Look, does Memri have an agenda? Sure. And that agenda is? To provide translations of what the Arab World (yes, including non-Arab Muslims) say to each other on TV, in the press, and so on to non-locals. They don't have to make the stupidity up, it just happens there naturally.

That's the point I knew the subtitling was correct, because of the wise-ass look he gets on his face when he says the equivalent of "ass."

Mouse as the hero = America's tradition of favoring the underdog. We started out as the little guy and it's a big part of our culture.

Tom and Jerry often did annoy me in that Jerry was frequently the one instigating the conflict and would win anyway. It made him seem cruel. Plus the black female character now seems racist in retrospect.

Is the whole "Dirty Mouse" thing even a real term? Before today, Art Spiegelman's Maus was the only instance I'd seen of using mice to refer to Jews. There I assumed it was just an artistic conceit used to show how the Jews were hunted down.
