

I will completely watch this. I like the commercial of them chatting on the balcony.

I understand there is a high likelihood of suckitude and I understand that this is a ripoff of Phil Hartman's superior Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer. There is just something about the actual guy that plays the main caveman that I can't take my eye off of.

2007-03-02 02:09:22 AM
IF they get the guys from the commercials to be the cavemen, I'd probably watch it. If not... meh.

Poolio: I wish they turned "Tiny House" into a real series. I really liked that commercial.

That was a clever one. Always thought that girl was pretty cute, too. Video (pops): "This is NOT AWESOME!"

A funny commercial just became a crappy sitcom? Forgive me if I'm not jumping up and down....

2007-03-02 06:47:20 AM
I'd watch the Slowskys.

2007-03-02 07:14:10 AM
yeah, i think tiny house premiered in the middle of the ncaa tournament and i saw it about 95 times in three weeks - but i laughed everytime.

best commercial in years.

Some Dumbass:
"So basically they're going to get a few folks from a copple hundred miles south of atlanta and put them on a bus?"

Did no one else see this? Copple?

Extremely Loud Note to all dumbasses who are going to broadly insult people's intelligence: SPELL CORRECTLY IN YOUR farkING POST OR YOU LOOK LIKE A farkING MORON.

And I'm from Michigan. I just find the internet's anti-southern thing annoying.

2007-03-02 07:26:27 AM
I'd probably watch it, as long as there isn't a laugh track.

2007-03-02 07:35:12 AM
Dumbest. Ads. EVAR!

Here's some simple steps to take to become better accepted in society.

Step 1. DON"T LOOK LIKE A HOMELESS BUM.
A. Shave
B. Shower
C. Wash/Cut your hair
D. See a dentist

Eh, sitcoms set in Atlanta never take off.

2007-03-02 08:24:29 AM
Sorry, your honor. I was listening to the magic voices coming out of this strange modern invention!

2007-03-02 08:29:27 AM
I'll have the roast duck with the mango salsa

Actually they'd be better off going North of Atlanta and getting some mountain folk.

Stupid idea for a show, but I love the lead actor in those caveman spots, his characterization is just really really great. Anybody have apicture of what he looks like sans makeup?

And speaking of retreaded ideas, I am old enough to remember watching "it's about time". A NASA space mission accidentally falls thru a crack in time to prehistoric cavemen times. The astronauts must survive in the cavemen's world. Later, they bring the cavemen back with them to our time, and we see the same show from a 180-degree perspective. 1960-something.

I plan to watch it.

I hope that is just an awful attempt at humor.

My friends and I were just talking about how great it would be if they made a show from these commercials. Then we decided that there is only so much you could do before it became tired.

/Will still watch it.
//Thinks it's cool that Atlanta is the setting.
///Lives in Atlanta.
////Will try to get mom a job as caveman groupie.

Nope Imogene Cocoa was in it. I still remember that stupid theme song to this day

Yeah, he really does own that part...

Ah well, at least they didn't make a show about Stephen from Dell...

It's one of the many books that I've started. Eventually, I have to get some damn time to FINISH some ;)

He was great on...Daily Show, I think it was? I always get the guests between him and The Report confused.

The caveman is having a dinner party and you are invited.

That same advertising firm (based in Richmond, VA) just got Walmart as a client.

Prices so low, even a cave man could afford them?
DrunkJack: And what you don't realize, is that no matter how stupid we actualy are, we still think we're better than you (I mean the royal "you"). Doesn't that just get your goat?!

/Oh, we've also got an anti mid-west and northern mid-west bias, too.
//And we're coming for you! : )

There is absolutely, positively no way this show can be successful.

Sitcoms based on a singular joke last maybe 13 episodes. Hell, the commercials are already annoyingly repeatative.

Let's break down the word Sitcom - Situation Comedy. Likable characters are put into strange situations with comedic results.

The key is CHARACTERS. Sitcoms need to be about the characters first, the situations/jokes second.

Much more possiblities there than the caveman idea.

I think the caveman show is pretty much aimed at getting reruns on Lifetime and Logo...
