It is nice to see that Corey Haim and Corey Feldman found some work.

"Mama, don't take my Vodafone away.."

I'm truly very sorry, indeed...

2002-08-05 12:20:28 PM
Naked people are always just so damn funny... it's amazing, yet I still laugh my arse off everytime I read of a streaker. Long live the naked people!!!

2002-08-05 12:21:44 PM
in Lexington KY, streakers are clothed and spectators aren't? I don't think that's right and a little to long.

2002-08-05 12:21:54 PM
STREAKERS ROCK!!!!!

2002-08-05 12:22:22 PM

2002-08-05 12:23:15 PM
ahh, who cares... it's a british story. never heard of vodaphone anyway.

2002-08-05 12:23:42 PM
This gives me an idea of strating my own ad agency. I just put company logos on naked people and have them walk around busy places all day.

2002-08-05 12:24:57 PM

oops, i submitted this one, i'm easily confused...

"Vodafone's Australian managing director Grahame Maher said he took a call from "a guy called Brett" last week who asked if the company would back a publicity stunt, but did not give details."

Ok, and we'll send you a signed blank check, and you go ahead an fill in the amount.

Tangent1138:

It's a British story? Well Vodafone (not 'Vodaphone')is the WORLD's biggest mobile phone company, it bought out the US firm Airtouch a couple of years ago. But the story is actually Australian as that is where the streaking at the rugby game happened. Come on pal don't reinforce the stereotyped European view of ignorant yanks wih an isolationist world view... ;-)

2002-08-05 12:30:41 PM
"This is not what we wanted to happen, this is not the outcome we expected," Maher, who is well known for his publicity stunts, told the Ten Network.

LIAR!!! He knew all along!!! :-)

2002-08-05 12:30:41 PM
I think we should have more streaking in the US.... only problem w/ that tho... quality control...

2002-08-05 12:31:39 PM
Can you hear me NOW?

2002-08-05 12:32:08 PM
Tangent1138:aah, who cares... Britain, Australia, what's the bloody difference? If it didn't happen to an American company in America, it didn't happen.

2002-08-05 12:32:35 PM
PJ:

I'm fine with everything you said but what is this "European" and "world" thing you speak of?

Macheath:
Well said cobber! At leat we haven't got into a flame war about the relative merits of American football / soccer (I mean REAL football) / rugby union / rugby league / Aussie rules...

2002-08-05 12:34:55 PM
You mean those plum-smuggling speedo wearing wrinkled old European geezers with their topless-but-shouldn't-be women? Don't reinforse THEIR stereotyped view?

Irascible:

Just meaning the equally wrong view that some of my fellow (more pompous) Europeans think ALL Americans are only interested in 'what plays in Peoria.' Just trying to do my best for transatlantic understanding...

ROFL @ Irascible

2002-08-05 12:38:51 PM
Glad you cleared that up, because I base all my personal decisions on the opinions of Pompous Europeans, you know.

Vodka also encourages streakers

2002-08-05 12:46:44 PM
FLA Chickie

2002-08-05 12:48:56 PM

" Macheath:

exactly. well said.

Best thing an American ever asked me - 'So, what are you doing for Independence Day?' - err, going to work?

The other time was some guy arguing that I didn't have a day off work, because the holiday wasn't American...

Bless you all. Right until you're all killed. :)

2002-08-05 01:44:58 PM
I guess I'll buy a vodafone now, cause I saw a naked guy.

2002-08-05 01:49:00 PM
The team is called the New Zealand All Blacks?

We have a team like that in the US. It is called the Detroit Pistons.

2002-08-05 01:55:43 PM
DjArcas: well on independence day, I'm lamenting the historic defeat of our redcoats and the loss of the American colonies to a bunch of terrorists and their stinking French co-conspirators.

2002-08-05 01:56:14 PM
DJArcas:
Don't you want to bless us even after we are dead?
We will need it more then.

2002-08-05 02:20:47 PM
That streaker should have fell on his back, legs up in the air and over the cops shoulders, that would make a much more funny picture and the cop would never live it down. No kissing tho.

To all British farkers:

So sorry about our seemingly endless supply of idiots. One of the drawbacks of the United States being the masters of the globe is having to put up with our Great Unwashed. Everyone else had to put up with your yobs back when the U.K. was the great power. Now, unfortunately, you have to put up with ours.

2002-08-05 02:35:18 PM
Damn, everytime I read "Vodafone" I always see it as "Vodkafone".

Vodka in a phone..hell yeah that sounds like a good idea.

Fill 'er up with some Stolichnaya when ya gotta call the woman.

2002-08-05 02:38:58 PM
Macheath, DRW, et al:
I was being SARCASTIC from the very beginning. get a farking clue, especially you DRW. "Great unwashed". Pfft. Like you're so sophisticated. You're on Fark, jackass.

as to DjArcas ("Bless you all. Right until you're all killed. :)" Yeah, you're right, we should never have done that whole "saving your ass" thing in WW2. Glad my Grandfather got shot up at Omaha Beach for you wankers.

2002-08-05 02:51:37 PM
I don't think you should be so sarcastic. We Australians are VERY sensitive about our complete and all pervading irrelevance in the world. Public nudity is all we have left. That and the concentration camps in the desert.

I think I'm going to cry.

Here's something that we may be overlooking...
"The streakers crashed the game just as a New Zealand All Blacks player was preparing to take a crucial penalty kick, which he missed when play resumed. Australia won 16-14 to retain the Bledisloe Cup. "

I assume the Bledisloe Cup is very important to New Zealand and Australian soccer fans. Imagine if streakers jumped on the field right before a crucial field goal and the kicker missed, in either the NFC or AFC championship, or even the Super Bowl. Then you find out the streakers had ties to either one of the cities in the game or to the sponsors? It would make the hubub over last years New England-Oakland game seem small in comparison.
They interfered with the game, who cares if they were naked or not, they shouldn't have been out there, period. Especially at such a crucial point in the game....

2002-08-05 03:05:38 PM
Kurmudgeon:EXACTLY, imagine if some streaker ran onto the pitchers mound at the Super Bowl.

"08-05-02 03:05:38 PM Macheath
Kurmudgeon:EXACTLY, imagine if some streaker ran onto the pitchers mound at the Super Bowl. "
Why yes, I can just imagine that, I would like to see it in fact! It would still be a disruption though! ; )

Sorry Macheath but that would be the kick-off during the World Series. Which probably won't happen this year due to the threatened strike of basketball players against the Teamsters Union. Or shiat to that effect...

08-05-02 03:05:38 PM Macheath
Kurmudgeon:EXACTLY, imagine if some streaker ran onto the pitchers mound at the Super Bowl.

I really hope you are kidding.

2002-08-05 03:38:02 PM
The nature of the Bledisloe Cup is the key to my tangled web of pointless sarcasm and nonsense.

Do we know if Tiger Woods is going to be in the Kentucky Derby this year?

2002-08-05 03:42:39 PM
Does the streaker in the first photo in this thread look like a Jim Bruer (SNL Alumnus) character, or is it just me?

(Looked but couldn't find a decent photo of him to post here, sorry.)

2002-08-05 03:45:18 PM
Show of hands, how many of you hit the crack rock this morning? :>

Tangent1138: America is the world's great power. You, on the other hand, are nodody. You're the guy who has to keep reminding people that he lives in a decent neighbourhood, that he makes $X/pa, that his wife still has all of her front teeth, etc. to keep up that fragile illusion of personal superiority that gets you through your essentially meaningless existence.

Please, accept my congratulations for continuing to be You. It's a wonderful achievement, not having killed yourself yet, when most others would have.

In conclusion: At a time when 90% of the world is plotting to bring America to its knees, idiots like you devote your energy to alienating the few friends you have left. Nice.

2002-08-05 04:57:26 PM
what is it with england and streakers ???

2002-08-05 05:31:54 PM
boyd,

it was a JOKE. didn't you read my other post where i said it was a joke? jesus, get over yourself. "...to keep up that fragile illusion of personal superiority that gets you through your essentially meaningless existence". wow. i mean... wow. you really need to get some therapy.

and 90%? nah, more like 95%. of course, with us out of the way there's nothing to stop 1 billion screaming china-men from invading australia and new zealand. good luck with that.

Amazing how Americans can be so blase about such a serious rift between their close allies!!

On reflection though, I'd rather have corporations that sponsor streakers than ones such as Enron and WorldCom that demolish your financial security!!

It was a rugby union game not football/soccer, but then Yanks probably can't name who won the World Cup. What?!
Explanation of World Cup: A competition where NATIONS compete for a sporting title NOT business franchises. Answer: Brazil.

Good luck with George Bush.
