Is it me or are the "kids" drawings a little to perfect?

The line in the original version is a bit to disciplined for children to my thinking.

Kids' drawings illustrated by professional artists illustrators. FTFY
The drawing by Brian Pelletier really shows off the difference between art and illustration.

2007-02-18 11:01:04 PM

Cool link. That put a smile on my face. It was interesting to see the kids' ideas realized in a more concrete form.

Even kids can strive to produce representational art. They just lack the skills to do it as well as (some) adults.

My 10 year old thinks this is way cool.

Al Jaffe did a similar thing, in 1968. This here posting is crap, crap that took precious timje fro my life that I eill never recover. Al Jaffe is a geniuous, this guy is a dummy-type dude,]. I'm drunk, and trgat's wht makes mew honest.

Considering I drew similar stuff at that age, I think it goes without saying that every one of those kids will grow up to be stressed out 21-year-olds with inferiority complexes.

/only partially kidding
//...no, not really

I liked it tremendously. Reminded me of some guys I worked with when I was a colorist at an animation studio; they belonged to a group called Covivant in Tampa. Brent Peters and Kathy Olivas are top notch. Check them out sometime!

2007-02-18 11:34:40 PM
The last one is the best.

WhyteRaven74: And that difference is?

Artists are conceptual. Illustrators are, well, illustrative of someone elses concepts.

Yes, there's a lot of grey area.

2007-02-18 11:34:56 PM
I'd like to see some of the crap I have drawn in MS Paint be reworked by real artists.

2007-02-18 11:37:21 PM
that was great! perhaps when my kid makes cool drawings, I'll sculpt them into real figures... that would be sweet!

2007-02-18 11:41:34 PM
i can't help but think how ramped those kids were to see there visions brought to reality. Sweet!

2007-02-18 11:41:36 PM
to whomever asked what the difference between art and illustration is: illustration is for commercial purposes. it is art strictly for the sake of commerce. art by itself is creation for creation's sake with the act of commerce as a secondary function.

those kids suck at drawing.

Modern art and modern poetry are a joke. Kids can do just as well. Elephants seem to do well also. Pathetic.

2007-02-18 11:50:08 PM
Man, that was some serious warm fuzzies.
