I'd prefer to be in a cemetary where nobody knows me, and the kids kept off the damn lawn.

/It's supposed to be 'eternal rest' damnit.

If you are cremated, you don't have to be stuck in a cemetery. You can sit right above the fireplace!

I think that someone needs to explain the concept of "Death" to this lady.

What's the point? She's dead.

I bet cremation hurts like hell.

In the article, it's a county magistrate that has her panties in a bunch over the whole thing, because the lady in question died with no family.

Grandmas ashes dun got lonely!

I meant what is the point of explaining it to the dead chick.

It gets lonely in the morgue at night, and there's only so many times you can fark a dead body before you start getting 'attached'...

or they start to become detached.

Gives a new meaning to "having a tough breakup," now, don't it?

I really don't want to die alone. That being said I'm not understanding the whole sticking her with people she doesn't know..I'm sorry I thought she was dead and turned into ashes...silly me.

Bella_girl: I really don't want to die alone.

Me neither. I want to die with family and friends, like Uncle Frank did when he fell asleep at the wheel.

2007-02-28 02:29:14 PM
I think someone had a better idea later in the article: "She would help feed a client." I mean, she's fully cooked and they've kept her frozen since the fire.

2007-02-28 02:31:43 PM
yeah, the other cemetary people will be all like, "hey n00B!!!" and pants her and stack empty beer cans on her grave so when she opens it up they all fall on her.

but then she'll meet this mysterious loner ghost who just moved from california and teaches them all how to skateboard.

Bella_girl: I really don't want to die alone.

We all die alone--there isn't anyone else inside our bodies when our senses fail, in the instant before the brain goes dark entirely.

If you've lived your life fully, though, then you'll have nothing to worry about--no discontent, no worry; it'll be nothing but laying down to rest after a long day's work.

So why worry? Death comes to all of us, but that doesn't matter--what we do when we're alive matters.

"FTFA:
"When you die and you don't have any relatives, they just kick you to the side," Fouty said. "And now she's frozen. That just makes me cringe. That's not what she wanted at all. I'm just scared to death they're going to cremate her and stick her in a cemetery where she doesn't know anyone."

Williams-Martin was born Feb. 4, 1931, in Nitro."

WEll, NO WONDER she's frozen, she was BORN in Nitro.

/don't care how i die, as long as it's quick, and i don't have time to think about it.

I was hoping to see those things from "Ghost" come after me when I die.

This is one of those "hot buttons" with me. Rather, the way modern society deals with death.

People die every day, there is no reason to be selfish.

-1 for the Reader's Digest version of a very funny joke!

"Williams-Martin had only one brother and he was mentally retarded, Fouty said. He died in 2004.

Lester remembers only one person attended his funeral and he left before she had a chance to meet him."

That kinda weirded me out.

I'm not sure if it was an old Twilight Zone or Tales from the Crypt episode, but there was at least one story about a guy who could still see/hear/feel after he died. It was rather amusing. The dead guy was also made to look like Humphrey Bogart, so every time there was a reflection, it was Bogart. Very clever.

Does anyone remember this? Or is the crack starting to get to me?

Wait, what was my point? Oh. Maybe she will be lonely after all.

On the other hand, no. She is dead and does not care.

/I gets me brain medicine from the National Health!

I've seen your profile pics; chances of you dying alone, zero.

Actually, dying in a dream like state would be more peaceful, I would think. A typical experience on LSD is feeling overwhelmed by all of the beauty in surroundings.

Considering I couldn't give a damn about my remains, I can still kind of see her point. Yes, the dead woman doesn't give a damn about it. But respect for the dead should be given to ALL dead, not just the rich ones or the ones who have friends in living places. A society can be measured by how it treats its least members, and who's less than a dead guy? I don't mean grassy acres and fanfare, but a nice pot somewhere in a shady cemetary near her home town isn't too much to ask for. Perhaps if we started treating the dead with a little respect, we might learn to treat the elderly, the young, and eveventually each other with a little respect.

/Actually serious about this

Not From the CIA

I remember that!!! I'm pretty sure it was Tales from the Crypt...

all I remember is some guys looking down at him in a hotel or something.

I don't want to die alone , either. As I go, I want to have the presence of mind to say ,"The money...is in...the gaahh..." and then die. One last chance to mess with people would be a lovely thing.

Had a funny conversation like this with someone:

Them: I don't want to be buried.
Me: Why?
Them: I dunno...I don't want worms to eat me.
Me: Why does it matter?
Them: I'll look gross, I guess.

Sigh. Death is, apparently, a hard fact to grasp.

Contrary to popular belief its not all about cartoons, and madness. Its actually a very grounding experience.

Something that most people who use LSD and other hallucinogens don't know is that all of these things can be experienced WITHOUT using drugs.

I disagree. It just opens your eyes to the fact that the world is entirely subjective. You view through your minds eye, not your physical one.

Most LSD users I have ever talked to understand this intuitively. There is nothing in a trip that wasn't "there" in your mind and under your ability to begin with.

The real joke goes like this:

"When I die, I want to go peacefully, in my sleep, like my grandfather did. Not screaming and crying like the passengers in his car."

Analyzing my shroom experiences I can vouch for this, negating the actual hallucinations of course. Trips take me through extreme highs and lows, but none of it is new--just amplified.
