It kind of looks like a street lamp.

Anyone agree?

You're all so gullible. It's a UFO disguised as a streetlight.

just in case you missed it.

Good morning, Farkistan.

Thanks to those of you who are supporting me.

I just added some more pictures to the gallery.
I took pictures of all four streetlights that are visible from the balcony.
I compared pics of the farthest streetlight and the object, and whoops, they match.

So, I guess it is time to admit...

I am an idiot.

There should be a reverse filter for morans trying to get in a last post.
2007-02-22 05:16:56 PM

It would have been way better if he had never admitted that he was wrong.
2007-02-22 06:41:34 PM
Has anyone suggested that this may be a streetlight?
2007-02-22 07:00:44 PM

2007-02-22 09:42:47 PM
I've been away far too long! Totally forgot how entertaining the threads could be.

Now can someone please explain the cow references? :)

Since you guys were so helpful on this streetlight deal. I was wondering if you could tell me what color this is.

"this", as used in your sentence, is black. It's a streetlight.
2007-02-22 11:56:16 PM

"That's one small step for a man, one giant leap (of logic) for a streetlight."
2007-02-23 12:30:06 AM
thread alone worth the $5
2007-02-23 12:31:14 AM

"that's no moon."

maybe it's a ........STREETLIGHT
2007-02-23 01:29:10 AM
Just thought I'd jump in at the last minute (or hour, or day) of this thread and suggest the possibility that the object in question bears a striking resemblance to one of the things beside the road that light up at night.

Nah, just wanted to say that I was there for the great streetlight thread of '07.
2007-02-23 06:33:48 AM
I'm so glad this thread was streetlighted. I mean, greenlighted of course...

Way up on old Linville Mountain
Where the bear and the catamount reign
A strange ghostly light appears every night
Which no scientist or hunter can explain.

In the days of the old covered wagon
When they camped on the flats for the night
With the moon shinin' dim o'er the old canyon rim
They watched for that brown mountain light.

High on the mountain
And down in the valley below
It shines like the crown of an angel
And fades as the mists come and go

Way over yonder
Night after night until dawn
A faithful old slave comes back from the grave
Is searching for his master who's long gone.

Many years ago a southern planter
Came huntin' in this wide world alone
Then so they say the hunter lost his way
And never returned to his home.

His trusting ol' slave brought a lantern
And searched but in vain day and night
Now the ol' slave is gone
but his spirit lingers on

And the lantern it still casts it's light.

I'm glad to hear it actually was a streetlight. I was also surprised to see my dead cat referenced earlier in the thread, especially since Mitz never liked streetlights when he was alive.

If it's any consolation, you made an enjoyable thread that a lot of people got a kick out of. I hope you aren't being bombarded with hate mail or anything- this was just down-home funny stuff. I'm laughing with you, not at you.
2007-02-25 03:30:14 PM
So THAT'S not a streetlight.

It's a reeflight.

Sweet of you to say so.
My t-shirts didn't sell.
I hope yours did.
I should have picked cafepress so I could do it without a markup.

Not so much hate mail.
Just some Italian spammer in my galleries.
Am having to ban IP ranges to get rid of it.

By the way, the guy in the picture got back in the door about a millisecond later and survived.

forked_at_fark: My t-shirts didn't sell.

Meh, I wasn't selling them- those were just mock-ups. I think greening the T-shirt thread was kind of the final nail in the coffin... while you did submit the thread, something tells me it went green for more pot-shots at you. Not unlike adding your username to thread #2 in the saga.

I honestly wish you well and hope you don't take any crap you may have received personally, as this whole pile-on mentality really wasn't deserved.
