Hope they nab the bastard. Leaving scene of accident, stolen vehicle...maybe they can find some other charges, too.

He did it again? Man, that guy keeps getting in accidents and taking off with the victim's car. He did it a few days ago--I didn't think he'd try again so soon.

I even read about it on Fark a few days ago...

Oh... Never mind.

Repeats suck!
Was he driving the getway car for 13 yr old porn thief.

I think we should have a fark vote on articles most likely to be repeated.

I vote for the women having to put up thier sexual history.

"Bad Deeds Going Unpunished," not "Good."

Right?

Right?

2-1 says this guy does more time than the Tyco guy

Hey, I submitted this but I was sick yesterday. Believe it or not a day or two goes by that I dont get a chance to check out FARK. I just heard about it today cause the guy was on the radio saying he wished that no one found his car so he could have gotten a new one. Before I submit a link I'll do a double check. But hey...blame the mods, they knew better!

2002-08-07 03:57:40 PM
I'm still confused by "no good deed goes unpunished" from the 9/11 atm scam, and I get hit with it again?

2002-08-07 03:59:26 PM
Troll up for adoption? All ready got one, thankyou anyways.

2002-08-07 04:02:12 PM
He's lucky they only stole his car.. Ever seen Henry, Portait of a Serial Killer? Never stop to help!

2002-08-07 04:05:18 PM
The "No good deed goes unpunished" saying is attributed to Clare Luce Booth. Basically, it means that for every good thing you do, there is someone there who is ready, willing and able to take advantage of you (typically to your detriment). It's the polar opposite of "What goes around, comes around" or Karma.

Um, repeats are bad enough, but at least make the headline (and the tag!) make sense, PUH-LEEEZE..

2002-08-07 04:12:30 PM
Where's that REPEAT tag? (looks left, right, left, right, shoves papers off desk, knocks over coffee) I know it's here somewhere...

2002-08-07 04:17:50 PM
I think I've had enough repeated posts saying that this story was a repeat. Besides that phrase "no bad deeds go unpunished", there's another popular misquote that pains me: "Oh! The inhumanity (of it all)!". People will usually say erroneously "Oh! the humanity!" in response to a horrible situation.

2002-08-07 04:20:31 PM

In other news, In the middle of FARKistan someone has stolen the repeat tag!

"We don't know where it went... so we decided to post this lame story about a stolen car again."

"I hope you've learned your lesson. Never help anyone."

"You tried your best and failed miserably. The lesson is: Never try."

"Trying is the first step towards failure."

"Oh! the humanity!"
is a quote from the live radio broadcast of the Hindenburg disaster. Not erroneous at all.

Whew. For a second there, I was afraid that the Millenium Honda del Sol had been victimized. That would have been tragic.

2002-08-07 05:34:06 PM
So, has anyone noticed a MARKED increase in repeats since the post a couple days back saying "Hey, cut us some slack. There are four of us and thousands of submissions so sometimes they get repeated!"

2002-08-07 06:17:57 PM
At the risk of, erm, repeating what others have said (sorry):

Muck1969, you better get used to pain, because both "no good deed goes unpunished" and "Oh, the humanity" are absolutely legitimate quotes.

Just please, please, for the love of Jebus, don't reply with "I could care less". It's couldn't dammit! As in I COULD NOT care less!! Aaaaarrrgggghh!! :-P

Shouldn't that period be inside the quote?

Tomo12144: The mods know better - they know about items #6 and #21 from the FArQ which explains the following:

1) Why repeats sometimes occur

2) The difference between a mod and an admin

The mods get a lot of bashing not only for doing what they're supposed to be doing, but also being blamed for things they have no control over. Lately, the mod-bashing has maybe gotten a bit out of control.

2002-08-07 07:34:49 PM
The headline makes no sense whatsover and serves no purpose other than to hurt your brain trying to comprehend the writer's illiteracy.

2002-08-07 08:24:11 PM
Bluefrogprince: Actually, it IS "I could care less." if you say it with sarcasm. ;)

As those two men worked on the victim, Morris said he walked back up the bank to the highway and noticed: "My car is gone. Basically, I was in shock. How could that happen?"

You left the keys in the ignition, dumbass.

Sigh...this reminds me of that story from the other day about the bank that let people make unlimited withdrawals from ATMs. If you don't exercise due diligence, don't expect any sympathy from me.
