silly thread. it's a street light.

No other object has been misidentified as an unidentified flying object more often than the planet Venus. Even the former leader of your United States of America - James Earl Carter, Jr. - thought he saw a UFO once, but it's been proven he only saw the planet Venus. Venus was at it's peak brilliance last night. You probably thought you saw something up in the sky other than Venus, but I assure you... it WAS Venus.

Your scientists have yet to discover how neural networks create self-consciousness, let alone how the human brain processes two-dimensional retinal images into the three-dimensional phenomenon known as perception. Yet you somehow brazenly declare seeing is believing?

... your scientific illiteracy makes me shudder. And I wouldn't flaunt your ignorance by telling anyone that you saw anything last night other than the planet Venus, because if you do... you're a dead man.

Ok, here in austin, texas usa three of us have gone out tonight and confirmed we can see the same thing. They are in fixed locations and when looking at certain angles fluence in under you can match the profile of these lights in the air.

-So they have streetlamps in austin too?

as a brain surgeon and rocket scientist i have three reasons/theories saying it is a streetlight:

There you have it

Ah, the perfect opportunity to recycle the Russian axe chick PS.
2007-02-18 10:46:53 PM
Never Mind, Benjaman36 figured it all out.

Boy oh boy, know dont I just feel foolish.
2007-02-18 10:47:48 PM
thats right i did

it was clear
i just had to point it out
2007-02-18 10:48:07 PM
What's really strange is this UFO's glow is shaped exactly like a street light. I mean seriously, flat at the top and look at the angles of the glow on the bottom. If you put a straight edge and a protractor against them you could match it up with a street light.
2007-02-18 10:49:18 PM
Benjaman36 Thanks that made me bust a gut lol
2007-02-18 10:49:28 PM
clawed: GERMANY

Prospero424 you big anus.

Oh, give me a break. I wasn't going to read this whole stinkin' thread.

Besides, I'm quite sure the Germans have developed this amazingly complex fricken' tethered balloon technology, as well.

/rolls eyes

2007-02-18 10:52:29 PM
this thread is almost as funny as the one where some farker got his nuts stuck in a chair.

/oh yeah, it's a streetlight
2007-02-18 10:53:03 PM
friend49, thanks i am now ultimate.
2007-02-18 10:56:50 PM
jonnoj77: -good guess but it's a street lamp.

the tether wouldn't be perfectly straight.

also it just doesn't look like anything except a streetlamp.

The picture really isn't clear enough to tell whether or not the "tether" is "perfectly" straight.

Nor is it clear enough to tell for sure what the damned thing is at all.

I, for one, can accept the possibility that forked_at_fark may not be lying, as he insists he's not, so I'm suggesting alternatives. You know, other than an alien spaceship, hehehehe.

Besides, I've seen a radar aerostat being operated at night in person, and that picture looks a lot like one.
2007-02-18 10:57:10 PM
forked_at_fark: But, it's still not a farkin streetlight !

"Yes, it is!"
2007-02-18 10:58:31 PM
Benjaman36 You're welcome anytime
2007-02-18 10:58:38 PM
It's a trap.

/don't stop believing, forked.
//hold on to that fee-ee-eeling

2007-02-18 09:55:03 PM jayday

Dont tell me your falling for this whole "proof" and "logical argument" thing too.....
Thats there is just some sorta wacko crazy talk!

Hey! How dare you accuse me of being "logical"! Them's fighting words!

Streetlights at 30 paces, and forked_at_fark will be my second!

I think it might be a light used to light streets.

/so sad I missed this thread.

2007-02-18 11:20:17 PM
forked_at_fark: But, it's still not a farkin streetlight "No, it is not a street lamp.
Not a plane either, because it has been about in the same spot in the sky for awhile"

Um, streetlamps don't move.
2007-02-18 11:23:52 PM
yeah... this is one of my favorite threads.....awesome
2007-02-18 11:24:39 PM
the streetlamp in that photo is not moving.
2007-02-18 11:26:36 PM
Procedural Texture

hdhale was making simply and clearly the point that, whatever it is, it is not an alien spacecraft.
Asserting that it is a streetlight is the most likely explanation, yes, but clearly that if doesn't submitter, and they remain without a explanation.
You earned yourself a month of TF, hdhale.

Thank you for getting my point, and for the TF membership. I'll try not to trash the place too much. :-)
2007-02-18 11:28:07 PM

thanks to DrumCorpsAlum for the idea

2007-02-18 11:33:13 PM
Its a streetlight. Whoever said it was a cieling light is pretty stupid too.
2007-02-18 11:33:32 PM
Procedural Texture: /in winter 1983 I saw a moving light in the sky that was dripping light

That was almost certainly a meteorite.
2007-02-18 11:36:22 PM
It looks a bit like a streetlight. Have you checked out that possibility?
2007-02-18 11:37:23 PM
It resembles a streetlight... has anyone said that yet?
2007-02-18 11:37:52 PM

Procedural Texture: "/in winter 1983 I saw a moving light in the sky that was dripping light"

That was almost certainly a meteorite.

Not until it hits the ground it isn't. Until then it's just a plain ol' meteor ;) ...or UFO...actually, since we can't positively identify it, it is a UFO...just probably of the rocky/iron variety instead of the lasers/anal-probe variety.
2007-02-18 11:42:15 PM
that was almost certainly a rabbit with a pancake on its head... wait, what?
2007-02-18 11:44:01 PM
homerjaythompson: Not until it hits the ground it isn't.

I know; brain fart.
