The difference is that Denver's is a brand-new airport that was specifically designed and promoted as an airport that could stay open in any weather, no matter how severe, and would never close.

O'Hare never made that claim, and has closed on many occasions.

Chicago's transportation infrastructure has not fallen into chaos yet like Denver's did.

Well, more chaos than is normal that is.

/honestly, if we don't get our act together here soon when it comes to transportation, we're screwed.

Incredulous

The difference is that Denver's is a brand-new airport that was specifically designed and promoted as an airport that could stay open in any weather, no matter how severe, and would never close.

No government entity would be foolish enough to say such things. Any weather? What about tornadoes--did they say they could stay open if an F5 cruised thru?
