(Miami Herald)   Fuzzy Zoeller wasn't a bear, Fuzzy Zoeller had some hair. Fuzzy Zoeller wasn't all fuzzy with his Wikipedia entry so he sued the IP address that typed in the information. Hilarity ensued   (miami.com) divider line 135

Zoeller's identity was concealed in the suit to protect his privacy and prevent further harm, his attorney said.

While I'm glad he got it right in not trying to go after Wikipedia, can you really sue someone because they deface Wikipedia?

It was disclaimed that no information on Wiki is guarenteed accurate, so although aggrivating and completely useless towards the purpose Wikipedia is striving for, wouldn't doing such a thing actually fall within the parameter fo information on the Wiki not guarenteed to be accurate/real?

2007-02-22 09:02:27 AM
I guess someone wants some attention. Who sues about something like that? Besides your famous buudy you have less of a chance to prove defamatory than lets say the average person. But hope that works out for you because I think the rest of the world thinks you might be a jerk.

Tiger Woods wanted for questioning.

2007-02-22 09:05:24 AM
Most farkers probably don't remember, but much like Jimmy the Greek Fuzzy Zoeller ruined his career by making racist comments.

I suspect the specific information he contests involves that.

/Didn't help his case when he called Tiger Woods "that little BOY"

so people can sue message boards. does this mean if someone on fark doesn't like the article i submit i can sue fark or fark's ip address, since they are obviously responsible for the postings of its users?

wasn't there a bloom county cartoon that taught the lesson to never sue poor people? someone has to remember that one.

2007-02-22 09:06:35 AM
Meanwhile, Sheftall said the damage is spreading. The false statements also appear on the website Answers.com. He's concerned that additional publicity could cost Zoeller endorsements.

Yeah, because right now Fuzzy "Collard Greens" Zoeller has the sort of squeaky clean image that advertisers are lining up to sign.

2007-02-22 09:06:57 AM
Well, if someone created an encyclopedia entry about me that said I was a drunken wife- and child-beater, I'd be pretty upset too. Doubt I'd sue some random company where the information originated (probably from some bored intern who thought he heard something somewhere), but I'm not the litigious type.

Excuse me while I wip this out.

fruitloop: wasn't there a bloom county cartoon that taught the lesson to never sue poor people? someone has to remember that one.

I think it was the one about Steve Dallas after he got his ass kicked by Sean Penn for taking a picture of him. He was considering suing Sean, but he was a psycho, and then Madonna, but decided against it, and then Opus, but he was poor, so he ended up suing Nikon or something.

2007-02-22 09:08:31 AM
Zoeller was rumoured to have compelled two women to show their breasts to a gorilla, or something.

Correct. Never sue poor people, they have no money; never sue celebrities, juries love them. Suing a large corporation with gobs of disposable cash? God bless America! *flag waving*

That's all I can remember.

2007-02-22 09:13:33 AM
Hmmm...I can't seem to find the info on the history page (based on what TFA said). Maybe I should've checked Wipipedia instead.

2007-02-22 09:13:51 AM
Fuzzy Zoeller is a racist, homosexual, child-raping, seal-clubber. He's also the anti-christ and he helped plan the 9/11 terrorist attack. This is all true.

2007-02-22 09:15:14 AM

I wonder if this may be the material in question:

Zoeller is also notable for endorsing the Prosthipenis, a penile prosthetic for men whose genitals have been irreparably damaged, saying "it really turned my life around, I feel like a man again for the first time since that awful belt-sander accident".

LOL

This is now on the Wikipedia page:

"Zoeller is also notable for endorsing the Prosthipenis, a penile prosthetic for men whose genitals have been irreparably damaged, saying "it really turned my life around, I feel like a man again for the first time since that awful belt-sander accident"."

Uhhh...

2007-02-22 09:16:22 AM
The article says that the misinformation also appears on Answers.com. Isn't Answers just another spot to find the exact same articles you'd find on wikipedia? It's not like the misinformation is spreading. It just appeared on Wikipedia and the corresponding Answers article. No legitimate source would actually cite one of those two sites.

2007-02-22 09:17:10 AM
Well, since this is the Internetz, I'll paste and repeat some of what I found on Fuzzy Zoeller's Wiki entry on this date. Didn't find any "drug" references. Just some bigoted cracker so-called "wit", and uniquely redundant writing.

Hey, it was another Damien who left the offensive content...go figure.

Fark does better with greenlights than Wiki.

"Zoeller, always known for his humorous locker room humor and appetite for having fun, was voted the 1985 winner of the Bob Jones Award, the highest honor given by the United States Golf Association in recognition of outstanding sportsmanship. However, he is also known for having made controversial remarks regarding Tiger Woods during the 1997 Masters tournament. With his usual cocktail in hand, Zoeller made the remarks after finishing his final Masters round, a poor 78 that placed him in a tie for 34th in the final standings.[1]
Zoeller's comments at the Masters were: "That little boy is driving well and he's putting well. He's doing everything it takes to win. So, you know what you guys do when he gets in here? You pat him on the back and say congratulations and enjoy it and tell him not to serve fried chicken next year. Got it?"
Then Zoeller smiled, snapped his fingers, and walked away. Then he turned and added, "or collard greens or whatever the hell they serve." In reference to the food, Zoeller was referring to the following year's Master's Club Champion's Dinner. The defending champion selects the menu. Incidentally, Woods chose cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, french fries and milkshakes for the Champion's Dinner the following year."

I'm feelin' all warm an Fuzzy!

There is a wipipedia and its a fetish site, no match for Fuzzy Zoeller in it however, must be wikipedea as stated in the article. Damn was looking forward to what else would have been said about him in a BDSM site.

Ah Wikipedia, the philosophy of Creative Anti-realism in action. The place where anyone can say anything, but then it is subject to be corrected by others. There is no truth, just consensus. If everyone agrees that a Wikipedia page is correct it suddenly becomes true even if it isn't.

People wonder why we have holocaust deniers. This philosophy of a consensus of reality without truth being involved means that a country like Iran can simply deny the holocaust and for them it is true. Truth isn't about reality then, it is culture against culture, not truth against falsity. So who's culture is right? Multiculturalism says no culture is better, just very different.

Sweet post-modernism, you living in a reality of smoke and mirrors so easy and fun.

Josef Silny - www.jsilny.com - resolves to 208.204.187.19

WHOIS gives range between 208.204.187.0 - 255 for jsilny.com.

No-one on the Wikipedia history page is identified solely by an IP address in that range. None of the named contributors seem to be based in Florida, which would be a hell of a walk to Silny's offices in Miami every morning for work.

Zoeller appears to be an arsehole anyway, it's only disappointing that Woods doesn't get to show him up more often.

2007-02-22 09:19:36 AM
Can anyone tell me why saying that black people like to eat fried chicken is racist?

Seriously. I've never understood it.

OMF! Sorry to hog the thread, but:

"Zoeller is also notable for endorsing the Prosthipenis, a penile prosthetic for men whose genitals have been irreparably damaged, saying "it really turned my life around, I feel like a man again for the first time since that awful belt-sander accident".

But he's not going to sue over this... Man Whore-ishness on his part being repeated. Tasteful and restrained is he.

I'm assuming Zoellers' wikipedia entry has now been properly updated to reflect this bogus lawsuit.

Do you farkers have nothing better to do than to make fun of grammar and spelling? A man has been defamed here for Christ sake. Worse than that, his identity was revealed. Please show the family some respect and compassion, thx
