Just goes to show it isn't about talent.

I'm so proud of brap Jr.

He yelled his first word, "Judas!" when they introduced the new guy at the Wiggles concert.

This is disgraceful. Why , this man is not only physically unnatractive, he's OLD. His music is boring, too, not cool, like Justin and Kfed's is. Let's kill him.

Eh, Bob's the best.

Name another musician who as spent his or life living out the line from a song they wrote:
"He not busy being born is busy dying"?

Go watch 'No direction home'; it gave me new respect for someone I had come to think of as 'no big deal'.

Well, Bob's the REAL DEAL, and thats a fact.

2007-02-12 03:17:08 PM
"He not busy being born is busy dying"

Wow, he's illiterate too.

2007-02-12 03:17:36 PM
mfaby is exactly correct...
and if you think that you are soooo much better than he is because you cant understand the way he talks then i would love to see you amount to anything compared to bob farking dylan.

his music is anything but boring... he is a visionary and he is---like he once did--- saving the music community from the corporate rock that is killing the meaning of soul. but if you guys are fine with what music today is then by all means... its you shiatty life... enjoy it.

Bob Dylan is the most overrated musician ever. His singing is grating and his writing is atrocious. He and Kerouac paved the way for every talentless asshole who thought themselves a poet to spill their literary abortions all over the place. That Beatles song, I am the Walrus, was making a point about that very issue; they just threw a bunch of random crap into a song, as they've admitted, and tried to see if anyone would make anything of it. Fark Dylan.

johnny_bebeau: and if you think that you are soooo much better than he is because you cant understand the way he talks then i would love to see you amount to anything compared to bob farking dylan.

You are right. He's disabled. We should be giving him all our respect for overcoming such a handicap and managing to mumble his way through life and drugs.

What's with all the Dylan hate? Go kick some puppies or something if you're so mad. You know he sings that way on purpose, right? He knows how to sing and how to hit notes (see Nashville Skyline) but he sings how he wants to. Hating Dylan just makes no sense unless maybe you're Dick Cheney in 1967. It's 40 years later, and it's not like his songs are clogging up the radio. Some of you dudes need to learn to abide.

Dylan was backed by a band named "The Band," which proves one can't deny his vital part in rock &/ roll.
/saw him live last year
//his best performance out of the three times I've seen him

2007-02-12 03:55:43 PM
I'm not a huge fan of his but I can respect his music and contribution to rock and roll.

Now after saying that, I have another reason to dislike Rolling Stone. My friend had that on his coffee table and the entire rag was a giant suck fest for Dylan. Almost as if everyone who wrote for that piece of crap rag figured that if they proverbially jerked him off he'd be their bestest friend. Got damnit I hate that magazine....

2007-02-12 03:59:51 PM
Bob Dylan can set up a microphone and fart in a pail and Rolling Stone will name it album of the year

2007-02-12 04:14:38 PM
I will repeat this for all 'haters; out there:

Watch 'NO DIRECTION HOME', ALL OF IT and then come back here and say you hate him cause you dont like his voice.

If hating Dylan's voice over-rides your appreciation of exactly what he did and how he changed our view popular music then I guess you're the kind of person who thinks that Metalica MATTERS and the Dixie Chicks have something important to say.

2007-02-12 04:51:29 PM
why would I watch 'NO DIRECTION HOME' if I have absolutely zero interest in the man?

2007-02-12 04:51:43 PM
Bob Dylan becomes oldest living person.

2007-02-12 04:54:52 PM
Never have understood the allure of Dylan's music, but a lot of people seem to like it. To each his own, I suppose.

Hey, at least it's not cultural afterbirth like rap or hip-hop.

/yeah, I know that was a weak troll. S'all I gots, though...

2007-02-12 05:16:07 PM
"Modern Times" is a good album.

"Working Man's Blues" has to be one of my fav Bob songs, evar.

"why would I watch 'NO DIRECTION HOME' if I have absolutely zero interest in the man?"

You apparently had enough "interest" in the man to come in to this thread and post about him. Why would you opine regarding this man about whom you care nothing, and know less? You have just illustrated the old adage that it is better to remain silent and run the risk of being thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

Bob Dylan and The Hawks live, circa 1966 = one of the the greatest rock acts of all time.

Bob Dylan live, circa 2006 = The emperor has no clothes.

Why people make a big deal of Dylan is obvious. He was a genius who changed modern music. True, he is a poor singer, and a limited musician - but then, Barry Manilow has lots of "talent" - "talent" is cheap, you can see plenty of it on American Idol.
The main thing is, Dylan is well known and loved internationally. He is fabulously wealthy. He has had women none of you will ever be allowed to even see from a distance. He has actually done something with his life, rather than sit in his mommy's basement and type snarky crap about his superiors. And that's why all the "Fark-hate". Just to clarify that, punkasses.:D

But why are they giving Grammys to people with musical relevance? If they don't give the award to Kanye, the event loses credibility.

johnny_bebeau and mfaby

Yeah! That'll show The Man!

Hey, this is Bob Dylan. All you silly little people can say all the bad things you want about him. He doesnt care, nor should he. He was great before you were born, and hell be great long after youre dead and forgotten. Now go watch your little gay ass karoke contest on fox.

2007-02-12 10:58:25 PM
amazing how you Dylan haters rattle on about how he sucks
YET REFUSE to view something that just might change your mind.

I gotta feeling you folks are all nice and fuzzy liberas/Leftists who think the height of insulting someone is to say they are 'close minded'. Well, dudes and dudettes go take a look in the mirror. After that put on some Dixie Chicks and think how their song about Bush really SHOWED HIM.

Dylan will still be appreciated long after the Chicks and Metalica are long in the grave.

The way I see it you either like his music or you don't. But that is not relevant to whether Bob is a major figure in American music. He defined a time. His impact is enormous. It is not just his music, but who his music inspired and what they did with his lead.

Similar to the Velvet Underground, they didn't sell many records. But the people who did buy went on to start their own bands.

Besides, if you are under 30, you are not supposed to like him. That's what being a rebel is all about.

2007-02-12 11:24:03 PM
Under 30, eh? Then someone better explain to me why I'm into him?

Weirdnjfan1: Under 30, eh? Then someone better explain to me why I'm into him

You of course have wierd in your name. But it is probably because you are a thinker. Bob's lyrics are deeper than most song lyrics. On average that is, there are more songs about changing times than about leopard skin pillbox hats.

But you get my point. It wasn't an absolute. But a main feature of youth music is rejecting the establishment and all the things they like. For example, I wish a had a dollar for everytime I hear the phrase "dinosaur rock."

2007-02-13 01:11:44 AM
He's a shiatty harmonica player.

2007-02-13 02:11:48 AM
"He's a shiatty harmonica player."
True. And a mediocre guitar player, and a terrible singer.
His stature in American popular music is not based on musical "talent". Musical "talent" is cheap and plentiful - Kevin Federline has more "talent" than Dylan. Every silly little biatch who tries out for American Idol has "talent".
Great music doesn't come from "talent" - the top 40 carp you listen to on the radio might, but the stuff that lasts comes from something less superficial than "talent".
I really don't even care to listen to Dylan much anymore, but I can't deny what his importance and influence has been. And that's why he still gets Grammys - it's a gesture of respect from midgets to a giant.

"Kevin Federline has more "talent" than Dylan."

Burn in fire, heathen!

he's not a singer, he's a stylist. and no, he's not a technically amazing harp player, he's a stylist there too.

2007-02-14 03:26:32 AM
Good lyricist, some interesting chordal usage. Doesn't write very good melodies, like many people who seem to think that's a requisite for Folk music.
